Hollywood — Chucky Creator Fires Back at Nicki Minaj Over ‘Vote Red’ Post: ‘Chucky Has a Trans Kid and Is Anti-ICE’

Nicki Minaj marked Election Day by sharing what appeared to be an AI-generated image of horror icon Chucky dressed in a pink suit and wearing a pin bearing the message “Vote Red.” The Republican-themed post was consistent with the rapper’s recent alignment with Donald Trump and his MAGA supporters. However, it drew a sharp response from Don Mancini, the creator of the “Chucky” franchise.

“IMPOSTER,” Mancini wrote in an all-caps reply to Minaj’s use of the killer doll. “CHUCKY IS PART OF THE BLUE WAVE THAT WILL WASH AWAY ALL THE CORRUPTION.”

In a separate post on his own profile, Mancini further rejected any association between Chucky and the MAGA movement.

“Chucky has a trans kid. Chucky protects the dolls. Chucky is anti-ICE. Chucky says ‘A BLUE WAVE is coming, as BLUE as my fuckin’ eyes!’” he wrote.

Mancini also shared a photograph of a Chucky doll sporting blue hair instead of its signature reddish locks, adding: “Too bad, Nicki! No AI, by the way!”

This is not the first time Minaj has brought Chucky into her social media commentary. In January, she shared an image of the killer doll while criticizing journalist Don Lemon over his reporting on anti-ICE protests.

Mancini launched the franchise in 1988 with “Child’s Play” and most recently developed the “Chucky” television series, which ran for three seasons from 2021 to 2024.

During an early episode of the show, Chucky refers to his offspring Glen/Glenda, who first appeared in the 2004 film “Seed of Chucky,” by saying, “I have a queer kid.”

The television series aired on SYFY and USA Network before being canceled in September 2024 after three seasons. The franchise’s most recent feature film remains “Cult of Chucky,” released in 2017.
