Yes, there's a lot to like, but let me be blunt about the misses what this means for Samsung going forward.

This is the Andres Segovia Show.
Hey everyone, it's Andres and I'm giving you my impressions on the Samsung
Galaxy event for July, 2025.
So this unpacked event is probably the most divisive I've seen in quite some
time because where before there weren't much changes with the devices, this time
there's a lot to love about what Samsung has done and there's also a lot to hate.
So some of the stuff that we already knew or speculated about, you know, it
came to pass and I'll talk about my issues with the Fold 7 after I address
the Flip 7, but let me start off with the Watch 8 because the Watch 8 and the
Watch 8 Classic, Return of the Classic, that's good, but this whole square
circle design that was introduced with the Galaxy Watch Ultra, I didn't like it.
They don't look as appealing on picture.
They might look better in person, but I must say two buttons for the, for the
standard, three buttons for the Classic, just like the Ultra that has even more
buttons than that, brighter displays, everything sounds good, except that it's
still running the same chipset from the previous generation.
And now the, you can't carry over your watch bands.
You got to get new ones because these new lug design stuff for Galaxy lug,
whatever the heck they're calling it.
So they're trying to give labels to the inconveniences they're passing on to you.
And even more insulting for those of you that are going to maybe use the Galaxy
Watch Ultra, or you already have the last year's Galaxy Watch Ultra, and you want
to use, you know, those old bands on the new watches, well, guess what?
Not even that one carries over.
They changed that watch band design too.
So like, my goodness, that's crazy.
So the big thing is that, oh, look, now there's AI on these watches.
Yeah.
Conveniently the same day that Pixel drops the news that, hey, look,
Gemini is on the Pixel watches now.
So everybody's trying to compete about getting AI across everything.
OpenAI is announcing they're going to have an AI browser to compete
against everything else out there.
So they're really trying to force AI on everybody and I use AI.
Okay.
But to me, that's not much of a selling point.
And already the old silicon of the watches for these new batches of Galaxy
Watch 8s, it's the same one as the Galaxy Watch 7, and I'm seeing some tech tubers
complaining that, hey, these watches feel a little sluggish.
Yeah.
Now throw in AI.
How much lower would that be?
So I'm not excited about the watches.
And I'm disappointed in that because I wanted to pre-order that.
And instead I ended up picking up a Galaxy Watch 7 with LTE.
Moving on to the Galaxy Z Flip 7.
A lot to like here.
I like the colors.
Now of the announced colors, there's a mint color that is
available exclusively online.
Okay.
So there is that favorite there, and it's only available in two configurations.
I believe it's 256 gigabytes and 512 gigabytes of onboard storage.
Now this runs an Exynos processor.
A lot of people have their concerns about that because running an Exynos
silicon that's built by Samsung hasn't exactly translated to the
best performance around the world.
People prefer the trustworthy Snapdragon chipsets, but this also
is the first flip to support DeX.
So like, oh, wow.
Instead of removing DeX, I see now they're expanding it to other places,
which is a good thing because it also hints at maybe what Samsung is
intended to deploy as they work internally on auto DeX, so like
Android auto, but Samsung, they haven't done a car mode in years.
And now they might be bringing it back through this whole DeX thing.
So if Exynos can power it, it's also a good thing too.
So I like what I've seen.
I mean, this is kind of like, it looks honestly like more like a Moto Razr.
The Moto Razr probably had the best aesthetics of the flip, but now with
the durability of the design of Samsung, it'll be interesting to
see how this all plays out.
It's now a taller display.
It's the kind of one of the bigger flagship 6.9 inch display
diagonal when it's flipped open.
So we'll see about that.
But if that's too expensive, even for your pockets, because this
one is actually the one that's starting, they all went up in prices.
This is like starting at $1,100 before trade-in.
If that's too much, there's also the Flip 7 FE.
So it's kind of like last year's stuff, you know, just cheaper.
It's at $899.99, 900 bucks.
So there's that, Galaxy I included, all these different things.
So there you have that.
All right, let's talk about the Z Fold 7.
This is the one that's, you know, this had to be the one.
And I am equal parts excited.
And no, I'm probably more disappointed than I am excited about this device
because no stylus support.
That means not even the specific stylus built for the Fold will work with this.
That also means the S Pen Pro will not work on this.
What the hell, Samsung?
Seriously.
A lot of us were hoping this would be the ultimate note device
because it's made for that.
You have a bigger canvas.
It's better to hold in the hand than a skinnier candy bar device.
This was made for this.
People that bought the case that came with the S Pen for the Galaxy Z Fold 6
did not actually use the S Pen.
First off, I'm one of those that bought the case
and I use it as often as I could.
OK, but the case also made the phone bulkier.
But your complaint is that you made a case
that your fans still paid for, by the way.
They shelled out 80 to 90 bucks for that flimsy protection that you put on it.
That's why you guys didn't even bother with this year's cases
to add one for the front part of the foldable, just the back.
It's like, dude, they pay for the damn thing.
Why is it of any concern of yours whether I did use it or not?
I never cared about the size of the battery
so long as I could fully charge my device pretty quick,
whether it's wireless or plugged in.
At least it charges quickly.
But you guys raised the price on this device,
offered less features and functionality for it overall,
but try to justify it by putting almost flagship cameras,
but not all flagship cameras and your case options are still lacking
and you're providing less of cases for it.
And throughout the years, you guys have been stripping stuff in the boxes.
Give me a break, Samsung.
You're the biggest one in the space for Android and probably the world.
And you guys are playing catch up now when the Apple foldable debuts.
And if Apple includes Apple Pencil support
and if reports are to be true, that this will debut a lot sooner
than expected production beginning, maybe at the end of fall,
early winter or whatever it is, you guys will lose the foldable space entirely.
But even more infuriating is that you gave less options
for the one terabyte option in terms of colors.
It's only available in black and blue shadow.
Are you guys going to introduce more colors down the line?
It's pathetic.
It's an insult to anybody that's owned your wearables
to just change them up on them like that,
especially with the first generation Galaxy Watch Ultra.
Meanwhile, you raise the prices, too, and we still don't have word
how much you're going to be charging us for Galaxy AI.
I'm in business, too.
I understand that, you know, there's economies of scales and things and that.
But there's also an understanding that if you control
most of the economies of scale, that you're able to create incentives,
that you're also able to be more efficient in your process.
Instead, you're making things more expensive, more inaccessible.
Not a good look, Samsung.
So damn you for that.
Seriously.
Yeah, I order that.
I'm trading in my default six because it's I'm expecting this to be more usable.
But that's why I didn't trade in my S24 Ultra.
I anticipated this might happen.
That's why I didn't go for the S25 Ultra.
And the rumors hold that S26 Ultra will not have S Pen.
Then what's the difference
than going for any other flagship out there?
Am I that in love with one UI and Galaxy AI?
No, I'm not.
Especially not anymore after all this.
Let me know what you guys think in the comment section down below.
Did you preorder this?
If so, what did you get?
The Fold 7, the Flip 7, the Flip 7 FE.
What do you think of the watches?
I'm bummed.
I like all the features they put in there, but it's just I don't know.
I think that that chipset is going to be overworked.
That's why I decided to go with the Watch 7.
See how that one pans out.
Anyway, that's it.
Thanks very much for watching.
