One man on this planet can move trillions of dollars with a single post from his phone.
Not a CEO. Not the Fed chair. A president. And for the first time in decades,
the market isn't being steered by a backroom you'll never see. It's being steered out loud,
in public, on the same phone you're holding right now. Today, how to stop being the person
Markets used to move on earnings, interest rates, quarterly reports,
you know, those boring stuff. Now, they move on one man's phone. This isn't a vibe,
it's measured. High-frequency analysis last August found that every time President Trump
posts on Truth Social, traders rewrite their bets on interest rates within minutes.
Your favorite influencer gets a brand deal. This guy moves the Federal Reserve Outlook
between sips of Diet Coke. Let me show you what that looks like in real money.
On April 2, 2025, Liberation Day, sweeping tariffs announced.
My fellow Americans, this is Liberation Day. Waiting for a long time. So, if you look at that.
And the S&P 500 closed around $56.70. Six trading days later, April 8, it was at $49.83,
down more than 12% in six days. So, on a $10,000 investment, you just watched $1,200
evaporate before your coffee got cold. And the VIX, which is the Wall Street's fear meter,
spiked to 45. CNBC was running countdown locks, and people were texting their financial advisors
at midnight. You know it's bad when the guy with the Bloomberg terminal is the one who's scared.
Then, April 9, the administration paused some of the tariffs. And the S&P didn't just recover,
it rocketed up nearly 10% on one single day. Biggest one-day gain since 2008.
There are three kinds of people came out of that week. The people who held, made it back in about
three weeks. The people who bought the dip, you know, they're still sitting on a very nice quarter.
And the people who panic sold on April 8, still apologizing to the wife.
Down and up like a yuyu, with a flag on it. And here's the part the doom and gloom crowd
will never say out loud. Since the November 2024 election, the S&P 500 is up nearly 30%,
through the tariffs, through the court fights, and through every panic headlines.
Consumer spending kept growing, earnings stayed strong, tax relief at lower rates
kept the engine running. The headlines screamed crash, and the market just kept its receipts.
While CNN was drafting the obituary, your 401k was quietly having one of its best
runs in years. Funny how that part never makes the chyron.
So if the market is sorted into teams, let me show you who's been pulling offense.
Because America First isn't just a slogan, it's a roster.
Okay, first one, steel sector, like Nucor, Cleveland Cliff, up double digits this year.
Both cited tariff protection on their own earnings calls. And then domestic energy,
like Exxon, Chevron, riding deregulation and record US production. And then the defense sector,
like Lockheed, Northrop, quietly having a fantastic year.
Also the big banks, like JP Morgan, Bank of America,
looser regulations, steeper yield curve, cash machine.
Think about what that means for a second. A factory in Ohio, a defense plant in Texas,
a bank in Charlotte, all outperforming Silicon Valley at the same time. That hasn't happened in
20 years, probably. And the market just remembered the rest of the country exists.
Quick plot twist. In February, the Supreme Court struck down the sweeping tariffs,
ruling the White House went beyond what Congress authorized. So the administration pivoted.
New tariffs, 10% globally, under a different law, time limited to 150 days. Translation,
the rules keep moving, but the playbook doesn't. You don't have to predict the next post,
you just have to notice which jersey Washington is rooting for.
All right, strategy time. Because watching billionaires in moon markets is fun,
but it doesn't pay your rent. So rule number one, when everyone panics, go shopping. You just saw
the proof. Liberation Day was a six-day clearance sale on companies that recovered within weeks.
So when the next headline screams crash, don't ask, should I run? Ask, is anything I already
believed in now 10% cheaper? Rule number two, boring beats brilliant. I know the temptation.
You see the swings and think, I'll time it perfectly. Sweetheart, you won't. Nobody texts
you the morning the policy reverses. Even $100 paycheck into a broad index fund over five years
beats 90% of active traders. That's not me being humble. That's the S&P data. And 30% return I
mentioned, it went to the people who stayed in, not the ones who jumped out at every scary headline.
Rule number three, respect the risks. Because this part, the get-rich-quick crowd always skips.
Wall Street has a price tag on stocks called the Shiller PE, that's price-to-earnings. Basically,
how much you're paying for every dollar a company actually makes is the price tag of the entire
stock market, and that goes back to 1881. And right now, it just hit 38.9, which means currently
investors are paying almost $40 for every $1 of profit. That's only happened three times in history,
1929, 2000, and right now. The first two times, the next thing on the calendar was a crash.
That doesn't guarantee a third one though, but it does mean the market's standing on two stories
of glass. When it falls, it has further to fall. And the buy-the-dip pattern, it works until the
one time it doesn't, right? It's a pattern, not a law of physics. So here's the disclaimer, and I mean it.
I'm just here to chat when you're bored, not your financial advisor. So only risk what you can
afford to lose, and if real money is on the line, talk to a licensed professional, okay? Not any guy
on YouTube filming in his ranted Lamborghini. Now I want to be honest with you. You could say,
yeah, but the hedge funds still have faster computers, better algorithms, a team of analysts.
Well, that's true. But here's what they don't have, better information. The most market-moving voice
in the country isn't whispering in a private dining room anymore. President Trump is posting
on the same app your son secretly checks in the classroom, in the same feed, same time. That's not
chaos. That's the playing field finally getting a little bit flatter. And the UU with the flag on it,
it only scares the people who don't understand the string. All right, that's all for today. Hit
the like button and give us a follow. Thanks for watching, and I'll see you in the next one.
