Texas Gov. Greg Abbott hosts a get-out-the-vote event in Lindale, Texas, on Oct. 23, ahead of the November midterm elections.
...of this great state,
especially here in the great area of East Texas.
To show you, as best as I can tell, I am the only governor
to visit Lindale since Governor Hubbard back in the 1800s.
As best as I can tell, I have visited Smith County
more than any governor ever has visited Smith County,
Texas during my time as governor.
I know you, I know your values, and I know this.
as I'm going to cover extensively today,
your values are being challenged in this election.
There are crazy radical leftists
who think they can hijack Texas and destroy the values of East
Texas. And you know what? We are not going to let that happen.
So let me tell you about a large
number. The large number is 2,600,000.
Population-wise, that's more than the cities of
Dallas and Fort Worth combined
but in this case the number two million six hundred thousand is the
number of new jobs added to Texas under
my leadership as your governor that's more than
added by any governor in Texas history more than any state during
that time period and more Texans
have a job today than ever before in the history
of our great state wages are higher the poverty
rate is lower and we're about to make it even better
when we pass my affordability agenda
that's going to drive down the cost of living
for the average Texas family by more than four
thousand dollars a year crime is lower
our neighborhoods are safer and once again we have
a secure border what you know one
of the challenges we deal with with Joe Biden's open
border policies was human trafficking.
I want you to know I signed the toughest human trafficking
laws of any state in the United States of America.
But listen, as you guys get ready to go vote,
this is one of those issues you got to understand.
There's a big difference between myself and my
opponent. As I was signing laws that cracked down
on human traffickers, my opponent, Gina
And then also, voted against that.
She voted in favor of the human traffickers.
That's crazy.
It's outrageous.
It's lawless.
It's reckless.
And we cannot let it happen.
And that's why we are going to re-elect me
as your governor for four more years.
So I mention this word crazy.
And candidly, that's the nicest thing we can call it.
Because the fact of the matter is,
if you look at my opponent's voting record.
Well, let me set it up this way.
Everybody here knows what a crazy nut job Tallarico is, right?
Did you know that my opponent
is far more progressive left liberal than Tallarico?
She was the number one furthest radical liberal
in the Texas House of Representatives.
She makes Tallarico look like a conservative.
And there is no way we will turn the levers
of government over to Gina Hinojosa, that radical leftist.
we're going to re-elect me
as your governor once again let's just let's just reel through some of
these policies and how important it
is to you how important it is to all of our Texans listen one
thing uh an episode we all had to go through
was when Joe Biden was elected president and Joe Biden
came in here and he opened the border wide open
and Joe Biden allowed in more than thousands of
illegal immigrants a day and Texas had to respond
and i work with your legislators here and i signed
the toughest ban on sanctuary cities in the United States
of America Texas is the only state to ever
build our own border wall
and i signed the toughest law that makes it a state crime for
illegal immigrants to cross the border into the state
of Texas where they will be immediately
deported from our state. All of these are really just
common sense laws, right? Well, who could be against them?
My opponent, Jeanne Hennis, voted against all of those.
She voted in favor of sanctuary cities.
Imagine if your next governor supported sanctuary cities like
in Minneapolis and New York and Chicago and Los Angeles. It would
destroy the state of Texas. Well, guess what? I know
that Texans they want safe communities and secure borders
and that's why I will be re-elected as
your governor for four more years you know speaking
of safe communities there's such a
massive contrast between myself
and my opponent in this race on the border stuff it gets even worse
because there was a law that I was trying to get passed
this last session the law was this and that
If you're in the state illegally and you murder somebody,
you should be kept behind bars without bail.
That's just common sense, right?
Gina voted against that.
She prioritized illegal immigrants over the lives of our fellow Texans.
She should never be allowed to be governor of the state of Texas.
I'll tell you another reason why we've got
to have four more years is because, listen, this is just crazy.
Do you remember what happened early on in 2020, 2021,
when you saw Minneapolis and Portland and Los Angeles and Chicago?
They came out with these big, strong movements to defund the police.
That's crazy. That's California. That's not Texas.
In Texas, we support our law enforcement officers, period.
My opponent voted to defund the police.
That's crazy, and I made sure that did not happen
because I signed a law backing the blue
requiring every city and every county
to fully fund our law enforcement officers.
You know, we face challenges with regard to public safety.
I want you to know something that I have announced
and I've begun to implement across the entire state of Texas.
I want to get dangerous criminals off our streets,
And that's why I created a repeat offender task force where
the state Texas Department of Public Safety is working
with your local law enforcement, working with federal law enforcement,
and we are identifying and going after
and arresting repeat offenders who are roaming the streets,
getting them off the streets before they harm any of our fellow Texans.
We want to keep your community safe.
We want to keep our borders secure. But we all have to understand this.
We face another challenge to the safety of our state,
to the dignity, to the sovereignty of our state.
And that is, we've got to understand that China, Russia, Iran,
our foreign adversaries are trying to destroy our state.
And that's why I worked with your great legislators here.
And I signed the toughest law
in America banning foreign adversaries like China, Russia,
and Iran from buying our land in the state of Texas.
Listen, truly, this just makes sense, right?
Who would want China coming in here and buying our land?
Gina Hinojosa wanted it.
She voted against it.
Gina thinks it's just fine for China to buy your land,
to ban connections to our power grid, to buy your water.
That is insane.
We must defeat Gina Hinojosa this election.
I also used that law,
and I designated the Muslim Brotherhood and CARE
as foreign terrorist organizations not allowed
to operate in the state of Texas to show you the
contrast in this election so I designate them as foreign terrorists
and then earlier this week
they came out and endorsed my opponent Gina Hinojosa
who would do nothing about it in fact
listen I worked with your legislators
and we passed a law saying no Muslim-only cities
or communities or compounds in the state
of Texas it's just common sense who could be against that
common sense Gina Hinojosa voted against it
I'll tell you something else that's common sense
in fact this is a this is a an issue that either qualifies you
or disqualifies you from running
for governor and that is the issue of taxes
so I work with these members of the legislature
And we passed repeatedly the largest property tax relief
in the history of Texas.
When I became governor, when I became governor,
you had a $15,000 homestead exemption on your home.
Now we've raised it all the way to $200,000 exemption
from property taxes on your home.
But listen, I got more.
That's what we call a good start in the state of Texas.
I got bored because you reelect me
and we'll do these three things to cut your property taxes.
Number one, your property taxes should never go up again without
you having a say in it, without you having a vote in it.
It requires a two-thirds vote margin before
your property taxes can go up.
Number two, your appraisals
are going through the roof and it must stop.
Your appraisals go up as much as 10% a year.
We've got to lower that to no more than 3% a year.
And last, think about this issue.
Why is it that your homestead is being used to fund public education?
That's not the responsibility of your homestead.
That is the responsibility of the state of Texas.
I want the state of Texas to be fully responsible
for our obligation to fully fund public education
and to educate our kids and put them on the pathway
for Texas to rank number one in educating our children
without using your homestead.
And I want to zero out any property taxes
you're paying to your local school district.
Now, all together, we're going to slash
your property tax bill by more than half,
saving the average Texas homeowner
more than $3,000 a year.
But let me tell you something.
If I'm not reelected, that's not going to happen.
Because Gina, she voted for higher property taxes
more than 40 times she actually came out in favor
of an income tax in the state of texas saying that
an income tax was the third leg of the taxing stool
that was necessary to fund our government
any candidate talking about imposing
a state income tax is disqualified for running for
governor in the state of texas something else
that she came out for and that is to impose
an inheritance tax on your kids on your grandkids that is wrong i
and i made sure we protected your
kids and your grandkids inheritance because we work together
and pass a law saying no inheritance
tax in the state of texas listen all of this comes
down to really what this campaign is all about
and that is common sense versus crazy uh
and and what jenna has voted for and supported
is just absolute crazy another thing
that is maybe worse than the word crazy uh it is again
a disqualifier for office in the state
of texas one thing we all care about are our kids and we
care about their safety and security we care about
what they're doing in our public schools and
things like that and one thing this common sense uh
this for one is common sense but also taps into
what our values are as East Texans
and that is we all agree that boys should not be playing in
girls sports in the state of Texas again it's
common sense who could be against that common
sense Gina Hinojosa she voted for boys
and girls sports she even said she saw no reason why girls
should be frightened or disturbed or threatened by boys
and girls sports we need to send Gina
Hinojosa packing
and re-elect me as your governor
for four more years that was all she had done
with regard to that issue but but it went
and this falls into that category because this is
this is far worse what Gina voted for was to to use
your taxpayer dollars to have our public
schools assist young children in transitioning
their sex behind their parents backs and voted
to prosecute parents
who supposedly misgender their own child in their own home it's crazy
but don't worry about it because i worked with your legislators
and i signed a law that provided
the strongest parents' rights law in the United States of America,
ensuring it's parents who get to decide what's right for their child.
So guys, what are we here for today?
We're here to get out the vote effort.
We're here for elections.
Elections that will be highly consequential.
And I know that when you guys go vote,
a concern you may have, a priority that I know you have,
is to make sure there's going to be integrity at the ballot box.
Am I right?
We don't want any cheating or illegal voting, am I right?
And so one thing that we did this last session,
we made sure we'd have greater integrity of the ballot box
because we made a constitutional amendment in the state of Texas
that in Texas, only United States citizens can vote in our elections.
It's just common sense, right?
Who could be against that?
Gina Hinojosa voted against that.
Why would she vote against saying only
U.S. citizens can vote in an election?
Does she really want people here illegally to vote?
I don't know.
Ask her.
But it's a crazy vote.
But listen, as a concern of this election,
man, we've got to get together to win.
Because you've heard the contrast in this election.
And I think Cole Heffner was telling you,
and maybe the others were telling you before I came in,
that there is extraordinarily high voter turnout for these Democrats.
In Travis County, Austin, Texas, the bastion of liberalism.
In Dallas County, down in Houston, Texas.
And there's not as high
of a percentage turnout right here in Smith County.
Smith County values are on the balance.
And there are far radical leftists
who are trying to destroy your values.
There's only one way to respond to that,
And that is to get every conservative in Smith County
to go to the polls and go vote and go vote early.
So how many of you, how many of you have already voted?
A good number.
How many of you can go vote early today?
There we go.
And so one thing you want to do is to keep Smith County red
and keep Texas red.
Am I right?
So let me give you a way that you can ensure that.
Listen, I'm here today, and I'm going
to be covering every corner of the state to get voter turnout.
But this is a mission I cannot accomplish on my own.
It's a mission that all of us candidates
on the ballot cannot accomplish on our own.
We need you to be a part of that process.
And what that requires is for you to make sure you
do your part to turn out the vote.
and the first step to get that done
is to get everybody in this room
right now to get out your phone
and turn it on.
I'm serious. I need everybody
to turn on your phone and fire it up
because I'm going to walk you through a way
to make sure we keep Texas red.
So open up your phone
you can
turn back on your video here in a second.
I want
everybody that you're broadcasting
live to hear this.
Listen, if you're listening to this, you yourself turn on your phone.
And so when you turn on your phone, I want you to go to your App Store.
You know, everybody knows what that is.
It's a blue icon.
It has an A in the middle of it.
And below it, it says App Store.
You can't miss it.
So click on App Store.
And when you click on App Store, plug in the name Abbott, A-B-B-O-T-T.
This is real simple.
Go to your App Store and plug in the name Abbott.
And the first thing, the only thing you'll find there,
it says Abbott Impact.
Click on Abbott Impact.
And when you click on Abbott Impact,
you're going to see a red icon pop up that has the Abbott Impact app.
Oh, I just heard someone ding.
Someone just downloaded the Abbott Impact app.
I'd love to hear that ding.
So click on the Abbott Impact app,
and you're going to be amazed what I'm about to tell you.
So download the Abbott Impact app.
And then when you do that, you've got to do just three things.
One is you've got to plug in your information,
your name and all that kind of stuff,
so that you'll set up your own profile.
After you set up your profile, only two things you've got to do.
One, click a button that's going
to allow all of your contacts in your phone
to be on that Abbott Impact app.
This is great because wait until you hear this next step.
The next step is click one more button.
And when you click that one more button, it's going to connect all
of your contacts in your phone with the Texas Voter Database.
And let me tell you what that's going to show.
First, know this.
Everybody who's voted early,
that is a public record anybody in the entire country can see.
We know for a fact who's voted early.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
It's a public record.
And when you download the Abbott Impact app,
when you add your contacts to that app,
then when you add the Texas Voter database to the app,
you yourself are going to know
which of your contacts have voted and who has not voted.
Right, right. Now you know where I'm going here.
And so here's what we need you to do.
We've got hundreds of people in this room.
Altogether, we've got 100,000 contacts. Altogether.
if all of you all download that app
and start sending texts and communications to the people
who have not yet voted,
you're going to be responsible for turning out more than 100,000
votes to make sure we keep Texas red.
If you want a red Texas, you've got to be a part of the
solution. So let me break it down this way to show you how easy it is.
Everybody here has shopped on
amazon is that right most of you have here's how it works
if you have it to shop on amazon you got
to click on the amazon link then you click on buy again
then you click on the item that you want
you click on and put it in your basket
and then you press uh pay and you're done that's five steps
and if you want to order like a a red hat like
this man has right here it's going to take five
steps to order a red hat in just two steps using
the Avid Impact app you can just as fast order a
red state a red texas to be delivered
this election we need you to be in charge of our
destiny here in smith county in charge of our destiny
in state of texas we must defeat these
crazy radical leftists
and we must vote for common sense in the state of texas we must
re-elect Greg Abbott as your governor four more years,
re-elect your great state representatives,
and together we're going to keep Texas, Texas.
Listen, you guys have been so great. What I'm
going to do is I'm going to stick around here.
What I'm going to do is I'm going to stay here
and take a picture with everyone who wants a picture.
However, two things are required.
Either A, you have to have already voted, or B,
you have to promise after taking a picture,
you will go vote. So I have here the closest voting location.
It's the Lindale-McKenzie Community
Center. Y'all know where that, many of you know where that is.
It's at 912 Mount Sylvan Street
in Lindale. Here's the deal. It's less than a mile away.
And I can tell you for a fact,
in less than 10 minutes,
I can roll over there.
All Hot Wheels, right?
So if Hot Wheels can make
you can make it over there in ten minutes
also go vote, come take a pic
do your part to keep Texas Texas, God bless you all
and God bless the great state of Texas
all right, everybody's gonna start over here
on this left side, actually on the right if
everybody can come up with their phone
