I have turned to my dear friends for support and advice - and this is where our Carry Forth Tradition Quentin comes in - he has years of experience with food, nutrition and diet and all sorts of other amazing things and experiences. And he has kindly offered to see if there are any tweaks he can suggest to improve my diet a little, maybe a healthy food to cure a craving instead of a sugary one, a change to my routine, the amount I eat (I have been so brainwashed I don’t even know what a healthy amount is to eat), to help me get more control back and balance my food intake. This in turn will help me face my deeper demons and overcome them. Some of our Carry forth Tradition writers may join in too! We will log my eating habits, and daily routines and see what we discover....
Okay, so hi Paula, hi Quentin. Hi Becky, hi Quentin, how are you guys today? I'm fine, you?
I'm great. I've just been thinking about what I'm eating more lately and I know that you know
we've got our Quentin here who knows a lot about these sort of things and I was just wondering if
Quentin you might give me a bit of a hand and you know point me in the right direction a bit
about what I'm eating a few adjustments. Well you know as I've said to train when I've trained
clients you know the first thing that you have to do when I'm training anybody is I have to know who
you are right because I think people's minds today are so filled with different ideas and
and different things. People have a magazines, they got books, you go to a when you believe when
they used to have bookstores you go to a bookstore and there's 17,000 books on 17 to 17 different
diets and the reason why they don't work the reason why it usually always fails is because
the person somewhere along the line couldn't fit in their life and who they were to that particular
book that particular diet because the book is written for an overall thing so the first thing
I'd have to do to help is I have to get to know who you are right and that's the most challenging
thing with people because as a trainer we always joke people really they go on automatic pilot
they don't really know how they got to where they're at in the first place and so my job
if someone is lost it's kind of trying to find where they went where they went wrong you know
what how did they make a left when they should have made a right or they're going north when
they should go south so the first thing that I would ask you to do is to just get a little
a little notepad a little notebook and as you go for like the next three days you know I've been
doing for a long time like three days is fine and and be honest you know don't don't try to
go on a diet on yourself for three days and be like well I I woke up and had water and then I
had a a piece of bread you know eat regular like you always would do with your coffee with your
whatever you're eating your sugars whatever pastries whatever everything down just a little
be honest because you got to see what the pattern is I work with people and when I can tell you
people act like they only eat 500 calories a day and then when they look at that list at the end of
the day they go oh my god I'm eating like 4,000 calories I mean like 3,000 they didn't know they
had no idea you know so that's the first thing you do write down the things you do and the timing
that you do them so I can see what your life goes what time you eat because then I can tweak
you then I can show you you know what things to do and what things to cut away because I don't want
people I don't see I don't want people to ever have to do something they don't normally do right
I don't know what you normally eat sometimes you can keep many of the things that you already do
you don't have to sacrifice them so I can't give you my diet I gotta give you your diet your eating
okay and I know that you know it's been a really strange year and I've probably been
doing a lot of comfy since I'm already aware of that so you know I'm thinking we all have
we all have you know we're all in the same boat I'm in the same boat with you I'm a very realistic
guy I got out of training physically physical fitness training because I didn't like the
deception I didn't like the phoniness and the image driven thing I want people to get into
their body to free them right to open them up to their life not to put another burden another
thing to do on their on their particular life because that's true fitness in my opinion okay
so all right I'll get myself a little notepad and a pen there you go and I will do that are
you gonna join in I am there you go you down too you down all right all right slice of homemade
bread every half an hour with some there you go and that could explain a lot I've been eating
haribo's on the night before I go to sleep did you say hairy what jellies like jelly sweets
