Hello everyone, Gerald here.
Welcome back to Studio Ploy.
Hope everyone is having a great day.
For the second part of our anniversary makeover series, we are going to upgrade this bathroom
into something very cozy with a coastal Scandinavian feel.
I got the idea of the theme when I asked the owner for pictures for a surprise gallery wall
that I'm creating for the unit.
The owner loves the beach and one of her favorite colors is blue.
Initially, she only asked for the bathroom to have some very basic stuff like
glass enclosure or divider for the shower, mirror, towel holder, and bidet.
She also wanted the existing tiles in the shower area to be extended all the way up to the ceiling.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find the same exact tile as it's already kind of old,
which I then later able to confirm that it's already based out.
I asked the owner if I could realign the supposed budget for the tile
to add some shelvings, some accessories, and create a faux shiplap
very similar to the first bathroom that I did.
By the way, if you haven't watched the video, I will put the link on the description box.
After getting a nod from the owner, I then proceed painting the walls.
The initial color was very yellowish and does not complement with the existing tiles.
White suits best with our Scandicoso theme.
I've done a few coatings for this one until I'm not able to see any trace of the old yellowish paint.
The timing was just perfect that on the second day,
Asibarglass was scheduled to install the shower enclosure.
I opted for the fixed one and the covers just a little over half of the shower area.
This is to protect the other side from water splashes.
Full enclosure was initially considered but it was out of budget.
I also went for the frameless for it to have a very clean look
and it gives this illusion or magical effect by giving your bathroom a bigger feel.
After the installation of the shower divider, I then proceed in creating the faux shiplap.
I've used the very same technique on our first bathroom makeover but
this time, it was easier with my line laser.
Without the need for markings as guide, I went on creating vertical lines with frog tape.
With our previous shiplap video, it was a full clean line but for this one,
I wanted it to have this unfinished effect.
Sorry for the lack of term but the color is not even and very organic looking.
As you can see from the video, in a tapping manner, I applied the paint with just one coat.
I've tried it first on one side when it was successful,
I then replicated it all throughout the bathroom walls.
When peeling off the tape, make sure that you're pulling it
away around 45 degrees on the line to avoid the paint from sticking.
This is how the result looks like up close.
By the way, if you're going to try creating this, same with what I did here,
you can reuse the other side of the tape.
Sobrang makapit pa siya that you can reuse and makatipit pa.
I then assembled the lock storage shelf that
will be installed on the upper part of the sink and the bowl area.
What's good about this shelf is it's easy to assemble and can be attached to the wall
without any help since the connection is separate.
It's somehow similar to Tang & Grove only with this one sa wal siya.
And for that candy touch is this round Dane hanging mirror in gold.
The chain is adjustable so you can easily change the height of the mirror.
I've also replaced the existing lighting with a very simple flash-mounted light in cool white tone.
Almost all the major fixtures were already installed,
but I kept looking at the proportion of the mirror with the storage shelf and the sink.
It doesn't look cohesive to me.
I took a photo of it since di ako makonvince.
Even if you've done some measurements, there will still be last changes on the actual.
Last minute, I came up with a decision to remove it and instead
put this on the bedroom area and replace it with a simple floating shelf.
I've also added some additional floating shelves for the plants and additional storage.
For a little drama, this candy ladder will add in dimension to the space
which will also serve as hanging area for the clothes and towels.
As usual, as Studio Ploy's personal touch toy space,
I've created this simple abstract painting in acrylic for that coastal vibe.
Also keeping in mind the owner's love for the beach and the color blue.
I've also added in this stainless steel finish bidet
similar to the finishes of the existing fixtures since we are not going to replace them.
Found this nordic looking roll holder online in wood and gold combination na super cute
and perfectly fits our theme kaya ginamit ko as towel holder.
I also added these gold hooks for hanging used towels.
As you can see, we have two different tones, the stainless steel and the gold finishes.
It's actually okay to combine, just make sure to use one U as the accent
and the other U as the dominant one.
Originally, I wanted to put the painting above the switch but it was too high.
Instead, I placed it beside the scanty ladder na mas mumagay palano.
For some final touches is this eucalyptus leaves in the shower area for that minty fresh smell.
Also with this native laundry basket with lid,
the face towel and the super comfy bath mat that I got all from H&M Home.
Nothing compares to a clean bathroom where we prep ourselves throughout the day.
It could serves as a sanctuary within your abode or a place where one finds solace and retreat.
A bathroom should be warm, comforting and a place that definitely provides a refreshing feeling
that energizes you to face whatever challenges the day ahead of you bring.
I'm hoping this simple bathroom makeover inspires you more to create
one that best suits your personality and lifestyle.
Thank you guys so much for watching.
See you guys in the next one.
