Today we're going to look at 7 ways to fill your sketchbook and the ones that have worked for me
And several of you told me that if they wanted to see a video like this so I'm going to give you what I usually use in my sketchbook
A piece of advice I give you is to make the first page a collage of something you really like
In my case as I mentioned in the previous video I told you what I have liked the most and why
I have little plants I have emilén I have the rose I have the skull I have the eyes the moon
And you can choose perhaps any topic that interests you to fill your first page and thus take inspiration from what comes next
The second piece of advice I give you is to do color tests in your sketchbook using the palettes you have purchased
For example I bought this one from Daniel Smith and it had been there for a while without me using it so I took the opportunity in this video to make it
And곁 this I feel it's very useful when we buy a palette because often the cap or the color on the tube doesn't match
With the one it already has pigment and how it behaves and you can put your notes there
I think it's something that does get a bit tiring or maybe it just gets me tired there are people who I think really enjoy it
But it's advice I'm giving you and in any case they would already have a record of the palettes they've purchased
Having it in your sketchbook feels like a way to have it maybe a bit more organized it would be a matter of putting the year and the color palettes
In this case maybe just having a sketchbook for this kind of exercise or a palette but I do it mixed right
The other advice I give you is that you can take on challenges
If you don't know how to fill your sketchbook challenges are a great option in this case we just released a challenge that has already ended
It was called "mosquito rain " I took it with sand and then decided to record it here I think it was the only thing I recorded from that
Make I think this time it was candles and well I just did my sketch in my sketchbook ha
Because obviously he just wanted to put the idea what he was going to do and in the end paint it with watercolor
So challenges I highly recommend them
The other advice I give you which I think is really fun is to do fanart or sketches of movies
I think this might help them a lot especially to understand the shapes the lights and the shadows
How the character is made that is beyond that in this case I made a crude copy I didn't do a fanart
Because I feel like a fanart is like an interpretation of yours towards the movie
But here I just wanted to copy it's been a long time since I last copied little things from movies
Always as if I was throwing something of my own making or for example I think the last one I did was from Ghibli
but even so it was like a studio and you would just put things in no here I really tried to copy
Because I was having so much fun it's not about suffering you know
But if you enjoy it you also feel that you learn a lot when you copy
But they also have to do with it because if someone is going to copy certain things obviously they won't upload it as their own right
Because they already know that it's a topic and there are certain things that can and cannot be done
In this case we are studying and obviously I'm not going to post this and say it's mine right
When everyone already knows Red but what I mean is that what we need here is to practice
Understand things let the hand flow so if you don't know how to fill your sketchbook
This is a very good way and that's how they learn they practice their little hands and everything else and they do things they like
Even here I wanted to try a pencil the erasable Prismacolor I was going to use red for obvious reasons
But I said no I'm going to use it in sepia because it's been a long time since I used a sepia or a coffee tone
But anyway friends I recommend that to you
Another thing I also recommend is doing poses and movement which in English is called gesture
And friends this is something that will really help you and I think your sketchbook could be full of pages pages and pages
Because of this type of exercise it helps us understand a lot for example in my case I am very interested in the human body
And I'm interested in how it moves because then I feel my monkeys become a bit square
And these exercises I think can help them a lot with the shapes movements and
poses and it doesn't necessarily have to be very detailed in the face in this case
I actually when I do this kind of exercise the face doesn't exist well I mean the features that is
So you can't see just the eyes and the nose and if I put it on it's just a bit above
But I feel this exercise could really help them and maybe it would be good if they tried it
And especially because here they are going to fill a lot of forms a lot
I don't know how many times I've said it but yes it is actually one of my favorite exercises
If it bothers you to use so many pages from your sketchbook you can do it on newspaper pages instead
In which they have I think these exercises are the ones that help us the most and from which they can fill pages and pages and pages
They can take pictures as a reference tell their friend their mom their dad whatever they have
Let you put them in a café on the subway or anywhere else this exercise is very free and you can do it anywhere
They also learn a lot so 10 out of 10 for this exercise and I hope it helps you and that you apply it as well
Oh Another one the sixth advice I give you is about painting this video I had already taken from another video I had uploaded
But in my case a good approach was doing many painting studies which also involved copying the lights and shadows
because it's something that really interests me that is obviously you will apply it to your needs
If you want to do certain things if you want to do them with animals with buildings
So what interested me most was how the human body and how they handled the lights
In this case I had Caravaggio as a reference and obviously my idea was not for it to be an exact copy
But actually in that video I explain more but I think they can apply that
So take as reference paintings that catch your attention or that you want to apply
something from and you can also use your sketchbook to study all that kind of things
and the truth is that it's very fun and especially you learn remember
that here the topic is to observe and see well what you are going to do
So that it is more or less what they are studying and applying
So painting studios are also friends 10 out of 10 I recommend them and that's it
The following are doodles which is something I also picked up from another video that I think I uploaded two weeks ago
I don't remember exactly how much but this exercise feels much more fluid than in that video I mentioned
You can draw whatever you want I feel like this exercise had slipped my mind
But it's very noble because you can do exactly what you want combine it with anything you want
Do it with markers and colors I wouldn't do it with a guada technique because I feel it would be a disaster
But I just don't like so much experimental stuff but if you do like that I think you could also apply it
To me for example I had a good one that didn't draw with colored pens
Which in that video I had a lot of fun and that's something I also recommend you to do doodling
There was a time a few years ago when they were very popular and there were only YouTube videos about drawing doodles
And I think people took it there but overall I feel that all of us who draw
At some point we've all doodled because when you were in class and super bored
And you started drawing little things around the edge of the page because that my friends is how it's done
But now they can do it the same way and add a bit more punch you know I think that would be really cool
I also recommend doing these types of exercises I think these are the seven methods I've used the most in my sketchbooks
And then you also ask me and here I bring them to you
I hope it has been helpful I hope it has served you and if you have another way of filling your sketchbooks
Let me know in the comments below because we might make a second video
Because I was thinking about others but said oh I don't know I don't know if I should apply or no
and especially because maybe the ways in which I fill my sketchbook
I think there are these seven they are the ones that repeat the most and that's it I think that's it friends
I hope this video was helpful to you again I hope you enjoyed this video
And as I've told you let me know here below other ways to fill your sketchbook
And you know that if you liked the video you already know leave your like your comment subscribe if you haven't already
And I'm waiting for you on my Instagram where I post that every day Instagram dies a little more
But there I'll be waiting and I also have TikTok and well I don't know here below I'll leave all the links
I hope you found it helpful and see you in the next video goodbye
