Hey guys, welcome back to my channel. I am going to start this rock off with a nice white surface.
So we're going to sponge on white acrylic paint, let it dry, and then we'll work with it afterwards.
Once it's dry, I'm going to use like a mint color and white, and I'm going to sponge
it all all over the place, kind of messy, and just make like a blurry mint and white background for
our beautiful cow to be placed upon. Now all the color paint that I'm using will be listed in the
description, so don't forget to click down the down arrow on the right and see what all I have
hidden in there for you. Now this is my first ever cow, so I'm winging it after taking a look on
Google and Pinterest for some inspiration. And so if she doesn't look like a cow,
bear with me, I will turn her into one as we go along. So I am winging it right now.
If you can't see it very well, I am going to outline it with black paint so that you can
pause it and take a look at the design and and work with it on your rock. If you want to practice on
paper with a pencil first before you put it on the rock, it's completely up to you, or just dive
right in like I am and hoping to God that it looks beautiful when we're done. Also no judgment,
one nostril is going to be bigger than the other, and there's nothing wrong with that. So just love
her nostril the way it is, please, and she'll be beautiful anyway. I am doing everything with my
fine lining brush, which is in a tutorial on my channel if you want a little bit of help with
fine lining. I know that's been a major frustration for me since I started using a paintbrush a few
years ago. So fine lining, if you're wondering about this brush that I'm using, it's nothing
special, it's just something that I created to make my life a little bit easier. So that tutorial
will be listed in the drop down menu in the description for this video as well, or if you
can't find it, it will be on my channel. Now all this black paint is wet still, so be careful if
you start filling things in like I am going to. I'm using a vintage tea rose pink for the nose
portion, so I am being very careful to not get my tea rose mixed with the black in the nostrils.
It's usually best to wait till your black paint is dry so that you don't end up making a mess of
things. So I'm not showing a very good example of that right now, but I've had a little bit more
practice, so I'm being careful, let's just say. So our cow is going to have the cutest pink nose.
We are going to do some definition on the nose using a sponge a little bit later and a little
bit of brown paint and you'll see that the nose doesn't look so bright pink after all. The pink
is actually very pale, it looks a lot brighter on this video for some reason, but it's actually
quite pale and it's perfect for little piglet noses or little cow noses like this. Now I've
just kind of outlined an area where I want to keep it light, keep it white, and then the rest
of my cow is going to be brown and then we are going to use sponges to kind of highlight some
of the body and face of the cow, but really we're only using brown white for this cow today. It's
not going to be a black and white cow, but you can change it and turn it into a black and white cow
if you want to, that's completely up to you. I like brown cows and I think they're super cute
and for the longest time my son thought that brown cows brought chocolate milk
and they don't and I hope that he hasn't been traumatized by that, but
yep he actually thought that for a little while. So brown cows have just kind of stuck with me.
So I am sponging on my brown paint and it is Burnt Umber. It is DecoArt Crafters acrylic paint which
I buy from Dollarama from our local dollar store and it is perfect. It works just fine for this
project and for many more. So I kind of use my fine lining brush to outline everything that I
want brown, but then I fill it in using the sponge and I do two coats. So make sure that you
have all of that mint and white background covered up with your brown paint. Let it dry or get out
your hair dryer on a cool setting if you're impatient like me and dry it and then do your
second coat and then and then we can work with it once that second coat is dry. Now I am going to
outline everything with my lining brush afterwards but right now we're going to work
on putting some definition on her nose and yes I am going right over top of her nostril
but that's okay because we're going to redefine her nostril once we're done making her nose look
a little bit more like a cow nose. So I'm literally using my brown paint and I'm going around
the nose with my fine lining brush and then I'm using a sponge to kind of blend it upwards
into the pink. Then I'm going to go and get some more of my vintage pink and kind of blend that in
to the brown so there's a nice smooth transition from the pink to the brown. It's hard to explain
but I'm hoping that I'm showing you with the steps that I'm doing. Now I'm bringing a little
bit of that brown mixed with the vintage pink and I'm bringing it up it's not quite the center
of her nose but that's okay maybe she's turned to the side a little bit right so that's we're just
going to bring that center up a little bit so that it looks a little bit more realistic and
then I'm going to show you where those nostrils are again. Make sure you get everything outlined
underneath the nose there where the lip begins. I made sure to separate those with a nice thick
black line there. The mouth I guess you can say where the lip starts. Now I'm going to use a camel
color but very small amount a very small amount on my sponge just to kind of give some of the fur
on the cow some some shine some sheen. So I want to keep her brown but I do want her to look a
bit shiny in parts so it's going to be a little bit lighter just under her eyes upper nose on the
bottom edges of her ears as well as her chest and a little bit of her side shoulder because she is
turned to the side a little bit. So what I do is I just use the camel color with a sponge very small
amount and sponge it on where I want it to be and then I can go back with the dark brown and fix
anything that I need to fix as well as smooth the transition between the lighter brown and the
darker brown. You want to just kind of have a little bit on your sponge in order to blend those
together. Now I put a little bit of black right at the inner corners of the ears so it looks like
they're actually ears all a little bit of shading. Sorry for spinning her around like that if you
guys get dizzy I apologize. It is sped up so I have to keep that in mind. Now I'm just kind of
adjusting the shape of her eyes a little bit because they look a little bit wonky right now
um so I am going to just adjust that and if you want to pause it once I have that done
um I went around with my fine lining brush you can see it's all shiny and thick. Now I'm going in
with my blending brush to just kind of smush down those lines and even it out with the rest of the
cow's face so you just kind of want to blend it in you don't want to leave all your your brush strokes
sitting there around the eyes so I always blend if I don't have a small enough sponge to blend
I use a blending brush which will be located in the description as well the tutorial uh for my
blending brush. So I am just bringing the white very small amount once again on a fresh sponge
always use a different sponge if you're using a different color because you don't want any of
those colors to mix and mingle together. So I just used a little bit of white to bring that up the
nose a little bit and outlining everything with black if you don't like the looks of outlining
your work with black it's definitely an option you can leave out I just find it cleans everything up
a little bit more for me so it's something you don't have to do but I'm doing it. So as you can
see I've outlined the nose the mouth the lip I've gone around the face to make sure that there's an
outline there and around the ears to clean those up as well. You can do like a shaggy looking cow
with like curly blonde hair you can do longer hair on it completely you can change the whole
look of it. My beautiful cow is just very soft and sleek and no stray hairs hanging out anywhere.
Now I'm going to do just some random unrealistic flowers and stuff to go on her head for a crown
and you can do whatever you want when it comes to this part you can use whatever colors you can just
kind of look at my idea and create something completely different it's up to you guys I'm
just giving you a little bit of a template to work with. So I love eucalyptus so I'm gonna like
pretend that these are eucalyptus sprigs that she's gotten into and they are now stuck on her head.
I am going to outline a couple of things with gold so keep that in mind you're going to need
to pick up some gold. Once again all the pink colors will be listed in the description. So
the first color green I used was a hunter green which is also from my local dollar store and the
next green I'm using for a cute little yellow flowers is bright green from Folk Art and it's
it's a little bit lighter a little bit bolder than the eucalyptus sprigs that I've just done
and really just some random stems coming down and I'm just going to put yellow dots with my
dotting tools on each end of the stems that are coming out there. That's a simple easy easy easy
technique to have like a little mixture of flowers. Dots work fantastic for certain things.
I'm gonna add some flowers we're gonna use purple and coral and pink or magenta. Here's where I
bring her eyes alive so she doesn't look like a zombie cow looking at us anymore. It's as quick
and simple as four little blobs of white paint on her eye. It's just all about the placement.
Now their eyes are very round and so make sure you define the white around the the sides of
the eye. Also I did a quick underline with a little fine line of gold. You'd be surprised
what that little line of gold does to your creature's eyes. It it does fantastic things.
It just gives it a little glimmer right there. Now I'm going to I have added some little eyelashes.
They're very very tiny. It's really hard for you to see on the video but keep that in mind. I did
add eyelashes. You can take a look at cute cows or cows with flower crowns and see how their eyelashes
are or you could just wing it like me and give her short eyelashes like me. So I've used sponges again
to just create four petals with a dark eggplant purple and then I used a smaller sponge to do
another smaller eggplant purple flower and then I've added a lavender sponge dab right on top.
So it's literally just a sponge dab that's it nothing special to that and then a big black
dot in the center. Make sure you let the black dots dry or else you could make a mess of everything.
Now I'm going to just do a four petaled flower just random nothing realistic here about these
flowers and it's going to be a fire coral. That's the color I'm using and after the fire coral I'm
going to add a little bit of magenta to it as well which you will see in a moment. Once it's all
drawn in with my fine lining brush I then take a sponge and dab it on because I get the best
coverage when I use a sponge but I did use two coats of that fire coral color and now I'm going
in with a little bit of magenta just a small amount and and kind of uh I guess darkening the
inner part of that fire coral flower. So you can see I just keep putting a little bit more
of the fire coral it looks like a big blob sitting there on top of her head but we're
going to turn it into a flower now using my fine lining brush and I'm just lining it with the dark
magenta color um and we're going to leave it like that I'm not even going to outline the flowers
with black. Big dab of magenta in the center a big dot and then I'm actually going to leave that
dot wet and drag out all these little fine little stems. I'm dragging it out with my fine lining
brush so make sure you do that while the black paint is still wet and then I'm using a little
dotting tool to put little black dots on the ends of all those little stems. Once again not realistic
flowers but that's okay they're going to look amazing anyway. Little gold accent dots in the
center of those flowers and I'm also going to outline all of my eucalyptus and I'm not being
a perfectionist about it either I'm just kind of gently outlining making sure that there is
an outline of gold there but I'm not being too specific with it just want to make sure I get
some gold in there love me some gold I'm spinning her right round baby right round isn't she adorable
my goodness so you know I'm not going to leave you without sparkle so the background I am gently
using a little bit of hologram 2796 and a fan brush just gently brushing it on in the areas
that is mint green and white and that's going to look amazing once it's resined which you're going
to see very very soon make sure you sign your work guys and seal it so you don't lose your
beautiful artwork as well so here it is you'll see it resin short here it is everybody you're
going to see it now covered in resin and I'm going to slow it down in a minute just so that you can
see the glitter of it all hopefully if I slow it down you'll be able to see the glitter in the
background it just really sets it off nicely so that's one step I do recommend the glitter in the
background it just changes everything so thank you guys so much for watching for painting with me
