Should dogs watch TV? Do they even understand that they are watching TV?
Welcome to Factual Sensation. In this video, we're going to answer the question,
should dogs watch TV? First, let's consider whether dogs can even watch TV. And if they can,
do they watch TV like us humans do? Studies have shown that dogs can indeed visually recognize
images of other dogs. So dogs are smart enough to recognize other animals on TV as if in real life.
Another thing to consider is that dogs visually process information faster than humans. So a
regular TV program shown at the normal 24 frames per second would seem like a flickering old movie
to dogs. Also, dogs only see in two primary colors, yellow and blue. Humans see color
combinations from three primary colors of red, green, and blue. So dogs are basically colorblind
for certain colors compared to humans. Okay, so let's get back to the question.
Should you let your dog watch TV? Our opinion is yes, you should let your dog watch TV,
but as a way to enrich the experience or as a form of soft therapy. If your dog seems interested in
the images on the TV, that may keep your dog more stimulated, entertained, and relaxed. Also,
it seems that TV can play a role in reducing separation anxiety in some dogs. Watching TV
can also help some dogs to get over fear of loud noises. Believe it or not, there is actually a TV
channel service available just for dogs. They play programs at high frame rate and in dichromatic
vision to accommodate the vision of dogs. So there you have it. We think dogs should watch TV,
but more as a treat or a form of soft therapy. Just don't overdo it. You really don't want to
turn your dog into a cash potato, do you? Thanks for watching. Don't forget to subscribe for more.
