All right, we are at Killington Bike Park, which you know for someone who lives in Vermont,
I don't get out here nearly enough, but check out this view. It has easily one of the best
views of any bike park in New England Northeast. I can't think of another. Yeah. On today's ride,
we have Andrew who's been in a lot of my videos, a newcomer, which Billy? Rich. Rich. I heard
Billy and that's what my brain stuck with. And then of course you've got Haley. And then we got
another person somewhere around here, over there. I think he was in the porta potty doing whatever
he was doing. So we are going to go do some downhill gravel grinding for about five minutes
and then go do some trail riding. The thing about Killington is if you go to the top of K1,
about 50% of your time is spent bombing down fire roads. Technically call this trail like
off the top or something like that, which sure, I guess it's a trail. There's also another trail
to our left called Scarecrow, but I used to race down here quite a bit in my downhill racing days
and it was one of the longest races of the season. And actually, this is the first place
I ever rode downhill. Like we're going to go head up to a cable trail, which is probably one of the
iconic trails on this mountain and especially off the K1 gondola.
Yeah, buddy. Nose bonk over.
Yeah, you'd come here, hop the roots. You'd actually have to come off right here.
You could definitely do it. Yeah. All right, drop in.
That is like, thanks man.
There's people behind me like, what did you just do? Where did you take off from?
Those guys didn't know it was you and they panicked. They were like, oh my God,
they thought you were going down. And then the other guy was like, oh no, that was Phil.
They were like, he did that on purpose. Yeah. You good? Oh, it looks like they've
maintained this pretty well. Maybe I spoke too soon. I don't remember those trying to
know the gist of how they're laid out. I swear. I think you just had a little bit of a kicker.
Yeah. Just all these like stash features would be so perfect on a bike.
Do you have any interest in checking out Yovini? It's pretty full on.
Now we're going to go down Yovini. Yovini's been here for ages. It merits its double black
trail status. That's actually always fun. Is there anything after this?
That's actually really dry compared to how it is normally.
Nice. Yeah. So we went to Sugarbush last week. I did the downhill on this.
That place is fast. Yeah. It was fast, but rough. I was just like,
where are you headed off? Are you headed back tomorrow or?
No, after tomorrow. Yeah. Because Bolton is riding pretty good lately. What Bolton is really
good at is like the hybrid tech where you have some natural stuff with some man-made
berms to assist the flow. I don't really race much downhill anymore, but I love that place.
Oh yeah. I love janky rocks like this. All right. This is where trails get very kind of flat
and XC-ish for a little bit. I mean, maybe not XC-ish, but
not as pitched down as I'd like. Some pirate lines. You can get behind that.
Oh dude. I did not chose the worst line every option. I think we might be competing for worst
lines. I hope you didn't follow me through some of that because I have no idea where I'm going.
I had no idea where I was going. All right. I'm going to go. You know, this section of trail
is actually kind of fun when it's dry, but it's usually wet out here. So
I kind of avoid coming to this section. What is rattling? Yeah.
There's part of me that wants to take like freaking expanding foam and just like...
So this trail used to be called Blue Magic, but then they moved Blue Magic to the other side of
the trail or other side, meaning Ramset. I actually like this trail better than Blue Magic or Black
Magic. I don't know. I feel like there's a bit more variety. Some of these jumps are just more
interesting, I feel. Even though they're not quite as big as stuff over on Black Magic.
Slow it down because this jump is really easy to overshoot. So on our last run, we ended up
running into Madison and Brian, was it? And apparently she's hit Fort Hill on what looks
like to be a cross country bike. 120. 120? That is nuts. All right. So we're going to head down
to Scarecrow this time and take this outside line. I don't know if either of these lines are
better. I feel like if you don't know this place, it's kind of really easy to miss
this trail because you're not looking for it. But right here, there is a trail.
Kind of got this awkward little like water making pump you gotta go over.
Man, that was actually bigger than I remember it. So that was a good one for a case for the Mondays.
I like this kind of natural like
That rock's taking out two people.
Yeah, I think this has gone even more bony compared to the last time I rode this.
I mean, it's not like it's magically going to snow dirt, so.
And onto some fire road for a bit. Compton's favorite thing. We're going to go check out
the other part of this Scarecrow. So I'm going to use my walking feature.
For an enduro stage, this is the trail I'm thinking of. You see a lot of pictures of it
from ESC. Doesn't get super steep, but like baby head rocks it. When I last rode it,
which was like years ago, it was easier than what we rode.
Okay. I mean, I don't, the other part of the like Steel Panther is just so flat and traversy.
Like I just want something different. All right. Let's see how this goes.
Got a little whiskey back there. Oh yeah. I love one. It sends you straight into uphill.
Yeah, it does.
All right. All right. I'm not sure if I would do that again.
Parts like parts of that, they're super fun,
but then there's everything in between that are just like
you're good. You're good. You're good. Oh no, no. You're fine. You're fine.
You're ahead. So you're good.
Adds to the fun. That rock drop was sweet. I was like, I had the same space. I was like,
I saw you off the group ball. I was drifting out and I was trying to hit your line around
that berm and jump. And I was like, yeah. And then just like started drifting. It was like,
in the air, like crazy. It was fun. All right. Onto something. Whoa, this is new.
Yeah. I like new stuff. New features. Yay. What is this? This is sweet. Oh, I miss that.
Cool. So they are building some new stuff out. That makes me happy. Some really good stuff.
I should add that was, that was a pleasant surprise to have some smooth trail.
Oh, it's very well built. That was perfect. I was all squirrelly hitting it. Cause I was
like last minute I saw you, I was like, oh, I'll do that. Hit it. And I was like, oh,
this feels real nice. Okay. I think the road gap is like right up here.
Judging by what you had said, like when you were following us, I was just like, all right,
he's going to, he's going to be able to read. I'm paddling. He's going to figure something's
coming up. You'll be fine. Thank you. Stinky. I think is the name of this trail. No crusty.
And last video I made, I was reviewing footage and, uh, it sounds like the, uh,
wind mufflers had stopped working. So I went ahead and replaced them before riding today.
So hopefully the audio is a lot better. That is, uh, that's pretty beat up.
Like maintain as much speed through that, like flat rock garden. Which one?
They're all flat. Like the first one that like really slow down. Man, I've never seen this trail
so dry. It's actually kind of incredible. It can be so dry.
All right. There's a little bit of a step down up here.
What if I come off the pedal there? That's funny. It's like a non-funny way. Okay.
So when I was down at, um, wind rock, uh, Niko's brother recommended it. And so I did some like
sleuthing after that day. And I was like, Oh, it's been down here building it.
What's going on, man. Nice job in the last weekend.
So right now I'm following Isaac Aylor. Oh, so Isaac just won the Red Bull raw slalom. So he's
been on a kind of a tear this year. Getting dusty back here. Dusty and crusty. That bike looks way
too clean. What are you these days? 53. Gives me hope. And then I was riding with Wayne who he,
he'll be 62 on the 4th of August. Really? Damn. I love it. I love it.
Yo, what was your name? I'm Adrian. Adrian. Nice to meet you. Yeah. Pleasure, man.
Yeah. I will say this trail is a lot more fun when you're following people.
So when you're following people, a lot of times you catch up to the rider in front of you because
they're catching their draft. So I'm constantly kind of pulsing the brake,
trying to get out of his like airstream. So I'm not like riding up on his back wheel too much.
That jumps tight. My hands are feeling it. Looks like we're catching up to somebody.
Yeah. Grom is boosting it. Yeah. Oh, that was a good way to finish.
All right. I kind of wish I had like stagnated lips. Yeah. I like, I like that. They're like
poppy. They have a little bit more character than in years past. One of the ones that you just
redid is like awesome. Like, yes, more of that. Yeah. That was the first time I'd hit it. So I
didn't really know what to expect. All right. Well, uh, the last few laps were, uh, kind of
a heater, huh? My hands are still hurting from that. Anyway, if you haven't seen my last video,
uh, from, uh, Bolton Valley, that was actually kind of a sleeper video. I think, uh, I think
you guys will really like it. That place has kind of really turned into one of my favorite places
to ride. So anyways, that's where we're going to leave off this video as always. My name is Phil
Metz. Thanks for playing bikes with me today. I'll see you guys next time. Peace.
