Hey guys, welcome back to But First Coffee where life begins after coffee. Today I'm going to share
with you 20 fashion hacks that every woman and in some cases men should know. If you're not already
subscribed make sure you subscribe so you don't miss any more videos like this and let's go ahead
and get started. Get the perfect shirt cuff. Want a cuffed shirt that will even make the J. Crew
mannequins swoon with envy? I got you. The trick is not to just roll it up like you probably have
been doing. What you're going to do is take the shirt and you're going to fold it in half so that
the cuff lays about where you want it to lay when you're completely done. Then you're going to fold
one more time getting a nice crisp looking cuff. Remove deodorant smudges. We've all been there.
Oh crap. Don't try to use water on this. Instead just grab an unscented dryer sheet and use that
to simply smudge away the smudge. Eliminate unwanted smells from clothing. Sometimes clothing
can acquire a scent that isn't really desirable. You can help to diminish this odor by just taking
a little bit of vodka, dilute it with a little bit of water, put it in a spray bottle, and simply
spray the entire article of clothing to help diminish that odor. Another thing that vodka
can eliminate is just a long sad hard day at work. Gone. Just kidding that was water. Or maybe it
wasn't. Well you'll never know. Change up the look of a dress using a button-up. There's nothing
better than finding ways to make pieces that are already in our wardrobe more versatile and this
trick is a great way to do that. So grab any button-up. You can do long sleeve, short sleeve.
I'm doing a sleeveless one here. You're going to button it down just above your belly button. Then
you're just going to go ahead and tie off the excess of the shirt and you're basically just
going to roll it up and tuck it underneath. Now you can see it sort of looks like you have created
a whole separate top to your outfit. You can finish this off with a belt as well just to make the
piece look a little bit more put together. But this is such a simple trick to take a dress that
is already in your wardrobe and switch it up a little bit. Secure a loose fitting top with fashion
tape. We all have that piece in our wardrobe that we absolutely love but it just lays a little too
low. You know what I mean. You can take some fashion tape which is just a simple double-sided
tape that is designed to adhere to not just clothing but also to your skin and you can
strategically place these pieces of fashion tape and you can use this to make sure that that top
is not going anywhere. Once you have fashion tape in your arsenal you will find so many uses for
this stuff. It is such a life changer. Seriously just keep it in your wallet or in your car at all
times. Fix a broken zipper. We all have that one pair of jeans where the zipper just does not want
to stay up. That seriously drives me crazy. It's like zipper you have one job. You can fix this
really easily by just taking a key ring, attach it to the zipper, and then put the key ring over
the button before you button your pants. This will help to hide the key ring and it'll also keep
that zipper up. Because even though you're wearing really cute underwear you don't really want
everyone in the office to know what color it is. Buy yourself a sticky bra. If you don't know what
a sticky bra is it looks like this. It is basically just the front of a bra and the side that goes up
against your skin is sticky. That's where it gets the name sticky bra. You put it over one breast
and then you put it over the other breast and then you clip it in the center and it keeps everything
in place if you know what I mean while allowing you to wear tons of different tops without having
to worry about finding the right bra. You want to wear a shirt that's backless? Sticky bra. Got a
shirt where the armholes are too big? Sticky bra. Got a top that is really tight and you don't want
your bra showing? Sticky bra. Seriously my sticky bra has saved me so many times. Every single girl
needs one. Give any t-shirt that nice worn in feeling. You know that awesome soft feeling you
have in a t-shirt when you've owned it for a long time and it's been washed and washed and worn and
it's just so soft and comfortable. When you buy a new shirt you want it to be that soft and
comfortable but you don't have time for that. We live in an age of instant gratification. I want
the t-shirt soft now. Well I can't do it now but I can do it in two to three days. Take one quart of
water with a half cup of salt. About. You don't need to be super precise about it. You're going
to put your shirt into that mixture. Let it sit in there for two to three days. Take it out. Give
it a wash in your washing machine and you will have a much softer worn in feeling t-shirt. Let's
talk jewelry. I'm talking how to get your diamonds or any gems really shining at home. My engagement
ring and the diamond in my engagement ring is all over a hundred years old. It is an old cut
diamond. The people that my fiancee bought it from specialize in vintage engagement rings and
they told us very precisely to never get this ring high polished like the kind of polishing
that you would get done at a jewelry store. The two things they should suggest you use to clean
your diamonds and I have tried it with my diamond. It works like a miracle is Windex and vodka. Again
vodka is another savior. It does more than just make a really good cocktail. You're going to want
to buy a super soft bristled brush. Use this with a little bit of Windex and you can clean your
entire ring or whatever jewelry you're trying to wash. Next I come in with the vodka on a q-tip.
Because the vodka is high alcohol proof it dries really fast so it's a great thing to use at the
very end to ensure that there's no wetness and everything is just pristine and perfect. You are
going to get a gorgeous looking diamond or whatever gem you are doing at home without having to go to
the shop and pay for it to get high polished. Also like I said before it is a great way to clean any
antique jewelry you have that you don't want to ruin by getting high polished. Break in a new pair
of shoes with a hair dryer. Y'all know that trouble of trying to break in a new pair of shoes and you
walk around like stumbling for a few days. It's not cute and you don't need to do it. Put on a pair
of really heavy duty thick wool socks. Squeeze your foot into that shoe that you want to get worn in.
You give it a good burst with the hair dryer. You want to completely warm up the entire shoe and
then you want to let the shoe completely cool. This will help the shoe just expand a tiny bit,
give you a little bit more room and really help the shoe get that nice worn in feel. Make a quick
bag from a tank top. Maybe you're at the beach or you're on vacation or you just need something to
help you carry a few more things. If you have an extra tank top lying around it's really easy to
make it into a quick one-time use bag to carry some stuff. All you're going to do is turn your
tank top inside out. You're going to knot the part around the waist that would go at the bottom.
Turn it back right side out and now you've got yourself a nice little bag you can throw some
stuff in here. Whatever you need to do it's nice to know that you have an extra pair of hands when
you're in a pickle. Let's talk some tricks for your closet. First one is use hangers to help you
purge the pieces you don't wear in your wardrobe. So next time you purge your closet or just right
now go take all your hangers and flip them around so they are backwards. Next time you take out a
shirt when you hang it back up you can hang it back up right side up. After a couple of months
to a year you can really get a good picture from your closet of what you're wearing and what you're
not wearing based on the hangers that are still backwards. Use soda tabs to make more room in your
closet. Also really great for pairing out outfits. What you're going to do is simply take a soda tab
you're going to put it over the hanger and then you can hang another hanger on the soda tab. So
now you not only have more space in your closet because you have less hangers hanging on the rods
but I also like this because sometimes I will pair certain things together that I know I like to wear
together or if I'm planning my outfits for the week I can put my bottoms down there. My next two
hacks sort of teeter between beauty and fashion but I decided to put them in fashion hacks. The
first one is save yourself when you've put on a little too much perfume. Take a little bit of
rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab and swab it in the areas where you put the perfume. This will help
to rub away some of that perfume and diminish that smell a little bit. Invest in airbrushed
legs. If you have the perfect outfit that shows off your legs but your legs are less than perfect
looking, they're bruised or you've got some varicose veins or you just got scratches on them,
let's be honest it is not that easy to keep your legs looking flawless all the time. This stuff is
made by Sally Hansen. I swear by it. I've talked about it in videos before but basically you spray
this onto your legs, you rub it in a little bit. It really helps to just hide any imperfection.
If you're wearing a really great dress or really great pair of shorts, you have some really great
outfit for like a wedding or a night out or whatever, having a perfect pair of flawless
legs just puts it all together and you will not regret using those airbrushed legs. I swear by it.
My last few tips are for when you are actually shopping. The first one is stop going out to shop
in like your sweatpants and your messy bun and no makeup on your face. Not that there's anything
wrong with going out without makeup. I go out without makeup all the time. But if you're
specifically going out and you know you want to buy some new outfits, something new for the season
or whatever, take a little bit of time just to put on a little makeup and do your hair because
then when you're trying on the outfits in the fitting room you're going to feel a lot more
confident. If you're not feeling good about the way that you look, you're less likely to feel
confident in any of the outfits that you are trying on. Don't buy pieces that you're not going
to actually care for. This means if you're out and you're trying on an outfit and you really like
some blazer or some sweater but it says dry clean only and you can't remember the last time you went
to a dry cleaner, don't buy it because you're not going to properly care for it. It's just a waste
of your money. Size up when you're buying shorts. Now I'm talking specifically jeans but most of us
tend to wobble between two sizes. When you're buying pants jeans it's usually easier to go
down one size but when you're buying shorts I always go to my slightly higher size and this is
for a few reasons. I want my shorts a little bit looser. I want them looser around my legs. I don't
want them pinching around my thighs at all because the pinching one just doesn't look very flattering
but it also just makes things like cellulite appear a lot more. If you get a pair of shorts
that are a little looser around the leg they're not going to pinch there and they're going to look
so much more flattering. Trust me. The other things it's nice to have a pair of shorts that are just a
tiny bit more wiggle room around your waist. I feel like when we're wearing shorts it's warmer
out we're a little more likely to wear a shirt that might show a tiny bit of our midriff a little
bit of skin and you don't want like any extra pinching there because you're not going to feel
comfortable. Like I said this is mostly just for jean shorts and for jean shorts that are mid to
low rise. Listen to your friends but also listen to your heart when you're shopping.
It's always good to go shopping with somebody else. Everybody likes somebody else's opinion
but if you're in the dressing room and you try something on and your friend doesn't really like
it don't totally nix it. Even though that piece might not be for your friend you might know that
you can totally rock it. You might know how you want to wear it. They might not have the exact
style that you have. The nice thing about style is that it's totally independent and we all have
style that's a tiny bit different. If you really want something and you really like the way it
looks then just get it because it's going to make you happy. All right guys that does it for all of
my fashion hacks. I hope some of these were new and helpful for you. In case you haven't seen it
