Welcome to Anchal.
It's written with C, but the pronunciation is ch, like anchal.
Ladies and gentlemen, we're ready to take off.
Good morning from Jakarta, Indonesia.
I'm having at the moment a mix of typical Indonesian
with Renata-style breakfast.
Here's the rice.
And I read online that typically Indonesians eat rice three times a day.
So, starting me right.
If you're new to this channel, welcome.
I'm Renata. I'm a journalist.
And in addition to seeing beautiful places,
I'm hoping that here you'll learn a thing or two with me.
We've already seen most well-known areas in Jakarta.
So, today we're going to a favorite destination for Indonesians.
It's a resort community here called Anchal with lots of attractions.
Anchal is especially popular on weekends.
Today is Wednesday, so it should be quieter.
Let's see.
Hello.
When you come here by Grab, they'll drop you right at the entrance
because cars and motorcycles, they have to pay also to go inside.
This is a private area.
We already bought our tickets online,
so we just come here to the pedestrian entrance.
Thank you.
Terima kasih.
Can you show me the tickets?
Oh, easy.
That was so easy. Yeah.
Here's our card.
Rp. 3,000.
Yeah, we saved Rp. 3,000 each.
Woohoo!
Tickets are Rp. 25,000 per person.
We bought ours online for Rp. 22,000, right?
Yes.
Yeah.
Right here.
That's right here.
Okay.
Theme parks all around.
Yeah, and the beaches are over here.
On the...
Okay.
Let's see this area here first.
Being right here, it's easy to walk to this park,
apparently.
But not all the way here.
Where did you get this map?
You took a picture?
Online.
Oh, look at you.
So smart-smart.
Someone asked me.
And that's me, baby.
Who asked the map?
Welcome to Ang Chow,
the largest integrated tourism area in the entire Southeast Asia.
Oh, we couldn't rent a bike.
And it's an electric bike.
DUFUN stands for Dunia Fantasy,
the main theme park here.
Looks like it's the main attraction here,
the theme park everyone wants to go.
If you just come here walking directly from the entrance,
in less than five minutes, you arrive at Dunia Fantasy,
which is the main attraction here.
But Dunia Fantasy is a theme park.
We could easily spend the whole day there.
As it is our first time at Ang Chow,
we just want to explore, see what else is here,
because there are so many different things.
There are even beaches here.
So, that's what you can expect for this video.
Yes, I like ice.
You pay to get in here at Ang Chow,
but once you're here, the attractions are also paid.
On weekdays, everything is cheaper.
Opening hours are also different,
Monday through Thursday,
10 a.m. to 6 p.m. only.
On Fridays, when they're open until later.
Wow, it is big.
It is a big park.
Looks like lots of thrill rides,
roller coasters and everything.
Free shuttle, and you can get in and get out
as many times as you want to go see different places here.
We were here. This is Dufan.
And got the bus until here.
We're now at Atlantis.
Another theme park here. This is Atlantis.
It's a water park.
If you're staying in Jakarta for an extended period of time,
this sounds like a really good idea.
It is hot and humid here the whole time.
This is cheaper.
There are probably all kinds of events here.
I'm seeing ramps over there.
There are paddle boats over there, too.
We're just here too early.
See something? I saw a fish jumping there.
Yes.
Didn't see?
Sharks.
Sharks, yeah.
We're here at the wrong time.
Wrong date, wrong time.
There's only us.
We got the park to ourselves.
Whole thing to ourselves.
Look at the prices here.
Basically, everything is cheaper on weekdays.
Exactly because it's like this.
Much quieter.
You can go for a boat ride here, too.
Terima kasih.
How much?
Rp. 200,000.
Rp. 200,000?
Rp. 200,000.
It's expensive.
Oh, it's expensive. Terima kasih.
He said that it was Rp. 200,000 for both of us.
And I said, no way, too expensive.
Then he said, then Rp. 100,000.
Like, immediately.
Oh, yeah, of course.
This is probably the most popular beach here.
A lot of people hanging out,
just having a good time.
This is probably the favorite beach here.
But look at how interesting.
Instead of people staying here on the sand,
just hanging,
no, they prefer to stay on this side,
underneath the trees,
just enjoying the shade and a cool breeze.
What did you get?
Coca.
What is it?
Tea?
What did you drink?
You have no idea what you got.
Is that what you're saying?
What did you get?
Don't know what you got?
I know. Mine is a lemon tea.
Lemon iced tea.
It's very good.
Deliciously cold.
And here we are at another beach,
Carnival Beach.
Does the name of this beach remind you of anything?
Copacabana.
This is Carnival Beach on a Wednesday morning.
Two tickets, please.
Thank you.
Terima kasih.
Yeah. Terima kasih.
Terima kasih.
Can we go in and come back?
Yeah. Stop here and finish.
Oh, stop here and finish. Okay.
There are three stops, so apparently, we can get back in.
That's nice.
Terima kasih.
What did you hit there?
Me?
The camera. I hope it was not the camera.
It's gonna be hot.
There's some air here.
Oh, there's air here, too.
See? It's all open.
It's gonna go.
It takes off its feet.
Park here.
This water looks amazing.
We were a little early at the lagoon.
All kinds of things going on here now.
Look at it now.
People are skiing here.
Get out here. No, don't get out here.
Oh, there's something here.
Look at this.
It's a dinosaur there.
It's Terminator here.
Oh, my God. Come on.
Jet Ski Academy, Indonesia.
It's a hotel here.
Actually, I believe there are various hotels here in Ancho.
This is actually a very popular place for New Year's.
Is it? Yeah, I'm sure.
There are fireworks and everything.
It should be fun.
There's an airplane right there.
Right here in the middle.
Oh, God, I got to take a picture of this.
Get ready.
I'm gonna check out this area now.
Atasione A Gondola.
Terima kasih.
He confirmed that we could get out and get back in
as long as we show our stamps.
But let me see your stamps.
Can you see anything?
It's all gone now.
And there was just one ride, one way.
This is what happened.
That's what humility does to you.
This whole region here used to be a swamp.
Seriously.
Now, it's a favorite destination for Indonesians.
Oh, here's the plane.
Let's find out what's this.
It's a plane.
It's a plane?
We need to find out.
What is it doing here?
It crashed.
The plane is a restaurant, actually.
It's a real plane right here.
And you can get in.
Terima kasih.
Totally feels like lunch in business class.
Look at this.
This is a real airplane.
Oh.
Mm-hmm.
Terima kasih.
What face is this?
Good food. Happy, happy.
We chose, chose, chose, and ended up ordering the same thing.
Both of us.
This is nasi goreng ayam,
which is fried rice with chicken.
That is the chicken with black pepper, right?
Mm-hmm.
Mmm.
The flavor of this rice.
It is so good.
It's so unique.
Black pepper chicken.
A little bit sweet.
It's very spicy, too.
I'm kidding.
Who's telling me it's not spicy?
The name is black pepper chicken.
What do you think?
Do you think it's not spicy?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's like a normal cracker you'd have at home.
Very nice.
Look at you.
Look at me.
How come you're always so fast?
Always?
All the time?
Oh.
That was very, very good.
Business-class lunch, but not business-class prices.
It was very affordable here.
Ah!
Did you know that that would happen?
I tested.
I tested to see if it worked.
Wow.
Oh, a bathroom.
Oh, I got to put this on.
Ladies and gentlemen, we're ready to take off.
Oh, my.
So much you got to know.
I have to see you there, baby.
No way, the bathroom is here, too?
Okay, plastic off.
Flaps down.
It don't work.
No.
We go down fast.
We go up.
How do you take off?
I go like this.
Yes.
Wow.
You don't have much of a view here when you're sitting here, right?
No.
Wow, crazy.
You're getting claustrophobic?
Yeah.
Okay.
So imagine spending how many hours here?
12 hours here.
Spot right here.
Where?
This one.
It says automatic.
Okay.
It identifies itself.
This is all part of the restaurant, too.
And everybody prefers to dine here outside.
It's so much better inside and it's air-conditioned.
How much did we pay here in total?
How many?
No, R$160,000.
How much is that?
R$160,000.
It's $11.42.
No way.
No.
R$11.42?
Yeah.
You can't have calculated all that like that.
Why not?
I have the Intel CPU.
Intel CPU here.
Intel. AMD.
Very affordable for a restaurant like this, huh?
You recognize this place from the pictures you saw?
Oh, yes.
Ba-du-ba-du, ba-du-ba-du, ba-du-ba-du, ba-du-ba-du.
Ba-du-ba-du, yeah.
Ba-du-ba-du, ba-du-ba-du, ba-du-ba-du.
It's not red.
Ba-du-ba-du, ba-du-ba-du, ba-du-ba-du, ba-du-ba-du.
That's right.
It's black.
This is a real temple.
It exists here in Indonesia.
It's called Burubudur, located in central Java.
It's the single most visited attraction in the entire country.
And we're going there on this trip.
So excited.
Look at this space here now.
It's like a lot of art galleries on both sides.
As you walk, you see all the art.
It's beautiful.
Born to be real, not to be perfect.
So true.
Another theme park here.
Babe, just for you. Enjoy the mist.
Ha-ha-ha.
You're gonna stand right here now?
Hold it. Hold it.
There's even SeaWorld here.
But this SeaWorld has nothing to do with U.S. SeaWorld.
Just the same name and same theme,
but totally different companies.
As far as I understand, SeaWorld here is not a theme park.
Creative way to tackle the plastic issue here, right?
I can't understand what it says in Indonesian,
but I believe they're trying to show that all the plastic
that goes to the ocean is killing sharks,
jellyfish, and seahorses.
Bye.
Hmm.
This is what a romantic sunset is for us.
Both of us with our cameras.
Ha-ha-ha.
Terima kasih.
Happy now?
Ha-ha-ha.
I wish you luck.
Ha-ha-ha.
Yeah.
That is Brazil coconut.
Ha-ha-ha.
Just got a nice place here to enjoy the sunset.
And as we walked in,
she insisted so much for me to try this coconut here.
She said it's jelly coconut.
I was afraid it would be like jellyfish and coconut,
but, no, she said it's a dessert.
She said it's a very good dessert here, so why not?
Coconut flan.
So, you got the flan here,
and here, the real coconut.
It's very, very good.
Where is your stamp?
Oh, totally gone.
Ha-ha-ha.
Look at mine. What a disaster.
Ha-ha-ha.
We're now back at the hotel, refreshed,
enjoying the rooftop view,
seeing the traffic down there.
Where were the traffic?
Ha-ha-ha.
Having rice for the third time, Gordon?
Gordon, rice?
Ha-ha-ha.
It was interesting to see Anchal today.
It was full of school excursions.
I guess all the kids, they go to learn about sea animals,
while all the teenagers were at Dufa.
There are beaches there, too, but I wouldn't recommend swimming.
They're more for enjoying the waterfront.
I think we were the only foreigners there.
And it's interesting because you see a lot of foreigners
in other places in Jakarta.
I think people normally prefer to focus on the historical aspects of the city.
Who knows?
Anyways, in the next few videos, you'll see more of Indonesia,
as we'll start traveling around.
Starting with one favorite destination, Bali.
Apparently, it is a very different place,
but with one major thing in common with Jakarta,
the traffic.
Do you consider renting a scooter?
Never.
Never?
Never say never.
Never.
You have to watch the next videos to find out.
Ha-ha-ha.
What is this?
He-he-he.
Lovely.
You must be really thirsty to be eating ice.
Yes.
Ha-ha-ha.
Go there. Go there, baby.
Ha-ha-ha.
Oh.
Another one a good day.
Ha-ha-ha.
Someone's gonna be funny.
He-he-he.
What is that?
You should go to Budu-Budu-Budu-Budu.
Budu-Budu-Budu.
Budu-Budu.
Hi, Bali. Hi, Bali. Hi.
Ha-ha-ha.
Who's looking for you?
Where were you?
Inside the air conditioner.
Ah.
Oh.
