Dear Lord, just ask that you be with us as we try to dig out this car, Father.
Just pray that you keep the angels encamped around us, keep us safe, Father.
And Lord, we just ask that we use this platform for your glory,
that you use this video for your glory, Father.
Help us to testify, Lord.
Just speak out of who you are and who you've made us to become through you, Father, Lord.
We just thank and praise you.
Love you, Lord. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
Well, what do you think on this?
I don't know. It looks like it's buried up.
Not as much to have to cut loose, it doesn't seem like, huh?
No, but it's hidden more than the other ones.
Yeah. Looks like somebody just took their old brush pile and piled it on top of it.
Yeah.
Got a wheel on, both wheels on this side.
Got one on the back. Yeah, one on the front too.
The sheet metal's not as rough as I thought it would be.
Setting on the ground, I'm sure the frame, though, may look otherwise.
I think the chore on this one is just going to be keeping the car together while we're trying to pull it out.
I don't know if it's got a motor or anything still in it or not.
I have no idea.
I hope it does, but not that it'd be any count.
Golly.
Hood's just rusted, falling apart right at their front.
Old Volkswagen wheel. Notice the old block back there too.
Yeah.
I don't know if I see an old Volkswagen square back over here.
Well, we want to get that little pole saw and start cutting some of this loose.
Yeah, maybe some gloves, and I'm coming back out your way because that way was...
Just get it where we can see it a little bit better.
I doubt, I mean, I don't know if them tires will hold there or not.
Tell this thing's been sitting here a while.
It is rough on the inside too.
Get it cleared away though where we can see it a little better and hopefully we can just winch it straight out.
Right.
But the ones that seem easily are normally the hardest ones.
So this is an old abandoned Pontiac Catalina.
You can tell this car's just been sitting out here forever.
Another one we're going to try to dig up out of the Hudson Farm here.
We bought this car really cheap.
They basically just sold it to us at scrap metal prices.
So that may be what this car's just worth.
I don't know.
We're not sure if it's got a motor transmission in it.
Just a ton of, just on this one's got a ton of vines.
A lot of little stuff we're going to have to cut loose before we can actually try to pull the car out.
So that's what we're going to do now.
Grab a couple of saws, some gloves, get all this stuff cleared off of here.
Then see what it's going to take to get it out of the hole it's in and onto the trailer.
I don't know if this stuff is loose or if it's actually still alive.
No, it ain't alive right now.
I'm at the base of the monster.
Is that that big root right there?
That's that big root right there.
That big stump.
Yep.
What a mess.
All attached.
Luckily, it looked like it was just resting on it, not really growing up on it.
Right.
Salt it down while I get...
It's crazy how long those things will grow, though.
Yeah.
That thing's grown all the way up to the top of that tree.
I'll just cut it.
I'll just pull it out of there.
I'm afraid we may have to move this pile right here, too.
This is Georgia's jungle type stuff.
Yeah.
I don't know if you can get that little bit right.
That big little one?
Yeah, it's just a little one, but it's just enough to...
All righty.
Just enough to keep me from being able to pull it in.
Bunch of thorns, though, ain't it?
Yeah, some of them got some pretty good thorns.
Well, it's got that side somewhat visible.
Well, the door looks more scary to me now than it did before.
Does it?
I guess because all the leaves have fell off on the ground and I can't see what's underneath them.
Yeah, it's an old school Volkswagen wheel there.
Big five lug pattern.
Roots growing across the hood.
It's not so bad up front here.
They sure got a neat look to the front of this car, though.
Oh, yeah?
Yeah.
Too bad it's a four-door.
I hung my back pocket with it.
Golly.
Well, that one there is attached to something.
Is it grown through the hood?
I don't know.
It's grown through.
It's got a grip back in here.
Nope.
Grown up underneath the hood?
Yeah, through the vents up here.
You don't see that every day.
Oh, yeah, that'll buff out nice.
Yeah.
Yeah, I don't know.
You know that thing has held some moisture.
Yeah, when you got roots growing across this, you know it's going to be holding some kind of moisture.
Especially in Texas.
I guess I should have brought a rake.
I'll see if I can get this open.
I'll help you out a bit.
This thing is shod on the front edge.
There we go.
It's starting to...
Well, it does have a motor in it.
Yeah.
With the air breather and everything.
I'll wait until we get it out.
Look a little bit.
Yeah.
There's about everything we've got out here.
It's probably hit the valve cover.
Oh, it's rusted out.
Yeah.
Yeah, that ain't good.
The hinge ain't wanting to go back down.
No, it's right up against it here.
We'll get it out and spray it with something.
Try to work it.
We'll clean a little bit more over there, I guess.
You think that pile behind the car is going to have to go?
Over here?
Yeah.
I think we can, if you're not scared to scratch the paint, I think we can get it out with it like it is.
It is down in a hole, though.
Yeah.
Hopefully they will take some air.
It'll take it.
Just don't know if it'll hold it.
There's a root growing through that.
A small one.
Those are always fun when they're growing through the rim.
Well, we want to try to...
I may have to back up a little further.
I don't know if our hose will reach.
I'll try to see if we can get some air and see if they'll air up.
That'll give us a little bit more clearance.
Kind of see around the car better.
So we're going to go ahead and try to shoot some air to these tires.
A lot of the times they'll surprise us and air up, especially if they've got tubes in them.
So the problem is right now there's a huge pile of bricks back there we're going to have to move just to get the trailer close enough for our hose to reach.
So we'll go ahead and get those bricks all moved out of the way and just try to shoot some air to these tires and see what they do.
Might as well try this easier one.
That one's still got a bunch of stuff piled around it just to see.
Yeah.
Try that one first.
Oh, look at this one.
Yeah, it doesn't look like they've got tubes in them, so that's not good.
Yeah, it's taking some.
Coming up.
I'm going to try to dig up a little bit around this.
It is coming up.
Just want to be able to tell what it's looking like down low.
How about that one?
It's moving.
It's coming up.
Most times when they've got tubes they will, but when they're tubeless it normally gets a bunch of dirt down in that, around that sill of the tire.
Unlike you, I don't know how much.
Yeah, you can't tell. I don't think it's...
It's enough that it's round though.
It's not just a dead flat spot on it.
It's leaking around the rim.
This one's going down as fast as it's coming up.
That's what I started to say about this one here because...
It's just leaking all around the bead.
But, at least that broke some of that dirt loose a little bit.
We'll try this other side.
We might just have to try to shoot it and...
Shoot it real quick and...
Yeah, keep going as we go.
Keep adding to it.
This one's got a hubcap.
And I see no valve stem.
Probably got to take the hubcap off to get to it.
Probably so.
Crazy.
There's no sign of a...
I guess you do.
Well...
Maybe it'll get there, maybe it won't.
No.
Yeah, I see the ground lifting.
Is the car lifting up or the ground pushing down?
Heavy as this car is.
Got a nice mud grip up here.
I think that's the one that had some small roots.
That one I think is actually holding.
Yeah.
Got 30 in it.
Let me see if I can find something to pop off this cap.
I'd like to...
Even if it goes back down, it at least kind of breaks loose some of that old dirt.
Right.
It's sad when the best thing you can find to pop off a hubcap is some old pruning shears.
Look at that.
A tire tool of some sort.
Or is it a hubcap remover?
There ain't no valve stem.
Oh yeah, there is.
I don't think it's going to take no air though, is it?
I don't know.
Any luck?
Yeah.
Really?
Huh.
I'm going to grab that jack because...
Is it going back down?
Appears to be holding it.
We're still going to need some more room to be able to get up underneath it and hook to that rear end.
I'll grab that jack and try to jack it up.
See if we can get under it better.
Just the bumper there?
There's a bumper or we can get over here and get up underneath the frame a little bit.
But it's only going to jack on one side.
Let me try the bumper just to see how it does.
Back then they were designed to lift there.
But that was back then.
There's some creaking.
Yeah.
The gas tank is laying flat.
What's left of the gas tank is laying flat.
It fell out, ain't it?
Yeah, it's starting to...
Is that wheel up off the ground yet?
It's not up off the ground.
I mean, it is, but it's still down in a hole.
Let me get a jack stand and we'll just try to put some boards underneath there.
I think that would be best.
Unless you think you can get a board now.
Depends on the size of the board, but yeah, I can get it stabbed down in it.
We'll move and I'll get another bite on that side.
Good?
Yeah.
Watch yourself.
After the jack stand.
Sinks up in the ground.
Sinks two inches.
The frame don't look bad, though.
No, it doesn't look bad.
Around the middle of the car may be a different story.
You line that up with the frame.
I can't really see.
Do I need a board to help it lift?
A big 4x4 or something?
6x6?
Yeah, because it's going to be...
Have to lift high?
Yep.
Hopefully we can slide that underneath it once.
Good right there?
Come back towards you just a hair.
Okay.
All righty.
Good?
Yeah.
I guess we need that jack stand that way.
I got it.
Got it?
Yep.
Other side, I guess?
I believe so.
That thing went back down a lot more.
It's hard to believe.
This close to Christmas and out here sweating.
Yeah.
70-something degrees in less than three weeks until Christmas.
I don't know that we'll need that.
I think you just get the board up underneath it.
Guess you need the board, though, don't you?
Yeah.
I'll go grab it.
I got one more.
I've got like a big 2x12, only one, that we could maybe lay sideways across the front
just to keep them out of the hole, but that's about it.
Oh, boy.
Ain't no way those wheels are going to roll over, you think?
Them brakes got to be locked up.
I would think so.
Is that good?
Well, it's about as good as I can get without getting back on this, and then you're not
going to be able to get the jack out.
Yeah, that should be fine.
Man, still not a lot of room.
Let's see what we could hook to.
Oh, man.
Floor pans are shot.
Axle's like six foot up there from here.
I'm going to see if I can pull this tank out.
We may have to clean that tank before we try to crank it.
Yeah.
It looks like it's an unleaded tank.
Yeah.
Got some old gas in it.
You get what you pay for.
We pay for that.
Man, I'm thinking just go around with the chain on each frame rail, and then come here
in the middle, you know?
Catch it in the middle and pull, that way we get a center pull.
Yeah, we can put a snatch block right here, and then pull it back at the trailer.
But, I don't know, on the front, we want to look at it real quick, see what it's going
to say.
Have you opened this yet?
No, that's the way it was.
It won't open.
None of the other doors on the other side would do anything either.
Yeah, we're going to have to do something.
That front is in a pretty big hole.
That side's not bad, I don't think.
That one held air over there.
Yeah.
You want to try to then jack this side?
Can.
Or do we want to try it first?
Let's try it first.
Stranger things have happened.
Like the car breaking in half?
Yeah.
The front of it staying in that hole?
So, we've got the back of the car jacked up and put some 2x6s up underneath the tires
just to get the rear tires out of the holes they're in.
The front driver's side tire held air, it aired up.
The passenger front is flat, and it's in a pretty bad hole.
But we're just going to go ahead and hook a chain to both of these frame rails in the
middle with a snatch block, and just try to pull it and see what the winch does.
Worst case scenario, the car breaks in half, or we have to jack up the front end, get that
wheel out of the hole, and then try to pull it on the trailer after that.
Honey, I get so comfortable of reaching your hand up in things until something...
Slithers.
Yeah, scares you, and then you don't want to do none of it.
Right.
There you go.
I can get it further back, I can go and then pull it this way.
I can fish this.
I don't know, my end may have a smaller end on it.
If I can get the big part through there, then I'll...
Okay.
Yeah.
I'm going to have to let you pull all the slack.
I think we'll just leave it out.
We'll have to put another chain up front there, but...
Okay, let's see if I can find a good small one.
As easy as I can.
Well, lock that thing in, and I guess I'll try to get the door open just to see if it's
in gear, but I don't think it any...
I know all them brakes are going to be locked up, so we're just going to be dragging it
anyways.
Excuse me.
Have you got it?
Yeah.
Trying to make sure it's clear.
Got some old cowboy boots up in there.
Of course.
Man, this thing is in bad shape.
Will it steer?
The dash is rusted out on it.
Yeah.
It's frozen in the shifting linkage, so I ain't going to fight it for something that
I know it's...
Yeah.
Now, if the front wheel's tired, we might try it.
Of course, it's going to pull me back to it.
Let me put that block behind my...
Is that still out here, that big block?
That block is in the back of the truck.
All right.
Save you a few steps.
Backwards, huh?
Still, just dragging me backwards.
I'm about pulled up over this block.
If I had a shovel, I might be able to loosen the hole for the...
See, I probably just need to jack up that one side.
And when we know it's...
Yeah, this side is like so.
This is.
It's in there.
Let's go ahead and jack it up then.
Worth a shot trying first.
Right.
Oh, it's a workout.
Drew blood on me.
That vine grabbed me a while ago.
I was hoping I could...
Just a second, let me...
Okay.
I know that ain't much of a bite, but I can put something underneath it to grab again.
See a log or anything.
Just stick under it?
Just anything where I can grab it again.
That old wheel, maybe.
There's an old Volkswagen wheel over here.
Got it on the...
Yeah.
Well.
It's crumpling up.
Not a good spot either, is it?
No, it needs to be right here where this is now.
I think I'm up underneath the control arm a little bit.
Yeah.
Which is about the best place as long as it'll stay.
It's got a decent half bite on it.
We want to try to put that board underneath there?
That which the...
I'll have to.
Yeah, all we got is a big old...
And it's long.
Unless you see something else laying around here.
I'll see what I can find.
Find something?
Yeah, only bad thing is I'm looking back here.
Once we get pulling, there's going to be another whole dropout, but maybe...
Maybe go up more?
If you can go up a little bit more, I'm going to try to get this piece of plywood under it.
Yeah.
Bet that breaks.
Have to move that tire.
So let me...
This thing was literally sitting in the ground, not even on the ground, in the ground.
I wish I knew I could turn them wheels straight while it's...
Let me try real quick.
But they kind of do need to be turned amidst that pile.
I guess I'll just leave it like it is.
That's what I was afraid of, but at least it'll...
Yeah.
Do better in the hole.
Try it again?
Yeah.
The stick went right in my mouth.
I wish I knew shooting air might help it a little bit.
Want to try it?
They go down so fast.
Right.
Oh, this side...
This side stayed aired up too, huh?
Yeah, both of those ones stayed aired up.
I don't know what...
What gave.
Well, that one wasn't all the way up against the bumper back there, so it probably slipped, yeah.
I thought maybe it would have pulled that out at the beginning, but it probably didn't.
I'm going to get up here while I'm out of the way.
Yeah, don't get in the way of the cable or the chain.
Here we go.
Still just pulling me.
Might have to chain my truck to something.
Now, ain't it?
Yeah.
Good thing is it's pulling the boards with it, so it's kind of like a sled.
Just a second, Lance.
Lance, let me see if I can turn that wheel.
They're turning real sharp now, so...
They rotated around a little bit.
We've gone three or four feet.
I'm sure a bunch of this stuff is going to start piling up behind the wheel too, making it harder.
Did you say you wanted these boots?
These what?
These boots that are in here.
I see those things.
Turning any?
I think it will if it's moving, but...
All right, I'll try to pull it some.
Okay.
Boy, that thing is a heavy car.
Some of the chrome may be worth more than the car is.
Let me check on this winch.
It sounds like it's...
Want to make sure I don't have all the cable binding up on it.
Looks all right.
I think we're going to miss this.
Uh-oh.
I don't feel a good space to stand out of the way.
Our boards are about to... which I guess...
Yeah, just on that one, because this one's still where it was at.
Yeah, I need to try to pull this over some.
Let me let this out.
Move this where I can pull from the side, I guess.
Just so you know, that's the tire.
Huh?
Just so you know, that's the tire.
What?
The noise it was making.
Gotcha.
10-4.
That's probably too far, honestly.
That should work, though.
Got her on there.
Let's get it aired up and pulled out a little bit where we can check it out a little better.
Just rusty on that one.
Oh, the hinge is actually bent over.
I was hoping I could get it open enough to look at the motor a little better, though.
See how it's done bent in half?
Yeah, uh-huh.
Unfolded itself back up in there.
You can go ahead and help me try to push it open.
That's good.
I don't think that thing's ever going to run.
I was going to grab that.
Got it?
Got it.
I don't know why I'm even trying.
Everything out here has been locked up.
Yeah.
I don't even know where the dipstick would be on that thing.
You know, we always talked about buying one and seeing if we could get it running.
A year later, I think this would be a perfect candidate for it.
It doesn't have to be a perfect candidate just to bury some of the lathes.
Yeah.
Somebody else has already done that one, though.
The old valve covers the rest of that over here.
There's the old thing.
I'm just curious if it has any in it.
You can grab it.
Yep.
Yeah.
Not clear, clear, but it's some in it.
Some in it.
Let me check this piece.
It looks to be complete, though.
It's on the full mark.
No clue why it would have been parked.
Let's have that hood shot.
Rusted out there.
Pretty much every sheet metal spot.
Over here, fenders.
Inside here, there's them old cowboy boots we were talking about.
Yeah, when the dash is rusted out, it's rusted.
Yeah.
Old dash is rusted out on it.
Back here, there's a bunch of other engine parts rusted out all along the rockers.
I don't even know how that tire is even holding air.
Crazy.
Trunk.
Look at this.
Like I said, you can get down here in that little spot you see all the way up there.
It's the front dash.
Ain't nothing in there, huh?
Well.
I'm not going to say.
Yeah.
I'm going to open it and then it'll never shut.
Leave them with some of their property, I guess.
Yeah.
I'm going to put some of this chrome back in there.
Well.
At least we got it out.
Yeah.
I can go ahead and get some straps put on it and head back to the house.
Alrighty.
Make a decision what to do with it from there.
Well, if we just leave the straps kind of loose, that'll make the decision for us.
Yeah.
Well, guys, today we were able to pick up this old Pontiac Catalina.
Now, most of the time I would be ending this video saying, well, we were able to rescue this old girl.
On this case, I would definitely say we're a few years too late with her.
As we were beginning to uncover and pull off all the leaves and vines that had been over and over years,
we noticed a lot of this old sheet metal is just rusted beyond repair.
Now, this is a four-door car, so it's not going to be near as desirable for a collector anyways.
Up underneath the hood, it looks like the motor's locked up solid,
and it'd take a ton of work to get this thing up and running.
Now, we've always talked about it being cool to bury an old project car,
dig it up a year later and see if it'll run.
I don't even know if there would be anything left of this car if you were to do so.
But if you guys would like to see us do that, be sure to comment in the comments below
just to let us know how you feel about it.
If not, we'll try to figure out a game plan on this.
Don't forget to subscribe, ring that bell, and we'll see you on the next one.
