In June of 2020 we bought a house that had a pool hidden underneath a deck for over 20 years.
The following summer and one year ago today we began the renovation of our in-ground pool.
The first step was removing the deck on top of it so we could see the state of the pool underneath.
If the structure of the pool was too badly decayed it wouldn't be worth saving and we
didn't know if that was going to be the case until we removed all of the water and debris
from over 20 years. Thankfully there was only some minor surface rust which we treated and
then got down to removing the concrete around the pool. We dug trenching to replace all of
the pool lines and equipment around the pool including the skimmer and the jets and then
got ready for brand new concrete. In just over a month later we installed a brand new liner
with the help of two friends, filled it up and we were swimming that very same night.
Since the completion of the pool we've also restored the upper deck to its former glory days.
We started on some landscaping around the pool and by popular demand we're taking down the siding
around our pool to make it into a really fun outdoor kitchen and bar area. Our backyard still
has a long way to go but let us know were you following us last year when we restored our in-ground pool?
