Asian Tribes Try SOUR American Candy!! Which One Did They Hate?!

Let's see what they think Welcome to the second channel in this video You're gonna see local Thai villagers and tribes try out American candy for the first time Today we are north of Chiang Mai very near the Myanmar border visiting the Karen people among the Karen people There are many different sub-tribes in this video We're going to be visiting to the people you see in this village and the Karen people that are famous for their extremely long Next last time we did this we were in Africa and we introduced American candy to tribes in Zimbabwe and Tanzania Including Africa's last hunter-gatherer tribe. The results were amazing The people were either genuinely impressed or some foods they hated like the Twizzlers They were not a fan of it at all. So I think we should start with the Twizzlers today How do people feel about the Twizzlers here in northern Thailand? Let's find out everybody. This is PT. Hi PT She grew up in this beautiful village here. And then now she is a tour guide She's gonna be our first person to try it out in Thailand's northernmost region the Karen people number about 1 million Have you ever heard of Twizzlers in the countryside many live now as they have generations past Dining on delicious pork or chicken and sticky rice all the way to eating giant crickets and tarantulas with this kind of culinary range I want to see how they react to some classic American candy. My only concern is that people here are so nice I'm worried that they would be afraid to tell me something was awful if they didn't like it now She did say it's a little bit too sweet fruit is still considered dessert in this part of Asia and the USA fruit is like Health food. It's like I'm eating healthy now whole watermelon two apples 15 oranges Usually American desserts are far too sweet for people here. It seemed like it was a little too sweet for her Let's try one more just a quick break from the candy. Look at this pig. Yeah back to the candy air heads Cherry, it's got a little bit of artificial flavor. Can you believe it? Not real cherries? It's gonna be sweet full of fruity flavor and here we have sang. We're heading to a different part of northern, Thailand This is another sub tribe of the Karen people commonly referred to as the Big Ear tribe named after their impressively large ear gauges Sported by the tribes women most of the people in this tribe haven't traveled more than a walking distance away So what will they think of my big bag of sweet treats? Thank you Our next candy right here the KitKat crisp wafers in milk chocolate one of my absolute favorites ma'am here I present to you a KitKat She's taking a taste a confident bite. No little nibbles She says it's chocolate. So she knows what a chocolate is overall. Does she like it? Would she eat it again? She says it's a little too sweet. She says I think that's enough for me. That's enough Okay, we finally found the candy that someone doesn't like very much Actually, I feel better knowing everyone isn't just being nice to be nice This can be super sweet to some people and for her one bite is enough our next candy skittles again Except for this time. These are sour. It is all the same flavors inside, but it's gonna be sour Let's see what they think trying it out. Oh, she wants to spit it out. She had an extreme reaction I think the sourness surprised her but in the end like many people they enjoy that kind of punishment with the pleasure Thank you Among the Karen sub-tribes are the long-neck people striking and distinct Women here carry on a tradition that goes back generations adorned with a brass neck coil from a very young age Their relative isolation in this region means they've not been exposed to many cultures outside northern Thailand That is until today. Can you tell what fruit that is? She says it tastes a little bit like great but they're more sour bingo, that's right Okay, try the red one. It's like the most responsible snack eater ever just one at a time This one's a lot sweeter and it's not as sour as the last one. What fruit do you think that tastes like? She says it tastes like a cherry. Let's double-check actually. Oh, it says on the packaging. It's supposed to be strawberry Does it taste a little like strawberry? A little bit like strawberry So we have our next candy right here these days Hershey's is making a new different kind of candy bar every two seconds This is the choco tube cookies and cream flavor. Hello swatika So here in this village and among all the long-neck people Children at the age of 4 or 5 get the rings around their neck and it continues every couple years all the way through adulthood.
