Improve Internet Speed in Windows 10 with QoS
Hello ladies and gentlemen, today I'm going to show you how to increase your internet speed.
Now I have pretty good internet and this means that if you have slower internet,
this tip will probably help you more than it will help me because I already have a fast internet
connection. Now let's go ahead and explain to you what's going on here. Let's go and close this up.
Okay so I'm going to go ahead and open up Paint and really quickly explain what I'm doing so I
can actually, so you can understand what you're about to do. Now this is your computer and you
have a lot of incoming and outgoing internet connection requests coming into your computer.
This, for example, could be YouTube. Sorry for my stupid drawings. This could be, for example,
a video game that you're playing and when you're playing video games, it's probably more important
for you to dedicate your bandwidth to go to your video game in order for you to get good latency,
good reaction time, and basically a better communication. So if somebody's sitting on
your network, if this is your router for example, if somebody's sitting on your network and using,
for example, YouTube, I think it's in your best interest to allocate the bandwidth to go to your
game. Now we're going to go ahead and do that. Now I want you to remember your router has this
setting. It's called quality of service. This quality of service thing basically prioritizes
different services on your network and gives them the appropriate bandwidth. For example,
if it sees a streaming video coming in, it's going to probably prioritize this over a download
that's going on because that's not that important. You want your videos to look quicker. You can also
do this on a Windows level and I'm going to show you how to do it real quick. It's called quality
of service. Now go to your search bar and type group policy. Group policy. I already have it
over here. It's called edit group policy. Click on here and go ahead and expand this and you're
going to see administrative templates. Click on that. In the administrative templates, you're
going to click on network. You're going to double click on it. Let's go ahead and maximize it so you
can see it a little bit better and you're going to see what's called the quality of service packet
scheduler. Click on that. Now the second option from the top will be called limit reservable
bandwidth. What you want to do if you have a slow internet connection and if you feel like your
computer is not prioritizing things well, you can probably help your streaming or your games
run a little bit better especially on a slow internet connection. Click on edit.
After you click on edit, click on enabled. Change this to 100 and press either apply or okay
and that's it. Remember, in order to have this option, you have to have Windows Pro. It's not
going to work on computers that have Windows Home or Student. You do have to have a Windows Pro
license in order for you to have this stuff. I hope this helps guys. I do not like to waste
your time and hopefully this explanation helps. If you have any other questions, check out my
other videos on the channel and feel free to ask your questions or video requests and I'll be more
than happy to fulfill them for you. Thanks so much and I'll see you in the next video.
