Hey guys, today we are going to be doing what we call a power pick. Yes. What's that mean? We've only got 30 minutes and one good will to swoop in and find all the cool treasures. Okay, so that was not 30 minutes. Two best friends with two very different styles. Laura wants to save treasures from the landfills and Selena wants all the fancy stuff on the cheap. We want to inspire you to find your own unique style through secondhand finds. Join us as we hunt yard sales, auctions, and junk stores for unbelievable vintage finds. The only rule we have is to have fun on The Recycled Life. That is cool. Okay, so we've only got 30 minutes. We're not quite sure what our strategy is yet. I feel like we've got to figure this out. Time's already ticking. Let's go to the small. Okay, go. Yeah, we don't have time to dilly-dally. We've only got 30 minutes. Now we have 29 minutes. Oh no, that was a fast minute. Alright, I'm going to hit pottery. What do you want to hit? You want to hit pottery with me? I don't like pottery. Okay, you want to hit brass? But I'll follow you. What about that? That's totally 60s. That is really cute. It's an ashtray though, but it's really cute. I like them for jewelry, don't you? Yeah, and I like them for my sage. I burn incense and sage and so a lot of times I'll put those in there. You know what? I have to get it because I've never seen one like it and the colors are rad. And the shape is really rad. Yeah, wow. Whoa, look at the shape on it. Yeah, that's very different. Selena, that's really pretty. Yeah, with pansies. It's hand signed. It's signed on the bottom. Whoa. Oh my gosh. Wow. You have to get that. That's really pretty. Wow. Oh my gosh, can I just tell you right now, you match this whole look. You look like Easter. All of it. Oh. You guys, look how pretty that is. Remember the first video when you were here and your junk matched your outfit? Yeah. Remember? That's me. Hey, today let's cut away a little side clip of Laura and me. Selena always makes fun of me because everything I get matches, but I think it means that I have my style defined. So my pillow apparently matches my coat. Does it match the hat too? You match your outfit. Your junk matches you, girl. That looks new. Yeah, it's too new. Okay, well it was worth peeking at just in case. That would have been a mid-century piece. Look at this over here. Oh. This is so pretty. Yeah, that's cool. Wow. How much is it? $29.99. Is there a half-off color? It's blue, so it's not half-off. Oh my gosh, this is so cool. What if we open it and we found the real treasure? Nope, it's empty. That's a really neat piece, huh? Yeah. If I was still doing flea markets right now, I would buy this in a second. Because I think you could flip that for $100, $150 easy. But we don't have a vintage mall space or a flea market, and we can't ship this online. So we gotta walk away, huh? Yeah. Time to walk away. Time's ticking. Power pick. Oh, this is so packed, you guys. This is gonna be good. We're coming back. Okay, well. Oh no, I can't. Sorry, I gotta look at these. We were supposed to go to those, but look at these little handmade pieces. Are you kidding me? Oh, somebody scribbled on the inside. I think that's the artistic design. Oh, what's this? It's pretty. Is that a candle holder? Dang, this is kind of cool. That's really neat. That's a candle holder. Did it originally hold something or just candles? Oh, I bet it had little things that held the candles. I don't know if a candle would fit in there, but it's very cool. Well, there's candles in the other aisle. We can always check. What about this? That's a pretty silver-plated piece. Oh yeah, it's missing. This is one of those things where you put the warmer down below, and then whatever dish you're serving would rest up here to keep it warm. If those almost look like ladies, like if that would have been like ladies, wouldn't that be cute? But it's not. Oh, a little frog guy. Amphibians. He's a little Japanese pottery piece. Amphibians. You're cutting me off. Sorry. Wait, that's you cutting me off. Nice try to spin on that one. Whoa, this is beautiful. That is pretty. Whoa, that's all hand-painted. Look, it matches. It matches again. Wow. You guys, I think we have a theme going for today. That's super neat. Oh no. Darn. That's why you've got to look these over. Wow, the shape sure is cool. Yeah, when you're buying for yourself, if you really love a piece, a chip or two is okay. But if you're reselling, you've got to really watch that. Darn, that's a real bummer. That's neat. Oh look, here's a little owl that matches that other one. The amphibian. Those are cute. Oh, there's salt and pepper shakers. An owl and an amphibian. Interesting pair. Kind of like us. I'm always looking for brass flatware. It's super hard to find. This is not brass, because it's super hard to find. You didn't like this guy? No. He normally has a cork that goes right in his little noggin. Ooh, but what is this? Another ashtray. Oh, it is a Batoosie. Shut up. Yeah. See the little Italy hand marks right there? This is Italian, 1960s. Apparently, I'm going to have all you smokers covered today. Oh. We did this the last time we came to this location, too. We started out with a little cart, and about one minute in, we already needed to go get the big cart, so let's go. All right, let's try this again. Look at this hunk. It reminds me of the guys on the cover of the romance novels. Oh, yeah, with half the chest showing. Like Fabio. Yeah. But look, he's got nice blushed cheeks. He's been working hard. Is that cherries, strawberries? What are those, apples? He will provide for you. A man that provides. A little baby otter. Aw, a mama and a baby. Okay, I'm confused. What is the moose doing? What's he doing? Does he sit on top of a boat? It's for a corner. Look, it's for the edge. He's just hanging out like this. But what if he falls? Oh, he won't fall. He's climbing. Oh, no. It's like a baby chip. This is the exact location, the exact store. I'm like, I found a Diptyque candle here. It's like a $60 candle I found for $1.99. It's really hard to smell through the mask, so that's kind of a problem. But if it's Diptyque, you just get it anyway. Okay, that's true. This little duck's kind of cute. If it was a little bit more modernist shape, I would definitely pick that up. I'll leave it for the right person to find. Hey, is this a jump rope? Or is this like, what is this? It's a back massager. Oh, my gosh. It's a back massager? Here. Yeah, so you do it yourself. Oh, baby. Oh, I feel like I'm doing like the Mamba. Dude, this is actually really comfortable. Okay, getting that. Put it in the pile. What about this one, too? This is kind of neat because it has a pedestal on it. No. Yeah. We're so supportive of each other. Gosh, look at this. Whoa, what is that? It's a back scratcher. Okay, we're going to hang out and you're going to scratch back, so I'm going to massage my back. This is really cool. You have to get that, Celine. I'm going to. You have to. And it's a shoehorn, so you can put your shoes on by yourself and scratch your back. Yep, we don't need boys anymore. Stop. What are you doing? Stop it. Craters. This is like a 1970s piece and it's got owls on it. And it's got a signature that I feel like I've seen before, but I don't know what it is. Can you tell what it says? Does that say Be Welsh? Looks like it says busky or something. We're going to give this one a quick Google. That's kind of cool, but I don't like the fake little jewels around it. I love all the religious relics and stuff, but that one just, it's not antique enough. You know, I like it old and crisp. I'm kind of crushing on this little coffee table here. And it's oak, girl. Oak is a really great hard firewood. Yeah, that's why they make wood floors out of it. Oh, are you making a burn it in the fire pit joke? You brat. I really like the shape and the design on it. If that would have been like a zebra wood or even like a walnut or rosewood, I'd be snagging that so fast. This would be cute if you spray painted it white, like for the Victorian porch or like, you know, like a shabby chic kind of look, I think would be really cute with a vintage cushion in it. Do it like an heirloom white and it's only $7.99. That'd look pretty with like blue cushions, like you were talking about for possibly your patio. Yeah, like French country. Yeah, yeah. Insert picture. Well, you had unicorns and dried roses on your walls. I didn't have this exact picture, but this is basically what was on my walls. Posters of big cats. I would so put this up in my room. Yeah, you would right now. Yeah, I probably would. If the resin hadn't yellowed, I probably would. I usually hit accessories first, honestly, but I got Laura with me today. So we went smalls first. Thank you. You're welcome. But I really like to look here. I love to look at all the little purses. I always find some really pretty vintage ones in here, like the little pearl bags and seed bead hand beaded bags. And then there are also really great scarves here. You can find some really great silk ones in here if you just kind of pilfer through and, of course, look for, oh, here's one right here. This is a nice silk scarf, and you can tell that this one is a good quality one because that's hand-rolled edges. See all that edging is rolled on the side and stitched rather than, let's get this one. Here's a good example. This is like a fake silky how it's serged on the sides like that rather than rolled. A furry baseball hat. Dude, on a 90-degree day like today, I can't even imagine wearing that thing. Those are cute with the little pearls on it. Hey, those are perfect for you. They're Target. Too big for me. They probably won't be very comfortable. Cute, though. You're walking like we got two hours here. I'm trying to find a summer kind of cardigan. I want to find a little sweater that's cotton and, like, white or off-white for summer months. You know, it's, like, chilly in the evenings. In the mornings and evenings. Yeah. Just want to pop it on. That one's acrylic. I might get sweaty in that one. I don't like the feeling of acrylic as much. Yeah, I just want a nice cotton one. Oh, my gosh, I just donated that. You did? Yeah. Are you serious? Yeah, I had this, like, in my stash forever. I just donated that. That's so funny when you find your old pieces. It's the cycle of vintage. It might have too many holes in it. I don't know. If it's for a hot day, maybe. It's part linen, though. You want to see what it looks like? Yeah, let's see what it looks like. It's kind of nice because if you're wearing a dress like you're wearing right now, it'll show through some of the color. Yeah. Let a nice breeze through. I feel like it's a little big on your shoulders. Like, it's not fitted enough. Yeah, I don't like how it goes. It doesn't. You know what I mean? I don't like things that have little pouches up front. You don't like pockets? Who doesn't like pockets? These are little useless pockets. Oh, no, those fit chapsticks perfectly. Are you, like, anti-pockets? You know what ones I really hate are, like, the little... The ones on the boobs? Yeah. Okay, I don't like those. You hate those. Look at me, power pick. Look it, power pick, power pick. Come on, girl. Find that top. Oh, that's wool. Oh, what's this one? No. Oh, it has pouch pockets. I'm all, no. Maybe it's because I wore that same thing, like, 15 years ago. Sorry. I'm not ready for it to come back around quite yet. We're, like, vintage now. I know. People say that when they hear us call, like, the 1980s vintage. But the truth is, we're from the 1980s. We're vintage. I'm cool with that. Oh, look at this free people top. That's pretty. That's kind of cool. Look at that detail. Almost looks like your old net lace. Yeah, it does. I wonder if that was, like, their inspiration for it. Oh, here's a shirt for Laura. No, what is it? Is it a sea otter? No. A tiger? Hogwarts! If it was a Gryffindor, maybe. She doesn't even know what Gryffindor is, I bet. I don't know what that is, though. But you knew what Hogwarts was? Yeah, that's all I know. Oh my gosh, I donated this, too. What? That one's pretty. I want it. If you guys like my style, you should come to this Goodwill, because there's going to be a lot of clothes here that I just donated. That one's super cute. Why'd you donate it? I just wasn't wearing it. I should have given it to you. Yeah. Now I have to buy it if I want it. What is that? It's only $6.99. It could have been free. Look, they have more free people, but I don't wear brown. Yeah. It's cute, though. Yeah, it's cute. Put the free people out. We should start a little free people section for them. Yeah. I feel like this might be actually really cute on. I like the bigger sleeves, and I'm really into blue and white right now. I love that preppy East Coast vibe. I have a pair of Palazzo pants that match that. Really? Yeah, I do. $6.99. Tommy Hilfiger. Do it. I'm going to do this. Do it. It's easy. Get it, girl. I like these kind of tops because they're very comfortable, like a t-shirt, but they look dressier, like a little more effort, even though it's totally comfortable. Yeah. Wear that with some button-up jeans, Levi's. Yeah. My white ones with the high... That would be so preppy and cute. I love vintage clothing because of the labels. It's not always the design that gets you. Sometimes it's the name brand. What's it say? Isn't it snazzy? Oh, that is snazzy. That seems like one that you would say because you always go, oh, cool beans. Cool beans. I say sweet pickles. Sweet pickles. That's snazzy. I'm such a big fan of looking for things off-season, and I'm hoping that this fall and winter I can find more corduroy pieces. I just found these in the coat section, so I'm going to try these on. This one is just a little bit too small. The best part about cloaks is they always fit, and you get to act like a wizard. You get to be... They always fit. They also don't always look good. This is a little too much. I'm trying to find corduroy for this fall. That looks like something you'd wear to a football game and be nice and warm in the bleachers. I don't go to football games. Today we're all about the labels. Look at this one. This one's not vintage, but crazy. You've got to pick up the pace, Laura. We've got seven minutes left. I can't flip through these as quick as you. My husband and I are planning to do an annual tiki, like mid-century tiki party every year. And I feel like this top, if you kind of tied it up, it would actually be really cute. And then Selena was saying she doesn't like the top, but she likes the skirt. So we could swap. You have the skirt, I got the top. Why am I not selling at flea markets anymore? I would have snagged this one in a heartbeat, too. I think that would be so cute with a vintage pair of Levi's and a white t-shirt underneath it and a bunch of turquoise just layered up and down your arms. All right, we've got to hurry. I've got two minutes. I feel like supermarket sweep. We've got to do the final swoop through, find all the things we missed. This is for your deviled eggs. We call them egg boats in our family. Egg boats? That's cute. I've never heard that before. We've got a brand new cart that just came out. This is fresh loot, you guys. Safely sanitized and ready for pickings. Hey, here's a little owl. Cute. What's this pink thing? That's cute. We're like vultures right now. They bring out a cart and we're like vultures. Whoa. I love these baskets, too. They look so cute with a little fresh fruit in it. What is with the hands? Oh, my gosh. We should have done that for our timer. Oh, yeah. Like when we walked in. Wouldn't that have been funny? Aw. It's a little grilled tea set. I used to have one of these. Didn't have anyone to play with. I just had my Barbies and a dog to talk to. Aw. That's okay. That's okay. Selena and I both love comfy shoes, and Clark's makes really, really comfortable ones. I don't love the design on this one, but I did just get these at Goodwill last week, and they are a pair of Clark's, and they were only $7.99. Okay, these are coming home. I think those are really cute, like springtime napkins, and they would look cute with those placemats that you just gave me. Yeah. Oh, yes, they would. These tricked me. Versace? I was like, oh, yeah, Versace. And then I checked the tag, and it was somebody else. Oh. Avivo Extreme. They kind of look like they could be real, though. I would have worn them, but this part kind of threw me. I was like, eh. Selena, there's new shoes coming out. These are Madewells. That's a good brand. Those are cute. Too small for us, though. These are cool. Here's some clogs. Those are cool. Get some western wear on. And post. What about purple boots? These are like signed. What are those? $6.99. Oh, that's a very good brand. Yeah, they look really well built. I've got to try these on. $300. All right, then I'm going to get them. Those are going on eBay. Do they fit? I don't know. Kind of tight. You could get one of those leather stretchers, like a boot stretcher. I know they're supposed to fit kind of tight, because you don't want them to rub on your heel. Yeah. They're really cute. I know. They're super cool. How much are they? It's only $6.99. Do it, girl. $6.99. My mom told me that you're supposed to wear them when it's damp out, because then the leather bends to your foot. Damp hose boots, the most comfortable boots. Unbelievable fit and finish. Sounds like a deal. Let's see what they're worth. Got a nice website. They're probably pretty decent. Shop women's. We are doing a two-week road trip, and we're going to be doing lots of hiking and kayaking, and I feel like I'm going to need these kind of dry fit tops, because I'm going to get wet, and I'm going to be sweating like crazy, because it's going to be super hot. I'm going to pick up a few of these. This pink one is $4.99, and it's half off, because it's blue. That's only $2.50. I can't pass it up just because it's pink. Look what Selena found for me. This is going to be perfect for my road trip, because I'm going to be kayaking, and I feel like you just want to strip everything off and go down to a swimsuit for that. Then, I am making out like a bandit. Look at all of the colors. I'm going to be like a rainbow. Are you excited, Selena? You always say I need to wear more color. That's a good price, huh? Yes. They're brown. Did you see that? I told you you were going to get something brown. I'm really excited about this, the brass pot, and then the Betosy ashtray. Those are definitely the wins of today. Then, the swimsuit's pretty cute, too. Thank you. Okay, so that was not 30 minutes. We tried to do a power pick, but you know. Yeah, that doesn't always happen. Sometimes, you've got to just find all the treasures and roll with it. Oh, my gosh. This one was loaded. It's really exciting to be able to pick and know that it's safe because they're sanitizing all of the carts, the registers, even the donations that go out are back in quarantine that they sanitize, too. Yep. They're holding everything back. They're making sure everything gets safe and clean before it hits the floor. It turns out that this owl pottery was by Bennett Welsh. Here's the signature here on the bottom, and you can see it says B. Welsh with a little fish and a number two, and this is a local Pacific Northwest artist, and he made one of my favorite pieces of pottery that I have here in my kitchen.
