So today we're gonna meet Jared. He has a really cool
way of saving space in the van, still having a large bed.
So I hope you like the video and if you're interested in more
videos like this, subscribe. And I'm also launching my van build course
and with an electrical course inside the course.
So if you're interested in that, check the link underneath.
All right, I'll give you guys a bit of a bit of a squeeze through the van.
It's a Transport VW, I think it's a 2014 model. I opted for the four-wheel drive
option because I'm a lot in the in the mountains and the snow and that, so that
was a good thing. And you can see it's got the
high roof. I built my own van because I wanted to
ascertain more freedom in my daily life, instead of for...
As you can see, this is the entrance
and you have like a little storage in there for small things and
that, like a water can there and a bit of a torch and things.
Here we've got like a pop-up table, so the kitchen's quite small, so it gives
you opportunity to cut things here and have that area over there.
And when you're driving and that and you don't want it, you can just, you can fold
it down and it's out of the way. In here with the brown door,
we've managed to put all the electrical system in there
and that sort of hides away and it is out of the way and if you want to access
it, you can just open up and get in there to fix
different things, fuses and stuff like that. Here we have like a
sitting place for two people and a single place
over there with the kitchen. In here, I've got like a,
open this up, so it gives you opportunity to put
all the boards, snowboards, surfboards and they come, it comes right under the
under the seat here and you don't even notice that they're under there.
So quite a good way to get the boards in without losing too much place.
Here we've got the table, it just pulls out. It seems to be
a good solution. Here we've got like the garage, I guess you could call it
and you can access the back. I've got a bit of stuff in there at the moment but
you can do easy access to get in the back and get things out and stuff like
that. Here we have the kitchen, the sink in
here with an extra board on the top that gives you the opportunity to get a
bit more space there once that goes on the top.
The water, you can pull it in and out so you can wash things off and stuff like
that. Here we've got the cooktop, gas cooktop.
We have some drawers and that for storage for food and cutlery and stuff
like that. In here we have the, what do we call that again? Here we have
the fridge and that just goes off the off the 12
volts and keeps things nice and cold and you have like a little
freezer in there as well. Here we have the bed, day modus and a night
modus. Now it's in the day modus, can use all this area here and then you
can pull the whole bed all the way to the out here and then you
get like a 190 centimetre double bed. So in the night time it
just turns into all bed and you have this little area here
to get in and get out. You can make a coffee stew when you when you stand up
even when it's in the in the in the night modus. It works really well
because you get optimise more space in the van and
yeah I like it. Here we have some netting for extra storage, it was a
really easy solution. Instead of putting up
big cupboards and stuff like that, put in the two night lights up here.
So in the night time you can just read a book or do what you have to do when you
go to bed, that works really well. We've got the fan,
the fantastic fan, it works quite well on the rainy days when it gets really moist
and stuff like that. You put that on and it doesn't fog up at
all, so the fan works really well. Here we've got like a little storage
area, you can put like your kettle and bits and pieces and then in
in this door here, open up and I haven't quite finished it yet but it's
getting around to it. Here I've got like a little drying thing to dry all my
gloves when I'm snowboarding or if you whatever you need to dry you can
put it up there. So like I said before like this is the day mode now
and you have to optimise all the space in the day mode
and then in the in the night mode you just pull it out
to the end and then the mattress here and now like you have a 190 centimetre
bed there. So it's really good for for two people, you probably could squeeze
three in. It's a really good, really good space.
We just got some some mattresses from the local
bedding place and cut them to size and then put a sheet on.
I was thinking about cutting it in two but we just kept them as one and you
just fold them over in the day and it seems to work really well. Through
enrolling, through the course, it was everything. I have no experience
as a builder or as a handyman,
so I was sort of like a little bit anxious in the beginning and I didn't
really know where to start and through the course
that you have online and deliver it gave me the
the possibility to do such a thing. So without the course
I wouldn't know where to start. So here is the
I call it the garage. I haven't quite finished it yet but
getting around to it but you can see the concept of it. Here I've got like
places here for all the all the ski boots and snowboard boots.
Down here we've got like the the Chinese
diesel heater that works fantastically in the in the winter time.
I think the coldest we've had is about minus 15 out and
hasn't been a problem and it's been 20 degrees inside so it works really well.
It's efficient. I've got like the water tank here,
optimised space to put all your bags in, your boards in.
And then you have this long storage for? This is for all my
snowboards and I can fit about four boards in with like
a couple of pair of skis on the top of it. So
that works really well. So I hope you liked Gerrit's van.
If you're interested in building a van like this I'm launching
an online course soon, a van build course with
an electrical course inside the course. So if that's something that sounds
interesting put your name on the early bird wait
list and check out my free six video series.
So I'll see you inside.
