All right who's ready for this hey? I'm going to take you in and
well give you the big reveal mate of the new shouse.
Anyway it's big news it's big news come in the miso is cooking me a coffee.
In we go through the front doors let's spin around for the first time have a
look dear. Welcome to the new abode what do you
reckon?
All right come in here it's only day two and the kids can't help themselves so
we're going to let them go nuts hey? What do you reckon?
Yeah go for go for it kid.
Phase one hey you've got to destruct the old stuff
but there's no insulation behind it so
from what I can gather we're going to put
we're going to put some pink bats or something in behind there
um do some proper insulation so it'll actually be nice and cool through this
summer so it does get pretty hot up here so we're
going to do it properly.
Stage two mate or stage three or stage four I don't even know
we've been working flat out for two and a half days
and we have gained so much work now we're going to extend this dam had
this stupid little pond with a pipe through it into the big
section and it just this was just gross so we're just going
to dig it out and make it one big dam. There is a pipe in there we're going to
try and get out maybe reuse somewhere else but
it'd be super nice down here kind of be like a jelly bean shaped
resort dam what do you reckon about that and spoon drain look at this
oh yes I reckon we'll get get some grass seeds soon and I'll seed
all this and then get the pump going we'll water
it for the next week or so just so if we do get some rain it doesn't
wash all the dirt away but anyways it's coming together two tiny
little machines just absolutely drilling this block I
think it helps the dirt like there's not much rock in it
it seems really hard but it's digging super soft
so it's really it's good for his earth moving here
yeah anyway there you go I've never seen a resort style dam before but
first time for everything
what's this? It's a new boxy. Doesn't look like a caravan does it?
I um you know what I thought a box trailer would be so readily
accessible and we'd just buy one second hand
well blow me down there's none anywhere and the ones that they do like the ones
on for second hand are like a couple hundred bucks off full price
anyway I went and seen a trailer shop and there you go
got a trailer you don't get much for your money hey like
it's a brand new trailer and they're a couple of grand and it's really um
I'm not real happy with it but it's all you can get and we're going to need one
while we're here just forgetting all this stuff
building equipment running around picking up trees and sticks and then
to hire one here it's a hundred bucks a day so I'd soon rack up a bill
with needing a trailer anyway ladder insulation citronella oil got a
whipper snipper what else a few other things it's been an
expensive day but we can't do any of this without it
so let's get into it wow it's noisy out
there all right this is stage one of our concrete floor covering
uh we've decided to do epoxy flooring first step is to
thoroughly clean this concrete it's all moldy out there
so the kids are on the gurney and the blower
inside should be all right we'll have to gurney it all get it nice and clean then
we'll have to acid wash it then we'll have to let it dry then we
can paint it anyway it's a bit of a process but it's
probably our cheapest and most viable option for a good floor in this
little shack
pretty satisfying isn't it it feels weird on your hands like fuzzy
all right we've only got one two three big sprays to go that's all you
don't watch this already i'll write my name in it
all right hey before um we get this epoxy underway this week i'm going to
give the whole shed a good blast so sugar soap in the little um gurney and
then i'm going to gurney the whole lot down the roof the walls the floors
get it prepped to do an acid wash for um epoxy floors we'll show you more of
that when we get the paint but you kind of want to you've got to
get it all clean first so we thought we might as well just do
the whole thing we've emptied everything out today
stripped all the old insulation off and uh we're
we're just cleaning and um it makes it even feel like a bigger job when it's
wet be like this but we'll get there we'll get there
we're going to use an epoxy um which seems to be the best thing to do
it's going to be hard wearing durable pretty easy to put down and cost
effective so what we did we went to bunnings and
grabbed um whatever their off the shelf kits are
these ones now um they're 225 bucks each so we've
had to buy two to go in here and another one for
the outside so it's still going to still like
what's that seven hundred and something dollars just for paint
then we had to get buckets rollers brushes dinners that sort of stuff
and then we're going to roll out a meter at a time with a roller and becky's
going to follow along and be the flake master this could be
disastrous mate who cares it's just a shed
i know that's what i reckon i'm like whatever if we bugger it
so what sit there while i tell you just how beautiful you look tonight
as if you haven't heard me say it about a hundred times
you shake your head and look away i promise that i've tried my hardest to
let go of this but every time i think about a fall without you
my life become had an epic file mate i have no idea what the hell went wrong
but about i don't know two minutes after putting it down
look at what's happened what is that the whole floor has freaking bubbles on
it that brings me around to my hot tip for
this episode don't get justin and beck to epoxy your
shed floors um yeah
we're not that great at it
hey go on there
so after some mad googling we figured out that you can just go over with a
roller so we're doing that and the bubbles are
coming out thankfully
oh my god anyway she's done it will be good after all
it's just a shed floor what's happened oh dear
the bloody pole snapped and i can't stop or it'll all go off
now i gotta finish it off on my knees far out
got a weed whacker end on it a couple hours mate
all harnessed up like a transformer set of air pods
what are you listening to a bit of jackpot's radio
yeah you look like a transformer called optimus
all right do any kids out there know optimus
i used to watch it
so you reckon rooster yeah yeah we're gonna get this dirty old dog
out of here have a look at that it's a big one all right
you reckon that's gonna hold no that's coming through nicely
got it out never a doubt mate they've only got one battery in it
come find the other battery it's in the drill
he's telling me how he knows how to use it there's no batteries in it
take two rooey yep just wait see if it's gonna work
morning it's day three with the digger here
i'm probably getting a bit carried away but while he's here i just got him to
dig some trenches so i don't have to do it
check it what we're gonna do
it's gonna be pretty cool it's like a little bit
pimp my yard style right but i'm gonna run some power down to some floodies
have some like outdoor flood lights in these trees facing up and down
down the driveway and then while we're at it we had to come up
past the old power and water line so i'm putting a t-piece in
the pump line and then i can run another big hose or another big pipe up
to this tree then we'll not only have a tap up here
we can also pump water if we ever want to get a bit of black
plastic and slide into the dam you can pump water up here
just by switching the pump on and a tap on up here
so yeah there we go can you imagine if you had to dig that
trench with a shovel oh that that's the old days yeah that
would be awful literally bobby did it in his digger in
about 45 minutes he did like 80 meters of trench he's a
gun anyways moment of truth for the pump set
up here it is the pipe was already in the
ground i'm gonna run it off of jenny got the
pick up in the dam i just don't know where that goes i'm
just guessing that it goes to the shed but we'll see how we go hopefully all my
joins don't leak water everywhere all right
let's get into it it's alive hey all right last job on the list is
to clear a track up through the back of the bush we've got
100 meters of bush behind us we want to try and find a house pad up
here so we've got the posi track in here drill on a
little track out it's real pretty in here right a lot of
like natural plants like our natives and a little creek that runs down here
when it's raining lots of bush rock and that so i'll get
up ahead and mark out a trail for bobby mate
this man deserves a beer hey if ever a man deserved a beer mate it's
you right now how good hey you would think a machine
with 100 hours on it was going through the bush just
nice that's like less than an hour's work we've pushed like probably 400
meters of track i'm stoked hey that's so cool it's
epic deserve that there's a few scratches on
it now
all right who's ready to come and see the shouse 10 weeks mate
solid and we're nearly there we're nearly there come inside
i'll get back to give you a tour around the joint look at this oh she's cooking
up a coffee how are we i'm good oh this actually looks amazing
through the camera oh really it is amazing what are you
talking about i know well there you go give everyone a tour dude this is our
lovely oh my god how cute is it this is our 10 week build
this is crazy yes it is insane actually we literally like
built a house essentially like we had the bare bones of the shed here
and then we've done this inside so super happy with how it came up and we did
everything really budget conscious but it did blow out
because yeah that is another story that is anyway whatever it
costs what it costs these days you have to spend the money you can't do it
really on the cheap because nothing is cheap anymore no anyway where do you
want to start because let's do this i've um what i will do well i've
probably already thrown it in but i've like throw
a bit of old footage you know what it looked like around the joint while we
did all this and how bloody different it looks but um
i don't know we really like it i love it like
absolutely love it it's still like tiny but
yeah it's a whole lot bigger than what a caravan is so
it's um it's very very comfortable for us it's very cute
anyway let's start bec you do it i'll follow you around
you start in the bedroom end and we'll walk this way to that way okay
so we put in these amazing barn style doors
um we ended up getting the timber tops from bunnings
and then we just bought the the barn barn door kit
i know a lot of people are going to ask me that so that's why i've said it but
come on in this is justin and my room um just put in a queen size bed
we're yet to kind of basically deal with that
needs to come out but we can't find a window that fits so we gotta we gotta
try and do that anyway bec's little wardrobe
yeah set of drawers and away we go kids room
kids still a work in progress isn't it we uh haven't quite got to paint in this
room yet but we will get there but what we went with is just two um
double bunks basically so we've got four four beds it's perfect
it's good there you go a couple of sets of drawers in there
room for the kids and swing around and show them the lovely
kitchen dining lounge living everything else this is so
weird for us because normally we like literally have this space in our caravan
so to have all this space to like spread out in the kitchen is amazing
but this is a flat pack kitchen would you believe it you know how over
flat packs i am yes just we'll never do another one but
oh my god and this oven was already left here so we just painted it up same with
this fridge actually we ended up just painting them
so kind of like upcycled and we've got our lovely dining area here i mean our
lounge area here and this does the island doubles as our food prep
and our kitchen table we've got some kitchen stools here so this is yeah like
basically our dining table as well and then we just got like a three-seater
sofa because that was basically all we could fit in here but it kicks out your
bed yes sofa so any friends and family want
to come and stay we've got a sofa and yeah it's just nice and cozy little
space here i love it i love being able to all four of us can
four people can fit on the couch everyone on the big bag it's really
it's really cozy let's talk doors don't leave without the doors
oh my god the amazing door so imagine this
initially well they were roller doors which the roller doors are behind this
bulkhead here which is pretty cool so when we go away
we can pull them down and keep it nice and secure in here but these amazing
big stackers were really important because living in
queensland it gets quite warm so it'd be nice to
have these nice and open in the summertime and let the breeze come
through and there's three screens there as well so you keep them
midget proof out and then this one should just change it
up just an entry door two windows with screens
um yeah it's just good what an aspect looking out there i know it is really
beautiful and you wait for later we'll show the footage and the sun goes
down right here and literally our kitchen glows
it is absolutely stunning and all the kangaroos are down there so it's really
nice just sitting in here and taking in that
it is i'll quickly give you a rundown what we did out here
literally just put insulation in that awning
uh then put battens in it and um put ply on the roof and put some down lights in
it on a dimmer so it just tidies it up and from the
inside it looks wicked there's the roller doors actually you can still see
them there uh yeah but that's just ply and i've
just got to go through and um put like a clear coat of varnish on that
to stop the weather getting to it but that's it all right let's go
let's go to our laundry slash storage room what are you doing there are you
getting food as usual coffee of course yes this is our little
coffee nook that was obviously really important to us to have a little space
because we love our coffee so there you go coffee nook
one thing what are we a bit short on do you reckon coffee beans
food storage oh yeah so what what we're going to do
is in this corner here we're going to get a big pantry
and yeah that's going to be more storage for us so that
that will come it will come but anyway big timber entry
oh yes this is beautiful is it red gum i have no idea
we found a local timber mill really nice he does it so cheap you just send him
the measurements what you want and he cuts whatever you want
yeah now this room is a bit of a still a work in progress but
i'll show you the most amazing thing of all
here's my washer and dryer how good is that oh no did i just turn it off i think i
did but oh my god this is oh i've missed
a washing machine this is an eight kilo one
it's just amazing and then round here i'll put a couple of big benches in for
beck yes we still got we won't show you
there's a lot of crap under there but and a nice big window so you can fold
your washing and look out there it's really nice so yeah this is going to be
like my yeah just storage laundry bench sort of
thing do the washing store the kids stuff
our school stuff when we eventually come back here and pop them back in school
yeah so we've kept up we've got coro ceiling
um a couple of fans and down lights we've run all pendant lights
off here and a bit of hardwood and then we've continued that
through here we've got a coro roof all the way into the piece de resistance my
dear what is that oh and okay so initially i did see this
on pinterest you know why it's kind of been inspired
by outback bathrooms we've seen on our
travels we have seen a lot of corrugated iron
bathrooms on our travels so when i seen that and from our travels and things i
was like holy heck i have to do that so and and we have a shortage on vj so it
was a sign that we had to do a coro bathroom
so come on in this is our cute little bathroom
justin actually made this bench top this is from the wood guy yeah
yeah it's part of the fence posts and the skins from the tinder mill and i just
got this mirror like from kmart is there's anything you want to know if
you've seen that you want to know where it's from or
how we did it just drop it in the comments below because we're happy to
answer but oh yeah this is it a toilet a flashing
toilet so we got lucky there was already well
there was a toilet here and a septic set up one there yeah there was
what didn't look as fancy as this so we just kind of
we've done a full reno and this is our beautiful
bathroom shower yeah yeah we just we are going to put a glass shower screen on
here but we sort of run out of money at the
moment and i need to get one made to fit from here to here but anyway
it's really nice though i can tell you one thing that i'll never do again
is toilet yeah
