My first overseas trip with Erin was to Panglao. We fell even more in love and had such a good time. This time I'm back but she's at home, pregnant.
Freediving with the Sardines was again...Incredible! And it was so great seeing Balicasag Island in all it's glory. Last time we were here was Chinese new year. It was sooo busy and there were hundreds of tourists walking over the reef.
If you haven't already, add Panglao to your freediving wish list! It is a must to visit.

So now it's the deep week after after party and we're all going to Panglao to basically
hang out and dive with sardines and maybe do a deep dive or two and just have a holiday.
And then we are now at the ferry terminal. A flight from Kuala Lumpur to Cebu. This is
killing me. Alright so to get to Panglao we've taken a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Cebu and
then from Cebu we take a ferry over to Bohol. Bohol is the main insular on that island.
So we're here in the ferry terminal and we are going to Bohol.
Good morning. So we are at Almira Resort and after I slept for what felt like 14 or 15
hours yesterday I'm awake. So we're about to go for a little walk off the front to hop
in the ocean. Right out in front of the resort is where all the sardines are. So we are going
to go and play with sardines and yeah hopefully it's fun. We'll see what the business is like.
We'll see if it's nice or I don't know. I'm tired man. Let's go and do this thing.
So the conditions aren't the best. So it's just wind. It's just like really windy which
makes it really choppy here and I'm waiting for Dan and Shane to go and play around and
take some photos and I don't know some of the sardines. So where are Dan and Shane? Here we are.
Just wait. I don't know if you know this about me but I am always on time. Anyone that's ever
dived with me, trained with me, done anything with me knows that I'm always very punctual.
So this is very disappointing Dan. Very disappointing Shane.
So after diving with sardines and laying in bed, we're having dinner at a place called
The Shaka and it was Lee's idea because Lee's a vegan.
Durian and we've just found a spot.
Very exciting. We've just got a lead on where we might be able to pick up some durian.
Here's the fruit shop.
Hello. It's okay.
Durian?
She doesn't have. Well she has but it's not ripe.
Get it Dean. Get it.
Durian.
Hello.
This is ripe?
This is good? Okay. How much?
Dean, you don't just rush into this.
And there is a durian master buyer.
Adam pretends like he knows how to choose durian.
I'm actually very good at picking a durian.
How much per kilo?
250.
I don't think Adam knows how to choose durian.
You got more over here.
So what we're doing now is I'm going to show Alexi and these guys
how to select a proper ripe durian.
So effectively what we're doing is to smell.
You smell it?
Like in this part yes, in this part no.
Well that means that one chamber is going to be ripe
and the rest are not going to be ripe
so it's not a good durian.
So we need to move on to the next one.
You need to be able to smell the sweet ripeness.
So this just smells like wood.
If it smells like wood, it's not good.
I like the smell.
It's like garlic cheese.
So we're going home now to have a proper
durian ceremony as the king
of fruit deserves.
Alright, and the durian ceremony
is now commencing.
It is ripe.
Is it very horosho?
Very horosho.
Horosho.
And the smell is the best.
Adam's been in the Philippines for
three whole weeks now.
What a p***.
I've been home
vomiting every morning, every evening
and every night pretty much.
It's been awesome.
We did actually have a scare last night.
I had a bit of spotting which is like
light bleeding and I think when you've had
a miscarriage any kind of sign
of anything going wrong is a bit petrifying.
When I woke up I went straight to our GP
and told him what was going on.
He told me that it's probably too early
to do this but I'm going to try something
and if we don't hear it, no problem.
If we do, fantastic.
So we got out this little ultrasound machine
that helps you hear the heartbeat of the baby.
I wasn't really expecting anything
to be honest but the second he put it to my stomach
we heard the heartbeat.
So I'm just on cloud nine right now
and Adam, sucks to be you
because I got to hear it first.
Shane, where are we going this morning?
We're going to Balicasag.
Balicasag.
Oh, hilarious Shane.
Hilarious.
Balls.
So we're going to go to Balicasag
island or marine park.
It's a marine park.
I've actually been here before.
Last time I was here was with Aaron
and coming to Panglao was our first overseas
trip together.
So we're actually going to all the same places
that me and Aaron went to.
It's the exact same trip that I did with Aaron
except Aaron's not here.
Close.
Oh, she doesn't want to come.
Hello cutie.
Hello.
You coming for a dive today?
It started out as
quite a simple joke
thinking we both thought it would end
quite quickly
and now it's continued.
I have a horde of Honkanese
I believe they're called
chasing me down
for more and more celebrity photos.
So
yesterday
there was a group that were asking us about
freediving and what freediving is and I started
telling them that Ryan here was this
big Australian champion freediver
and just what a
big deal he was and they started taking photos with him
and they've been hunting him down in the morning to take more
photos with him. It's great.
Balicasag island is about an hour by
boat from Panguao and
it was a really nice boat ride. I think we had some very
calm seas and it was very comfortable.
Besides a restaurant or two
there's really not much on the island except for
the incredible diving which is what we are here
for.
Look at this baby goat.
Hello little baby goat.
So cute.
I want to eat everything. I eat everything.
I didn't
bring the actual wire that connects
my drone
remote to the phone so I can
see what's going on as I'm flying it.
So for the first time ever I'm flying the drone
I don't know if you can see it there.
There you go. Flying the drone blind.
Flying the drone without seeing where
I'm going or what's going on and it's a bit scary
because I don't know sometimes if it gets far away
is it going forward, is it going backward
I can't work it out but I've got it home and
hopefully I got a
shot.
Further than I could
At a price
Too steep
for me to handle
It landed
on my shoulders
Harder than it should
Had I known
I would have left much sooner
Here we go
Here we know
Who we are
What we need
Will we
stand our
ground
I have to take my hat off to the
Filipino authorities. This marine park
is alive.
Check this out. This is one
shot. I wanted to swim along the reef
and just see what I could collect in the camera
in one single shot
What we have
today
Some way
Philippines
you have been beautiful and now I'm getting home
to my pregnant wife.
