How repairing a stucco hole in your porch ceiling is done.mp4

Howdy folks, Kirk and Dan here on the job today and Dan was telling me that Since Jay's doing some of his work on his job about I film you and I thought with what this is my iPhone He's got a pretty state-of-the-art iPhone. I said, let's try it. I'm curious to see how well that iPhone works to film this when we first started like 15 years ago, I had an iPhone and it was It was hard to hear me. So I don't know if that iPhone will record me Anyway, what they had here was a little hole a little hole and I did it online It came and I thought wow, I have to remove a lot of it right there You can see what we have taken off and so I know where to stop and where to start and so what I've done is Cleaned up all the wood and then I wet the wood and I hit it with well to create this blue stuff That's just a bonding agent because in the old days and make sure I'm not losing this mud while I'm yammering But let me get I'll do both that one in the old days This would laugh it was used in say night 1890 to 1920 of course if people had excess they're not gonna throw it away. They're gonna use it So I already understand this is a hundred year old And what what happened was the roof leaked and so This system was so well designed that Let's you get a leak. It'll last forever Long time So what I did was I broke out everything that was compromised and then I applied this bonding agent to the area that Needed it, which was the wood. I want my stuff. Oh not only to adhere to this wood By suction, but I also wanted to key in these The last here the wood strips you got your joists The joists are every two feet probably on this old ceiling and then put these wood strips over that And so this creates a key. This is a key right here It's a key so the stuff that goes in there kind of like that old button board in the 1950s and 60s used for interior so What I'm going to do is finish Clustering this and you might say well gee what material you're using that's white. It's chem set plaster chem set For interior exterior use and since that actually takes a while to dry How wild? about a couple hours So I've added Accelerators Because if you guys watch what we do, you know, I don't like to be here all day Especially when it's not necessary We don't like to watch paint dry guys Anyway The idea for the mesh this metal here is to not only secure this but to hold the rest of the ceiling It's done right and I kind of overlapped everything because that's what I want to achieve now Because I have put the Accelerators in here. It's taken a material that usually takes about all an hour Sometimes longer this stuff is very similar. I think to structure like where electrolytes Use for hospitals and schools, but it does take about three and a half hours to five to dry now notice This is starting to turn a Darker color that means it's starting to set so That right there is pretty much done I'm gonna give this about Another ten minutes, then I'm gonna just finish it off a little bit tighter for the joints but for you guys see that and for The camera Dan is using his phone. I'm curious They could work with it and put it on to our site. And if so How well is the quality because he was telling me that maybe we should upgrade our big camera Okay, if that's necessary we'll do it Dan says let's try out my camera And I am very curious to see what this camera does. So while I'm messing with this, I'm gonna end it And one more stroke just to make it pretty for you guys We're watching this Anyway, that's that's how you do a ceiling and you what I basically did is I was pushing up everywhere when I got here And I said, okay, here's what you have this much is gonna come loose. How do you know that? I've been doing this forever like 40 years I I've taken off a hundred ceilings and the idea is to score it if necessary or pull it down and know what you're doing Because this whole ceiling could come down technically and Dan and I we were just talking about it Remember that time that ceiling fell on your head my head and Jake we removed the light the whole ceiling fell down on us Anyway, thought I'd point that out.
