I'm Kevin Mollick. I'm the owner and the originator of Timberleaf Trailers.
We have become really well known for two basic trailers. We have the Classic over here.
The Classic is a 5x10. The difference between the Classic and the Pika, which is over here,
the Pika is 4.5x8 feet. The biggest difference in the two of them that people ask a lot is
the Classic here has a water system, has a sink, has a lot more cabinetry than the typical trailer.
Everything is very ergonomic in our trailer, very functional.
So if you look at the way this pulls out, you can stand here and work off this countertop.
This countertop, this sink, the stove, while never having to lift things off or lids or whatever,
move things out of the way. This is actually a cooler as well.
This is the only custom cooler I think you'll ever find in a teardrop.
And this performs just as well as all the high-end pre-made coolers.
Not that they're bad, but we like this because it fits our space perfectly.
In other words, it fits the space really nicely and it does dual function. That's what we like about it.
This particular one has a custom feature that nobody else has, I'm sure.
We do a custom topo map when people opt for it.
This one specifically is in the Colorado Rocky Mountains with the Continental Divide running through it
and Grand Lake running right into the sink.
We're very proud of it because it's my own design and it's one-of-a-kind.
It's actually the accurate scale of 1 to 20,000, which is something I'm kind of passionate about because I like topo maps.
I used to be a surveyor when I was in the Army and this is the actual scale old-school maps would be.
The Classic typically carries all of this that you see as a standard.
The only thing that's optional that we've added on this particular one would be the cooler and the partner stove.
Everything that we try to use as options on our trailer is top-of-the-line.
So if we do, say, a stove, it's the partner stove, which is synonymous with the best.
The river runners use them a lot. They're an awesome stove.
The Classic has a queen-sized bed.
We call it a Colorado Queen, which means, in our mind, it's basically 57 inches wide by 80 inches long.
And it's truly an 80-inch long mattress, which is a really important thing for anybody that's very tall.
Take a look inside.
The mattress is typically 5 inches thick, but we have an option, which has that option of a 7-inch dual thickness.
So in other words, there's two different kinds of foam. It's a very plush mattress for a little trailer.
All the Classics, all our trailers, in fact, come with two doors, two windows, and a skylight.
One of the largest skylights I think you'll ever see on any kind of a trailer.
The skylight has an included shade as well.
We have these skylights actually curved and bent, heat-formed to our shape.
The cabinetry inside, everything in there that you see is all standard as well.
All the cabinetry on the foot of the bed, the cabinetry at the head of the bed, the headboard, is all standard.
One of our specific features that we are very proud of, and we try to incorporate on every single trailer,
all our wood finish is real wood. We finish everything ourselves.
One of the things that we're unique about, and I'm sure not very many people, if anybody does,
is we use a zero VOC waterborne finish.
We're behind California in that regard, but I was adamant about getting something that would be totally safe to sleep inside,
because effectively you're sleeping inside this cabinet.
Once you close it up, if there's any leftover VOCs, it's pretty potent.
It can be, and it takes months and months and months for regular varnishes and stuff to gas off.
Ours is gassed off within 24 hours when we would like that.
And yet it's a really smooth finish. I mean, it's not just something we roll along with a roller.
It's a straight-on, furniture-quality finish.
This particular trailer is our off-road package.
So that's why it's fitting that we're at the Overland Expo.
But we consider ourselves to be somewhat of a wolf in sheep's clothing.
Although we have an aesthetic, we think, a very stylized shape.
It doesn't look like your burly, typical trailer that's the box that can handle any off-terrain running.
This trailer will do anything any rugged 4x4 will do.
This one is the lower version of that one.
It's also the classic, which is the 5x10.
But the difference is it still has all-terrain tires and a Timberland suspension.
But this one only has 12 inches of clearance, whereas the off-road version has 17 inches of clearance.
That's a lot of clearance.
Either one of these, though, has the same Timberland axle-less suspension, which includes brakes.
It's the 3,500-pound axle.
And the brakes, as well as the max coupler, are all part of a package we offer when you go to the all-road,
which is what this is called, or the off-road, which is the other one we were just looking at.
You can see the door panels.
They match whatever the exterior is.
In this case, this is a new color we just designed.
This is a custom powder-coated copper finish.
We're calling it vintage copper, so it has a certain patina to it that we've never seen anybody else do.
And this also has all the black trim that's been powder-coated, as well, to contrast with the copper.
We're really excited about it, actually.
So this is our first time to show it off to the public.
In fact, you are the first one to film it.
We have others coming.
Now, this one is the Pika.
The Pika is 4 1⁄2 by 8.
It has a full-size mattress.
The Pika is every bit as good as the other trailer.
It's just more condensed, so as a result, we don't have cabinetry in the cabin.
We have little flip-up shelves.
In fact, I can go around if you want to take a shot of that.
We have these little flip-up shelves that are optional.
That was on the Classic, as well.
But even in this little Pika, we have two doors, the two windows, and the skylight, and the shade.
That's all standard.
But this is a full-size mattress.
The full-size mattress is standard.
In other words, nothing unusual about the size.
It's a full 54 by 75 inches.
Now, the galley of the Pika is just as you see it, with the exception of a few details.
We don't have the two drawers and a door, typically, on the Pika.
We have an opening here that's ready for, say, a refrigerator, like a Dometic fridge.
But this is an option we're just showing at the show here, with two drawers and a door.
Everything about our trailers is as high-end as we can get, as far as the wood quality.
Everything is Baltic birch, which is effectively solid birch.
In other words, every one of those 13 plies you see right there is actually birch.
And it's not terribly uncommon, but what's uncommon is just how we treat it and finish it.
In other words, the finish and the feel of all the wood is truly, we feel, furniture quality.
You can sort of get a peek at some of the laminate colors we use.
We're very much into sort of a mid-century modern.
So we've found and sourced this laminate that has this retro boomerang shape, which is pretty fun.
We offer about 12 different colors for all the countertops.
One of the unique things that a lot of people don't do in the teardrops is the hatch.
The hatch is a really critical component, because if you rely on the ribs that go through this for the strength alone,
they're not going to be very strong, because the ribs alone aren't that strong in case, over time, they want to warp or whatever.
What we do is called torsion box construction.
So we put a veneer or an eighth-inch plywood on each surface, and the entire thing is glued to the ribs,
thus forming this, what we call, torsion box construction, which is effectively like a high-tech hollow corridor,
but with thicker material and a lot better interior components.
But it means that when we close this door, it fits.
I'll show you.
I mean, every single time, every one of our hatches closes just like that.
And that's before we've even locked it with these little latches.
We use a compression latch so that when we turn it, it's actually locked now.
When we turn it again, it squeezes it just a little closer, so like another 3-16ths of an inch,
to form even a better seal right here from the dust and the rain.
All of our trailers have up to about 30 different options.
You can see some of them here.
This one, both of these have a Sunseeker awning by Rhino.
That really complements our trailer, because we feel people aren't living inside the trailer.
They're living outside the trailer.
On this one over here, you can see underneath, we've got what we call a dome awning by Rhino,
and this is what we use over the galley.
The dome awning is a really popular item for our trailers
because it is where we typically will set up our tables and chairs.
Here's another shot of a different one, just with a different one of the retro designs and the laminate again.
One of the typical ways, this is our personal trailer, and this is how we stack it.
So we have all these little bins and things like that, so everything can stay in there all the time
and ready to go at a moment's notice.
So anybody interested in finding out about us, we have a website, timberleaftrailers.com.
We also have a very big following on Facebook and Instagram.
On Instagram, it's a great way to see a lot of different uses for our trailers by all our owners.
That's a great source for just seeing how they get equipped.
They have more photos on there than we do.
You can reach us at our office as well.
We work out of Grand Junction, Colorado.
We moved recently, about a year ago, from Denver to go to a smaller, slower community
where there's a lot more outdoor activity.
