Hey guys and welcome to Dream Destination for another informative video.
Are you ready to escape the cold and head off to Europe?
Exploring foreign countries with that diverse nature and culture isn't always possible for
different reasons. When that happens I enjoy watching travel videos to inspire me,
to help me plan a trip or to simply travel virtually to places far away.
Whether you're traveling to escape the cold temperatures in your hometown,
celebrating a special occasion or simply have the urge to travel during the quieter months of the
So let's have a look at the top 10 places.
Number one, Tenerife Canary Islands.
The largest of the Canary Islands and home to the third highest volcano in the world,
which is also the highest peak in Spain.
Here temperatures rarely drop below 21 degrees.
Tenerife has some of the longest and driest winter days in Europe.
It's best to rent a car and explore the island.
A drive to Masca village is a must do with its breathtaking scenery.
A full day visit to Anaga forest will please wildlife enthusiasts.
And of course let's not forget about the natural attraction,
Mount Teide and its correspondent national park with its marshall-like landscape.
While up there visit the Teide Observatory where scientists study zodiacal light and solar activity.
Tenerife's dark clear skies make it one of the best places for stargazing.
Number two, Madeira, Portugal.
There is so much to rave about in regards to Madeira.
It's gorgeously dramatic terrain, warm temperatures year-round and lively culture.
You'll be puzzled why you never considered it before.
At about 1500 kilometers from mainland Portugal,
Madeira is one of Europe's most remote and exotic islands.
It enjoys 12 hours of daylight in the winter and temperatures hover at around 18 to 20 degrees.
This is a place for nature lovers.
Imagine black sand beaches, towering rock walls and Madeira's rugged interior is ideal for hiking.
Take the cable car up to Monte Palace and visit the tropical gardens.
Also don't forget to sample the local Poncha,
a delicious alcoholic drink made from sugar cane, lemon, honey and fruit juice.
Number three, Algarve, Portugal.
The beautiful Algarve region in south of Portugal offers its visitors incredible landscapes,
countless beaches and picturesque coastal towns.
With blissful quiet beaches, peaceful hiking trails,
excellent food and drinks and top-notch hospitality.
The winter weather might not be enough for a beach holiday,
but definitely an upgrade from the cold and dark winter that most of Europe experiences.
The daytime temperatures hover between 15 and 20 degrees.
It's best to rent a car when in Algarve.
Go hiking as the region's blessed with some of the most spectacular hiking trails.
Stroll along the empty beaches and explore the towns.
Plus if you fancy a day trip, you could visit some of the local vineyards for tasting sessions.
Number four, Malta.
In just a few hours you could be whisked away from dodging puddles on a cold grey day
to a land that tops the charts for winter sunshine.
Malta enjoys an average of seven hours each day in January.
Consider exploring the sandstone capital of Malta,
Valletta and its museums, cathedrals, palaces and gardens.
And if you're feeling lazy, a sunny day by the pool is entirely feasible.
Wander around the streets lined with barracuda architecture
or head out along the coastline exploring its alluring harbour,
pretty fish villages, rocky coves and towering cliffs.
Number five, Cyprus.
With winter temperatures hovering around 23 degrees,
you'd be hard-pressed to find a reason not to visit Cyprus in the winter months.
It's perfect to rent a car and weave in and out of the island's ancient mountain villages,
learn about the lost civilisation of the tomb of kings
and make sure to look out for the many beautiful churches.
If the warm weather gets too much,
you can always retreat to the Troodos mountains for a spot of skiing.
Number six, Lanzarote, Canary Islands.
In case you haven't guessed already,
the Canary Islands are the winner when it comes to finding sun in the winter months
and Lanzarote is no exception.
This volcanic wonderland has a unique landscape recognised by UNESCO.
Step away from the beach resorts to experience the best of what the island has to offer,
from exploring lava caves to visiting Europe's first underwater museum.
Lovers of sea swimming will enjoy a dip throughout the winter months on Lanzarote,
especially in November and December
when the water holds on to some of the summer warmth at around 20 degrees.
Number seven, Mallorca, Spain.
Sunny days and crisp nights are a recipe for a winter holiday in Mallorca.
The cooler months are ideal time to visit the island's capital, Palma,
which you can browse the museums,
visit the mystical Arab baths and dine in the Michelin-starred restaurants.
Visit the countryside and have a delight in tasting some of the island's 300 locally grown wines
or hike into the Sierra de Tromontana,
a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is brimming with almond blossoms in late January.

It is charming all year round,
though the temperatures can fluctuate from the low teens to the early 20s.
It is a fabulous time to enjoy the warmth of the hospitality.
There are many reasons to visit Greece's largest island.
If not for the beautiful landscapes,
check out its ancient ruins, delicious cuisine and gorgeous beaches.
There are only a handful of pink sand beaches in the world,
and Crete boasts two of them.
Number nine, Sicily.
The sweet, charming island of Sicily picks your perfect towns,
amazing landscapes and food to die for.
Sicily might not be an obvious place for winter sunshine,
but you're a lot more likely to get a healthy dose of sunshine here

Even though it's still possible to bring a swimsuit,
the winter months are better suited for cultural exploration and land-based activities.
Wander amid the ancient Greek and Roman ruins at many sites throughout the island.

Less popular than Barcelona or Madrid,
the city of Seville in Andalusia benefits from the warm winters
and it's ideal for a city break.
