Hi there, welcome to my channel.
This is Daniella with a travel video on a jungle adventure in Malaysia.
Well guys, we just made it to the Wawasen hill and waterfalls.
We're entering the jungle right now and we just found out that the waterfall is probably closed.
So we'll see. We'll see if we can still have fun.
So during my time here, I wanted to go on a hiking adventure in the jungle.
I did have the worst weekend to do so since it was a holiday in Malaysia
and there were traffic jams everywhere outside of the city.
No one wanted to take us to the cool spots I had in mind,
so we had to pick from something somewhat local.
That being said, if you are in Kuala Lumpur and you have limited time to get an adventure
and workout done, this video is for you.
We took a 30-minute taxi drive from Kuala Lumpur to Wawasen Hills.
Wawasen Hills is a free of cost trail in Poonchong, which is a major town south of KL.
The trail is open from 8am to 4.30pm.
The track is well maintained and is great for groups of people and also solo hikers.
It's a 3.7km long, which can take you a bit over an hour to complete.
We took exactly an hour and 20 minutes taking stops here and there to chat and enjoy our time.
There are things you should know about the Wawasen Hills.
It has a forest inside that is part of the University Putra Malaysia
In the forest, there are hidden precious gifts from the mother nature
like waterfalls and the blue lagoon.
People used to spend hours and hours lost in the jungle looking for these gems.
They would enjoy the waterfalls as a reward as well as the blue lagoon waters,
which apparently are a total paradise.
And if you notice, yes, I am speaking in past tense
and that is because this option is no longer available.
The University Putra Malaysia leases the forest for research purposes
from Selangor Forestry Department.
There is a sign that warns the forbidden areas with no entry without permission
upon conviction a fine of up to 10,000 ringgit or 3 years in prison or both.
I'm not going to lie, I was disappointed not to be able to see the waterfalls or the blue lagoon,
but that's okay.
A local who has seen the blue lagoon before said that the way to the blue lagoon
is now pretty much unknown for newbies
and it can be dangerous and a very, very long way into the jungle to get there.
If you try to find the waterfall or the lagoon,
you will be looking at a five hour journey into the unknown.
So it's best you follow the rules and don't try it.
What I'm trying to get to is that you will be coming to a valuable territory.
The hiking trail looks small,
but this forest actually counts with 1,200 hectares of hilly rainforest terrain.
Now about the hike, which is the thing you can actually do these days.
I noticed there were people trail running or hiking like us.
The trail running looks super fun and I had no idea it was a thing.
So now I want to get into it,
but I do need to improve my fitness just a little bit before I try it.
Anyways, for the first 10 minutes of your hike,
you're going to find a steep incline
and the terrain is open with clear views over the neighboring suburbs.
After this part, you're not going to get a lot of views of the urban city.
You will be going through a medium challenging ascent,
then a descent and then an ascent again before the final descent.
Make sure to go at a pace that best fits you.
We try to go really fast and then take a little break and then go really fast again.
It was honestly really fun.
Reminders along the road.
Don't overload your engine.
Engine?
Engine.
There are some sweet encouraging signs along the trail.
It generally feels very safe and easy to get through.
And though the route is good for beginners,
it can be a little bit challenging at some point.
Nick even broke a shoe and that is because the floors are quite slippery,
bumpy and muddy, which honestly makes it fun.
Overall, the experience provides a good exercise as the terrain is undulating
and the highest point reaches an altitude of 233 meters.
Expect to sweat profusely.
Bring some mosquito repellent before you come.
Definitely bring water and fresh clothes and do not contaminate the environment.
You can tell that the people that come here really care about the good maintenance of the hills
and they actually have cleaning sessions every now and then.
So please be gentle with nature.
Some people get lucky and see interesting animals.
During our journey, we got to see some super cute turtles and I got to kiss one.
This was a good felt experience overall
and we're so glad we got to get out of the busy city on times like this
just to enjoy the nature and a good workout.
What are your thoughts about the Wawasin Hill?
Have you ever been before?
Have you seen the mysterious Blue Lagoon?
I want to know everything about it.
