Something I was thinking about Candy is the fact that Osaka, she really hasn't played a lot of
tennis since last year. She's only played two top 25 players since Madrid last year
and as Benchic has played a lot of the top players, how is that really factoring in?
Do you think that Osaka hasn't had enough reps really playing a lot of these big name players
for quite some time? Yeah, I think there's a relevant point. Just looking back and she's won
six completed matches from April of 2021 to September when she cooled her season last year.
We know a few things about her as a major champion. She's won four
brilliant major finals but we haven't seen the best of Naomi Osaka for quite some time.
It has been a really good showing this tournament but now it's a matter of can
she keep it consistent. For her it's all really about enjoying it isn't it?
Taking the pressure off herself.
Not to take away from the other players that Osaka has beaten but
Benchic has had to go through the Bedoza's, Karachikova's that contributes you know on
route throughout last year playing against these top players so maybe a little bit of
the advantage playing the top players that Osaka hasn't had that opportunity against.
Bring up the level of game in the big situations.
Still early though just the first five games in number six in this sixth game.
Really getting her feet up to the board she was struggling a little bit with the wind on
this side of the court where she lost both games including her service game for the second time
and just got to adapt have those short little steps when it's a bit windy
make that a little bit of adjustment this set is definitely not over.
So it's important just to give yourself a little bit more margin.
Osaka with nine unforced errors now she only had three in the quarterfinal win.
Unbelievable wasn't it? 25 winners and three unforced errors against her.
So Osaka gets the break back still down the break but 4-2
make her feel better than 5-1 that's for sure.
Were they really?
