DARKFEST 2021 - Whole course is finished and The Riders Arrive

Hello everyone, welcome back to Darkfest where we're on the last final days of the build actually. Things are really starting to look good. We are just putting some final touches on the course including the big two rocket launchers, the massive massive two jumps down at the bottom. We're working on a bit of drainage over the next couple days too because unfortunately it looks like there's a lot of rain coming this weekend just before all the riders arrive so we're gonna have to finish that up. Let's get into it I guess. So day two, working on these big rocket launchers down in the hole. This morning me and Justin worked on the drop landing. He finished that up proper nice. So next up Sea Dog needs to pack in this sort of landing and roller. We did a bit of work on the takeoff last night of the first rocket launcher number one. It's a huge one, it's now a big arrow which is quite funny. Right now we're just picking loads of rocks out of the riding surface so when Sea comes to pack it in it's super smooth and also we're packing this drainage full of rocks too so it doesn't erode quite so much. Hopefully we're ready for the rain which might be coming this weekend again. So fingers crossed it's not too bad and that the course can handle it now. So we are at the rocket launcher number one landing and I've improved the landing a little bit by making it like a tiny bit steeper because we had quite an impact and yeah I just finished shaping it and as you can see the landing goes on for quite a while. I mean I started that sentence way back there and I'm still maybe just at half of the landing. Oh I'm at the rocket launcher landing number two and I'm gonna fix it. So the course will be finished tonight and you could in theory then do a top to bottom. Obviously we've been building for like the last two weeks so the jumps are really nice but for on Saturday the whole of tomorrow it's gonna like really rain a lot so we've got some like plastic tarp and we're gonna try to protect the jumps. Hopefully that'll keep like the nice shaped lips all clear and kind of minimize the damage and then if anything we'll just need to do like a All right mask back on. We're at the airport because our first round of riders have arrived. We've got I think four guys we're picking up now including Adolf who is one of the best guys and yeah come to meet them and pick them up myself. How's it going? Welcome buddy. Thank you. What's up? Yeah most of the building is done now well most of the building is done now and we're heading towards the event time so every one of us will do a covid test now and we're going to create a bubble of only negative results and everyone else has to stay out. Well all the boys are all out it rained savagely the last sort of day or so really hard so the course a little wet but everyone's super stoked a load of the riders are here there we go do a new haircut and everyone's stoked to help out get on the tours and get this course running as quickly as possible this is what it's all about oh man the tarping job did such a good job I'm so stoked. Sea Dog's been up here already for for a good half hour making some magic. It's so good to see you. I think I watched the highlights for the 2021 at least 20 times. What do you think about that? I just went for a walk to up that. Yeah it's pretty big. How's it looking? Looks ready to go maybe sooner. This is insane what the hell I'm too amped. I can't believe this is real. I'm too excited to ride. Let's go. It's looking the best as always. I've been down here and blown away. I can't believe it. Actually haven't seen everyone for like a whole year. I think everyone's quite stoked it's nice seeing everyone's first reactions it's always pretty rad so yeah I think everyone's quite stoked. Yeah it's really cool having like the best riders come here to check out what we've been just fixing up over the last couple weeks and yeah they seem really stoked and really keen to see them send us. Yeah last year it was like it was hard pack underneath and then it was like a foot of dust on especially after the step up so today I'd like to mark like today should be a bit too wet but then tomorrow should be perfect like the best conditions ever. What a mega effort from everyone today really making it happen that's the Darkfest spirit everyone coming in together making a massive job not so bad with many hands and everyone is super excited to ride as you can see the course is back in the game and I think tomorrow morning Darkfest begins all the riders have arrived and we're ready to kick things off tomorrow morning watch out guys it's gonna be a good one and one more thing there's been a lot of talk on the internet the last few days some arguments going on but basically to clear everything up the fest series have made a few new rules for their events which we at Darkfest didn't believe in and we didn't agree with so we've all decided it's best to part ways so Darkfest is no longer a fest series event which is sad but that's what it's come to but nothing's going to change don't worry we're going to keep on shredding hope you guys enjoy the videos and thanks for watching
