Hi friends! I'm going to be writing a letter to one of my friends today. I'm going to make a card
and write a letter and wax seal it in an envelope. I even do a couple of little drawings.
I'm also going to have a cup of tea. So here's my little stationery basket.
I got most of these things at the craft store, but the wax seal set I did get on Amazon.
I can link that in the description if anyone would like that. Here's my book where I press
some flowers. I'll just find flowers or things to press and put them in books and I'll forget
which book which flower is in, but I decided to open this one because I knew it had a few.
I think I'm gonna go with The Baby's Breath for this one. This is also a good book, Tuesdays More.
I'm actually having sleepy time vanilla tea. I'm on a sleepy time vanilla kick,
so I'm gonna let that sleep and then I'll grab some cardstock and get to writing this letter.
I didn't really have a plan of what I was gonna say in this letter. When I started filming,
I kind of just went with whatever I wanted to say. I just wanted to make this specific friend
happy. I wanted to surprise him and have him be excited to read this letter. He doesn't know that
it's coming in the mail, but I can read it to you. So, in this letter, I said,
hello my sweet friend. I'm sorry that it's been so long since I've written to you.
I hope all is well with you. I'm currently sitting in the sunshine, pondering all that
I'm thankful for and that involves you. Thank you for being a friend to me in this life.
I've been trying to go through each day with more intention and appreciation. You often cross my
mind. How have things been in your life? What are you most happy about lately? Much love,
Julia. I wanted to surprise this friend because he always writes me letters and I haven't responded.
I just haven't had time. I've been feeling bad about it, but I felt really inclined today.
So, here I am signing off. I just say much love and I sign my name and I do a little heart.
For the front of the card, I'm doing a little log cabin. Well, I attempted to make it look
like a log cabin. I am using pen, which is a big commitment. You know, can't erase that.
So, living on the edge here. I'm adding some shading to the side here just to kind of make
it look like the light's coming from the right side. Doing the smoke from the chimney is always
my favorite part. It kind of looks like it might be nighttime in this picture and I'm okay with
that. Here's the final product. So, now I'm just drawing some little details on the front of the
envelope. I decided to go with mushrooms because my friend is an outdoorsy person and I know that
he likes plants and nature. I'm also pretty good at drawing mushrooms, so that's also why I went
with that. I'm just adding some taller grass towards the sides to kind of frame in the envelope
a little bit. This side turned out a little bit better. The other side was practice. I gave this
mushroom some little dots. Here, I'm adding more tall grass and another little tiny mushroom.
I'm committing. I'm putting the card in the envelope. I always make sure that I've got the
card exactly how I want it before I seal it because it'd be really unfortunate if I had to
open this back up. I'm wrapping this in twine. I want to do a wax seal but also a bow.
I have an idea for the back of the envelope. I think I'm gonna do a bow kind of at the top
above the wax seal and have the wax seal over top of the twine. That'll also make sure that
the twine doesn't get lost when I drop it off at the post office. Here, I am just making the bow.
Also, a side note. I really like my new dress that I got that I'm wearing underneath of my apron.
I got it at a thrift store and I'm pretty sure that it's a grandma nightgown but it's really
comfy and the print reminds me of pop-tarts like the sprinkles on the tops of pop-tarts.
I've been calling it my pop-tart dress. Now that I've got the bow all set up,
I'm gonna go ahead and start prepping the wax seal. Here's my wax spoon and my wax.
I got both of these on Amazon. You just hold the wax spoon over top of the flame for a little bit
and it'll get hot pretty fast. Then, you apply some downward pressure on the wax as you push it
into the bottom of the spoon. You just gotta be careful not to spill it or burn yourself
because the wax is really hot. Now, I'm carefully walking over to my envelope.
I've moved the bow up so that I don't have to worry about it getting stuck in the wax.
I also let the wax cool a little bit before I pour it onto the paper. That way, it doesn't
soak through and it won't stick too much to the actual seal. Then, you just align the flowers up
and you press it down. I'll hold it for a little while and press down with some pressure.
There you have it. You got a wax seal. Thank you for joining me today, friends. I plan to make
more videos, so if you'd like to follow me, you can like and subscribe and I'll make more things.
