Another day, another project with Auto Auction Rebuilds.
So we didn't win anything at the auction yet, but there's one car on there still pending.
But, but there's always another car. You know what I mean? I don't sweat it when I don't win
something. Always another car. So we're out here. Yeah, it's cold. It's cold and we're out here
looking for a black Cadillac. There it is right there. We're looking for a black Cadillac.
It's a Flood. I think it's like an SRX or something, you know, the SUV type thing.
It's a Flood, very recent Flood. It's a pretty nice looking car. I'm looking at it right now,
and I bet you guys rather see that than my ugly mug. So I'll let you look at it.
All right, so here she is. So far it looks, it looks good. It looks really good. I like those
rims, man. Those rims are clean. Very nice. Tread on that tire looks good. Tread on that tire
looks good. It looks like it's got mismatched tires though. We've got some chrome flaking off
back there. That's some signature HP. Yeah, these tires are all mismatched. That's, uh,
to me that's a first sign that a car wasn't taken very good care of if the tires are all mismatched
on it, but whatever. I do have the Carfax on this. Click the link below. You can get a Carfax
report for $4 and 95 cents. No joke, $4 and 95 cents as cheap as you're ever going to get a
Carfax report for. So, uh, jump into that link in the description, grab your $5 Carfax report.
That's what I use. And, uh, this thing's got an extensive service history on it.
So it's got 160 something thousand miles on it. The AC compressor on this has been replaced,
I think, uh, 15, 20 times. It's insane how many times the AC compressor has been replaced on this
truck. Okay. So as we can see, somebody has been under the hood here. This is interesting. We had
all kinds of, uh, this must be like some kind of an aftermarket alarm. This was not a very good
install right here. Uh, this is the 3.6 liter. We can see that somebody has taken off this right
here. So it's good to know it comes with it. It's one less part I have to buy, right? Now
I think I may see water in here. Did water get in the mass airflow? Did water get in the air filter?
Okay. Water did not get in the air filter. This is interesting.
How is this a flood? I see no signs of a flood at all. Huh? I don't see any sign of water
anywhere in this thing. And you can look at the, uh, the throttle body right here. You can see
it's gummed up. It's dirty. It's very dirty. That's normal. I can hear the coolant, but I
don't see any sign of water, nor do I see a water line. Look down there. Normally you'll see grass
or you'll see something. Now she's definitely got a couple little oil leaks here and there. This one
I'm a little, a little paranoid about because I don't, uh, I don't see any sign of a flood on this
one at all. The interior doesn't look like it's been wet. It doesn't smell funky, nothing, nothing.
Let's check the oil. This could be, I mean, I I've only seen this once or twice out here,
but I have seen where a car blew a head gasket and someone brought it in here as a yep. Yep. Yep. I
have seen where a car has literally blown a head gasket and somehow they managed to get it in here
as a flood. So there you go. She's got milkshake, definitely got water in the oil that, uh, that's
depressing, but it does not look like the water got to the oil from, uh, from here. I don't see
how it could have the air filters clean, the air filters dry. It's not moldy. There's no water
present anywhere that I can see. What do you think happened with this? How do you think this got here?
I'm tempted to buy it just because, you know, obviously we'll change the oil. What do you guys
think? Like normally it's pretty cut and dry with me. I'll, I'll either be like, yeah, I'm going to
buy this or no, I'm not. But this one, this one, I'm a little, uh, I'm actually a little hesitant
on this one because I'm not really certain this was a flood. I'm not, I'm, I'm suspicious. Well,
wait, wait, wait. What is this on the floor over here? No, that's just, that's sugar. There's some
kind of sugar or something all over the floor. It's a $750 buy it now. So, I mean, it's not the
end of the world if it turns out to be a head gasket or something. We got a lot of, uh, fuses
and stuff over here. Somebody's been under it for something. Let's see if we got anything in the back
back here. Oh, it's got third row seats. Third row seats. I didn't know that. This could be worth a
little bit of money and the risk isn't that much. I'm thinking about it guys. Comment below. Should
we get it? Oh, there they are. All right. Did somebody pee in the engine? All right. So here we
go with this supposed flood vehicle. Interesting. It's got a ton of water in the engine. No doubt
about that. Somebody filled the water in the engine with water. And now we're finally getting
down to the oil. Very interesting though. This water is, uh, kind of smells like antifreeze.
There's more water in there than there is oil, dude. Interesting. This smells like antifreeze.
All right. So we're going to start with the reveal of the Cadillac. We bought it.
We bought it. Says it's a flood car. I'm not 100% sure. I actually tried to record a video
of draining the oil, but I don't think it came out right. But I'll go ahead and throw that in
there anyway. Just understand the video quality may suck. I don't know what happened. Camera got
sideways on me or something. Um, so as it turns out, we, you know, came in here, did not try to
crank it. I got the battery charging. We got us a, uh, well that's not it. There we go. The breaker
bar. First thing I want to do is see if the engine would turn by hand. You know, is it free or is it
frozen? As it turns out, this engine is seized. Um, and that happens. That happens. But as far as
this being a flood, I'm here to tell you, man, this is not a flood. This car is not a flood car.
I'm not sure how water got into the oil, but it was not from a flood. All right. The air filter
that came out of this thing, take a look at this. It's dry. There's no water, no moisture.
Water did not get sucked up through the intake. There's nothing to suggest water
got sucked up in there either. No water lines, no funny smells in the car, no mildew, no nothing.
This is not a flood car. This is, uh, I would guess at this point, either this has a blown
head gasket and somehow it got passed off as a flood or someone dumped water down the engine.
You know, I don't know. Now I'm not, I'm not sitting here saying this is insurance fraud.
I don't want to say anything like that. I'm just saying that, uh, this was not flooded.
This is, this is not a flood car. That's just all there is to it. This, this was not flooded,
but somehow water got in the oil. And now our job is to try to break this thing free.
If we can break it free slowly. And what I mean slowly, I mean, we take this breaker bar
and we gently rock the crank back and forth, back and forth, fresh oil in it,
back and forth. And eventually it should free up. Now, if we can't get it to free up that way,
at that point, we're going to have to pull this upper intake off the plenum, which is this
aluminum type plenum. We'll have to pull that off, pull the three coils off of each side,
pull all six plugs out, dump some Marvel mystery oil down those and let it soak and then try it
again in about 24 hours. So right now we're just going to put some fresh oil in it. We're going to
rock the, uh, crank a little bit with the breaker bar and see if we can break her free fairly
easily. We're not going to put, we're not going to put a ton of torque in this. You don't want to
force this thing gently rock her back and forth and we'll see what happens. All right. So we've
been cranking on this thing for, God, it seemed like about an hour, hour and a half. And I think
we finally got to where it's freed up some, the battery is so dead, even with jumper cables and
a booster pack. We're not, we're just not firing it up. Tim, go ahead and crank it. Show these
people. Try it again. Okay. Wait. Of course. Of course. Of course. When I go to show everybody,
you know how this is going. All right. Let's try it again. All right. You see there,
see how she's freeing up. It just takes, uh, it takes time. You got to be patient with it.
And even when you think you got it, you may come on camera and find out you ain't got it yet.
So, uh, we'll check back in. All right. So she cranks over on her own. Now we've got the battery
in there reconditioning because I think we got a definite problem with power distribution. Um,
but what we're going to do is since this thing was underwater and we got it free, there's no
rattling, there's no clanking, no nothing. It sounds healthy, but we're not going to try to
fire this up. Now she got fresh oil, fresh oil filter, mobile one, the whole works. I got a
we're going to do now is we're going to pop off the strut tower brace. We're going to
loosen up this upper intake plenum and we're going to slide it forward or slide it backwards.
I think I don't remember slides one where we're going to lift this thing up just enough. We don't
have to take it all the way apart, but we got to get these coils out. We got to get these spark
plugs out and we'll probably get the shot back out and see if we can get any water out. We don't
know if there's water under the coils, but there might be. And if there is, that could be a real
problem. Um, better safe than sorry on this one. I don't want the, the Sunfire didn't care
too much about this one. I actually hope we can get running. I think this would be a real cool,
uh, uh, series to show how we take a flood car and make it run. I guess we'll just, we'll just
have to see. So stay tuned. All right. So as it turns out, uh, it did suck up water. I don't
understand how this thing could have been in a flood. I really don't. There's nothing that
indicates this thing was in a flood, but she definitely sucked down water. So, I mean, we may
have to just agree that it was in a flood. Okay. This side over here doesn't look so bad, but this
side right here soaking wet. So this is real easy to pull off the Cadillac. Don't be scared of a
Cadillac, man. It's just another car. It's a little more complicated, but you gotta get a bolt, bolt,
bolt, bolt, bolt, bolt, couple little brackets, and you don't need to undo all this. We're not
pulling this manifold completely off. Not yet. We just need to get it up enough. So we have access
to our three coils on this side, then three coils on that side. We're going to pull these spark plugs
out and we're going to see what's going on under there. Betting they're probably full of water.
All right. So we're going to do this together. We're going to pull out the coil. She's dry.
She's dry. I expected this to be full of, uh, expect these to be full of water and they are not.
Okay. So that's good news. That's, that's really good news. Pull the last one. Oh,
this one's in there. Damn. There we go. Also dry. All right. Well, regardless, we're going to pull
these spark plugs out. They're way down in there. We're going to get these spark plugs out because
chances are the cylinders, since we can see it sucked water into the intake,
uh, those cylinders are probably full of water. So regardless, the spark plugs are coming out
and then we'll see if we've got, uh, any moisture in there. So here's where we're at right now.
We got all the spark plugs out and none of the cylinders were full of water,
at least not from the outside. Here's the three we just pulled out here.
So yeah, you people said, oh, Randy, you don't work on cars. Randy, you don't know what you're
doing. Randy, all you do is buy cars and flip them. Randy, I'm just messing with you. Well,
we're going to do some work on this one and flood vehicles are risky, man. They're really risky.
You know, sometimes you can win big and sometimes you can lose big, but I feel like this just wasn't
that big of a risk, you know, at $750, uh, 1045 out the door. It wasn't that big of a risk. We
got so many parts on this thing that are worth money. We make our money back, no trouble at all.
Let's continue. All right. So now we're going to try cranking it over, put a hot battery in it.
As you can see right there, fresh battery. Uh, let's, uh, crank her over.
All right. So with a hot battery, she cranks on her own, nothing spewing out of the spark plug
holes. So I guess it's time to basically reassemble and see what happens. All right.
So here's what we've got. We've got her put back together. We got her put back together.
She was cranking. It started sounding healthy. You could hear the compression build. And I was like,
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And, uh, and then the starter went out. Literally the starter,
you heard the starter break. Like I'll, uh, put the key in here for you and I'll crank it over
and you can hear it. Just, it's just grinding. The starter literally just, is that bad or not?
Yeah. Starter is blown. So this is what we're doing. We're going to take the starter off.
We're calling it a night. All right. So that's going to be it for the video. Ladies and gentlemen,
it's been a, uh, it's been a long day. I'm tired and there's more work to do. So stay tuned for
tomorrow's video. Um, I don't know where I think tomorrow we'll reveal the second car. That's what
we'll do tomorrow. We will reveal the second car. And then hopefully by the time the day after
tomorrow comes, we'll have, we'll have something figured out on this one way or another. So stay
tuned because we've got some exciting stuff coming. I think, uh, I think you're gonna be
really interested in tomorrow's car. Hopefully you're interested in this one too, because I'm
curious to see if we can get this flood car running. Stay safe out there, buddy. Give this
video a big thumbs up. Shout out to Tim for helping me and Jessica too. Jessica came out
to Copart a lot. She's been helping me a lot lately. Really appreciate her and John and Copart
for allowing us to come out there as always. And, uh, we're going to get out of here, guys. Stay
safe out there, buddy. We will catch you very soon in the next one.
