With the James Webb Space Telescope finally being positioned into orbit,
the entire world seems to have become crazy with the stellar pictures of the cosmos that it has
been fated to bring with it. An observatory that has been the culmination of tremendous effort,
resources of over $10 billion, and, that demanded the patience and hard work of the
space researchers for over 25 years, is sure to yield fruitful results.
In today's video, we have compiled the top 15 pictures of the various space entities,
that have been captured by the JWST and then relayed to NASA and other space agencies.
With that being said, welcome to Space News Unfold. We can't wait to share with you the
eye-catching pictures that Webb has succeeded in capturing. So, let's get into them real quick.
Image Number 1. The NGC Twin Galaxies.
The JWST has done a groundbreaking task by snapping the images of the twin galaxies NGC
4496 A and NGC 4496 B. An interesting fact about these galaxies is that both these galaxies are
located in the constellation of Virgo. The twist is that, as much as it may seem to you that the
galaxies are situated adjacent to each other, they are located at great distances not only
from each other but also from Earth. Isn't that pretty interesting?
The first galaxy, NGC 4496 A is situated 47 million light-years away from our planet.
Wondering what the distance of the other galaxy from Earth is? Well, NGC 4496 B is located 212
million light-years away from Earth. How overwhelming is that? It is really a precious
image, and thanks to Webb, we could finally rest our eyes on this rare picture.
Image Number 2. WASP-19B.
This picture, taken by Webb, is that of an exoplanet named WASP-19B. The most shocking
thing about this discovery by Webb is that it has aided the astronomers to become aware of the
presence of titanium oxide in its atmosphere, and that too for the very first time. The presence of
titanium oxide is beneficial in the sense that it can restrict the heat from either entering or
going out of the atmospheric layers. And, do you know what the consequence is? Well, it leads to a
thermal inversion rendering. The temperature stays higher in the upper atmospheric layers,
and lesser in the lower ones. What a crucial revelation it is!
Image Number 3. 2MASS.
The JWST has been an asset as this picture taken by the observatory is going to be of value for
the astronomers in enhancing their research work. This image is that of a star named 2MASS J17554042
plus 6,551,277. The Webb has also captured the snaps of other stars and galaxies,
as can be seen in the background. No wonder why the Webb is said to be the most powerful
observatory. After all, its pictures are proving to be useful to NASA officials and researchers
to a great extent. Image Number 4. Alpha Centauri.
The construction of the grand image of the sky surrounding the illuminating star Alpha Centauri
was possible owing to the images that had been captured by the JWST. Owing to the excellent optics
of the telescope and the event of photographic emulsion, the scattering of light, leads to the
star appearing so large in the image. Image Number 5. NGC 1637.
This image by the JWST displays the snap of NGC 1637, which is basically a spiral galaxy.
Do you know that it is located 35 million light-years away from the Eridanus constellation?
This image by Webb has aided the scientists in knowing this. It is in this very galaxy that the
scientists came across the Type II supernova. Image Number 6. NGC 972.
This spectacular image by the JWST illustrates highly illuminated, vibrant star formation
pockets that seem to be exploding in NGC 972, also known as the spiral galaxy. The beautiful
pink, red and orange glow is the result of the reaction of hydrogen with strong, glaring light
emanating from the stars that have emerged recently in space. This image, by Webb, showcasing the
indications of star formation, will aid the astronomers in studying more about galaxies
located all over the cosmos. An impeccable discovery by the Webb for sure.
Image Number 7. Bubble Nebula. This image of the Bubble Nebula or NGC 7635,
which is located 8,000 light-years away, has been taken by the Webb. Such a clear picture obtained
by Webb will aid the astronomers in understanding the complicated aspects of the cosmos at large.
Image Number 8. HD 85512. This image captured by the JWST depicts the planet going around the star
HD 85512, which looks like the Sun. What is interesting is to know that this planet is
one of those 16 super-Earths that have been discovered by the near-infrared camera installed
on the JWST. The Webb has revealed that this planet is nearly habitable because of the
Image Number 9. Triplet Galaxies. This picture of the Triplet of Galaxies by Webb shows
NGC 7173, the little ball of light at the top, NGC 7174 at the bottom right, and NGC 7176 at
the bottom left. The trio forms a part of the Hickson Compact Group. The images, as released
by Webb, have given the astronomers a clue that these three galaxies are finally going to merge
together and become one. Image Number 10. Crab Nebula. Webb's role in decoding crucial mysteries
about the universe is immense. This image taken by the JWST shows a highly detailed view of the
Crab Nebula. The WFPC2 camera of the Webb has played a great role in capturing such a larger
and wider view of the Crab Nebula. No other image of this nebula taken by other observatories was
as clear as the one captured by the Webb. Image Number 11. NGC 7094. The Webb snapped this picture
of NGC 7049, located in the Indus constellation. The glittering spots seen in the image are
basically globular clusters. These very clusters are studied deeply by astronomers to gain a
complete understanding of the formation of NGC 7049. As you can see, the dust lanes are visible
because of the glimmering light coming from the halo. Webb has really done a good job with this.
Image Number 12. Messier 83. The JWST was used to take this image of the area around the spiral
galaxy Messier 83. Learning more about the surrounding field of the galaxy is going to
help the astronomers in solving various other dark mysteries of other space entities in the universe.
Image Number 13. Nebula. Webb captured the image of this planetary nebula that is situated about
5,000 light-years away from the Cygnus constellation. A closer look at this mysterious
entity, provided by Webb, is going to aid the scientists in understanding more about the
Image Number 14. Eagle Nebula. This James Webb captured image aided the researchers and astronomers
to learn more about the most important entity in the space, that is, the Eagle Nebula's pillars of
creation. Thanks to the infrared light penetration, the pillars can be seen clearly. The picture also
shows the clear presence of baby stars that are still in their formative stages within these very
pillars. All thanks to James Webb for this remarkable picture. Image Number 15. Lutetia
asteroid. This is the picture of the mysterious Lutetia asteroid that has been snapped by Webb.
Probably, it is the leftover of that very material that has given rise to the formation of planets
such as Earth, Venus and Mercury. It seems that the asteroid was way too close to Earth in the past.
At the present, it is believed to be located in a position between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter.
