Meadowlark Log Homes _ Custom Log Home Build _ Episode 3

Welcome to episode three of this Meadowlark log home build here in beautiful Montana. And here we are in our... I lost track. I think we might be week four or something like that on this project here. But we're working here this week. We had a lot of snow and really cold temperatures last couple weeks over Christmas and New Year. So we just took a break and we're back again. Got a full crew. I think we got about seven, six or seven of us guys. And we're going to be trying to knock out this roof as much as we can. So we hope you enjoy it. Follow along. And it's about 15 degrees this morning. Supposed to get a little bit warmer. So we're looking forward to that. So join in and we will get going here. These guys, they got this done and the other side over there. So that's awesome. And it was chilly today. And the moon's already out. And we're just wrapping things up here and knocking off for the day. So guys did great. Didn't get a lot of footage. We're too busy trying to get the thing done. So apologize for that. But we'll get some more tomorrow hopefully. See you tomorrow. Hey we're back and we're rolling here. Working on this front side and the other side. Hopefully by this evening we'll have all this tongue and groove put on. That's a good thing. I'm trying to dig out some of this tongue and groove pine out of the snow here. So a lot of snow around here. We're working. We have all our tongue and groove on now. And now we're working on getting everything cut off really nice and square. So we can get put our ledger board on and then our rafters. So that's what we're working on. It's going good. This is Tuesday. We started yesterday and not today. We got the tongue and groove on squaring everything off. And by tomorrow we're going to start putting our rafters up. So it's going good. All right there's the house. It's starting to look more and more like a house. All the tongue and groove is on. All the decking's on. There's the moon again. Got these guys putting on rim. Getting ready for Joyce. All right we're up on the roof and we're ready to pull up rafters. We've got our porch rafters on and our two by fours which are where the rafters are going to sit. And we're ready to start pulling up our BCIs or TGI rafters. TGI tongue and groove I beams is what that stands for. We're starting to pull some wiring here as well. It's a big roof but we're making progress. We got spray foam coming tomorrow so we got to get going on this. Get these rafters up here so we can get get ready for spray foam. As they say another day another dollar. Well we got quite a bit done today. I think we're going to be ready for spray foam. I am a little bit concerned that we're going to be short of these rafters but I think we're going to have enough. I did locate some more and uh hoping that there's going to be enough. So got a bunch of rafters on bunch on the other side and about that time of day. There's no moon tonight because it's cloudy and it rained this morning but then it quit which was great. So yep looking good. Looking starting to look like a house I guess. Straps over the top. These help the uh BCIs to hold together the rafters so they don't hurricanes or winds or something don't tear the roof apart. It's a glorious day today. Real pretty. Making good progress. We still have some more rafters to put in. We got to nail some of these spaces in yet but it's nice. We got the foam guy coming in here in a couple hours. It's uh Thursday noon. Pulling up these rafters here. We're building this roof. It's going pretty good but you can see that it's a beautiful day. It's actually kind of warm which is nice. Got the spray foam guy down here. Putting this good thick insulation in here. Totally tight roof. Pretty awesome. Pretty wild BCI framing going on in here. Pretty complex situation. Right now we just put this 2x4 in for a valley and that's what we have to do on all of these. And you can see there's one going down right there. One on the other side. We're working on putting one in right now here. It's going good. Well I'm a pretty happy guy. We're done up here. All except for the spray foam. Pretty sweet. Came out pretty good I think. Let's go check out where all these roofs meet right here. It's pretty amazing. There's the garage. Got to finish tying that together. And there's a 360. And there is the moon right there. Wow what a beautiful evening. It's about quitting time. We just have to take a second to appreciate the sky this morning. Wow. So beautiful. Loving it. Anyways we're going to finish this breezeway today. And we're going to start sheeting. So we're going to finish the breezeway. Sheet it. And then finish this little attachment over to the garage right here. This is what we got done earlier. A couple weeks ago before Christmas. Now we're just going to finish this up. What do you say Tyler? Ready for sheeting? Let's do it. Got to wait on the foam guy. He's working on the other side this morning. And we're going to be chasing him. What a beautiful day. It's Friday. Glad to be alive. Alright I got Ethan sawing the last piece. We've got this whole thing sheeted up on this side. Those guys are wrapping up the fascia on the dormers. Friday night. We're glad that we're almost done. A lot of OSB. This is one fourth of the roof basically. Let's see if Ethan's piece fit. I took the measurements. It's the last one. A lot of triangles up here. It fits like a charm Ethan. Look at that. All the foam is sprayed everywhere. That's the overhang right there. So it doesn't need foam right there. A little cloudy today. It's about 4 35 o'clock. We're going to wrap up here shortly and head for home. Well we just got done wrapping up. We kind of cleaned up and we are getting ready to leave. Just had to give you one quick peek yet. The roof is mainly what we worked on all week and it's a great feeling to get that done. Wow it's going to be beautiful. Starting to look like a house now. Yep. Take a walk out the front door here. Got this front all looking snazzy. Got this fascia on up here long up in here. It makes it look so nice. Once we get our log railing along the bottom that's going to make it look really sharp. We'll be back next week and we got about a week and a half and I think we're going to be wrapped up. Just got done putting the last of the OSB on. Gotta look at that moon. So we just got done like I said putting all the OSB on and the guys started putting on this ice and water shield and tomorrow it's supposed to snow so we really wanted to get this covered but at least we got the OSB on and that's that's what's important. Well we're back again this morning and we're starting to put ice and water shield and finish titanium. It's not raining so hallelujah. We are thankful but just look at that beautiful sunrise. Oh the moon's going down behind me which is so cool as well. Yep very pretty morning. Gotta get this done. All right I got the boys and Brandon putting in railing. Starting to look good. So we're getting the outside of these windows trimmed. Getting the inside trimmed. Cleaning up and a couple odds and ends and we'll be wrapping up. Hey Ethan having fun? Yeah. So one of the nice perks about what we're doing is coming here to Symes Hot Springs every night and soaking in the hot tub. They've got like four pools of mineral water. It's pretty sweet. This one flows down to that one. There's a bigger one down there that's cold and they have a really hot one they call a lobster pot. So usually I don't go in that one. It's just too hot but we usually get about a half an hour soaking in before they close the pool after work so it's kind of nice. Okay last morning. Driving up to the house and this is gonna be the last time we pull up to the house like this. Anyways there it sits. We'll be coming back a little bit later to install a few more windows that aren't in. A few more pieces of things to do like put that railing section in and isn't that pretty though? Super nice. Snowed again last night. Glad we got that roof on. Okay ladies and gentlemen of the jury. Right there's our house and it's done. We're getting ready to pull out of here. I'll do one last go around and let you guys look at it but this has been quite a project. The guys did amazing and I'm so happy to get out of here. I loved it but I'm happy to be done. I always like to be done and move on to the next project. It's a good feeling. Everything's completed and let's go take a look around shall we? You can see it's on a daylight basement and you can see the garage back there with his Trump library right here which is pretty cool and you've got the railing. You've got the great room valley glass up there. You've got a daylight basement down here. You've got the two dormers up on top. Then you've got a 45 degree angle porch going around here. He will have stairs coming off the end right here and his little bathroom over here. It's a really really nice house and really nice design. Let's keep going around the front side. It's gonna be a great view from his bathroom window soaking in his copper tub. We're still gonna have to get our trailer out of here which could be a challenge. Load up a few more items here. One more look at this great room. Our monarch entry we call it. His log railing. He'll have steps right here. By the way you guys like our cooler? Keeps everything nice and cold or hot. We foamed it. All right we're in the living room area here. Again check it out way up there. He's got some really tall gables and here we've got the railing that covers protects the stair opening. Then we build him a stairway that goes down to the basement and in there's gonna be his bedroom. Turned out super nice. There's this copper tub that's gonna go in that little room and again that window little dormer is just so he can hang up like a maybe elk head or something like that hopefully sometime. Let's go check out like the kitchen area here. He's got a patio door going out into his deck from the kitchen and look at that view. Pretty hard to beat isn't it? So here he's got this kitchen area right here. An archway. I think there'll be like a wall in here with maybe some pantry space and this is his library on the inside here. I think around here this will be his doorway leading to his garage in his garage right here. Big two car garage. So there you have it. Pretty awesome.
