Mudroom Storage Entryway Makeover Spring Cleaning 2022 Small Room Organization Ideas 🌼
In this video, I am sharing with you how I turned a small flex room that came with our house into
a multi-purpose room to act as our mudroom, entryway, and storage area. So I'd like to
think of this project as our mudroom entryway makeover. The first thing we had to address in
our house was creating more storage. We don't have a large pantry closet, nor do we have a
house that has a linen closet, so we've just kind of had things wherever. Matter of fact,
let me show you the before really quickly of this room. It was a hot mess in here. I knew that we
needed a whole wall dedicated to storing things, basically building vertical as opposed to having
everything on the floor. When I came across these organizers, I immediately thought about stacking
them to create a floor-to-ceiling storage wall. I liked the cubes as well, so that way I could keep
pantry, toiletries, cleaning supplies, etc. separated. It is that official time to start
this mudroom makeover. All the stuff is in, at least the beginning stuff, the main stuff is in. I
still have to determine if there's other things that I'm going to buy, but I am loving how it's
coming together. The color scheme in here is going to be beautiful, and I really have to get started
on building this furniture because I know it's going to take a minute, especially the console table.
I was so happy when I found this console table because it provided just the right amount of
contrast that was needed for a space like this. Usually when decorating, it's good to consider
adding tension in your spaces so that way they don't fall flat. So for me, I used a stark black
in a very white room instead of opting for something softer in color, and this console is
also a really great price for the fact that it's five feet long, has drawers, and under storage.
I'm really glad that Studio McGee collaborated with Target to bring designer pieces to an
affordable price. I also had my eye on some other favorites too, which I'll link down below.
It's alive and all built and set up. It was actually not that bad to set up. I was a little worried,
but I should know that Target furniture is really never that hard to set up. So I'm loving the color
of the poles. I wasn't expecting them to look this age. I thought they would be brighter, but I
am totally fine with it. I absolutely love how they look, and it just feels really good. So I
can't wait to start setting it all up. If you do not have one of these light three-step stools,
I highly recommend it. We lived in our house for over two years without one, so we would use
chairs to stand on, and now that I have this, I just can't imagine going back to using
chairs. And it's just so light, so it's really useful. So I will definitely link that down below.
So my camera died, but the curtains are up, and I still have to steam them, so that way they're
not as wrinkly like they are right now. But I really love the linen look of these. I feel like
looks terrible right now, but I just feel like the quality is so good, and I love it. So yeah,
I think they'll look a lot better once they're steamed, and the curtain rods actually turned out
really good too. I like that color a lot, and the finials are very neat and go nicely with these
poles right here. Next, I have to hang the art, and I'm actually going to try to use thumbtacks
instead of nails, just because the art is really light. So I shouldn't have to do anything
too serious to the wall, and it's just easier. So I guess I'll try that now. In order for the art to
be hung properly, I do need to measure 60 inches from the floor, so that way it's eye level and
appropriate to where it should be on the wall. So for example, the middle of this should be at
60 inches from the wall. When I originally created the e-design for the smudge room makeover,
I planned on having the two art frames side by side, but as I was hanging them, I realized I
really like the staggered look. So I updated my e-design to reflect the change and added a frame,
so that way I could swap out the art by seasons, and I ended up feeling really happy with the
minute change. If you're interested in any printable frame art that is still stylish,
feel free to grab the Valentine's Day one that I featured here in the video
in the description, and then I can also send you more as I create them.
Okay, so now that I have steamed this curtain, I have yet to do this one. I realized, and I
totally forgot, that when you steam your curtains, it actually elongates the fibers of the curtain.
So now it's a little too long, and so, and I don't really want that look for this,
and so you can see this curtain, it hasn't been steamed yet, and it's, you know, basically barely
touching the floor, which is great, but of course I want to get the wrinkles out, so I am going to
steam it, and so I just played around with something up there to maybe see if I can raise up
the curtain, like, closer to the rod, so therefore it'll bring it off the floor some more,
and I think I figured it out. So the curtains are being hung by these poles, right? So I was like,
well, maybe I can, like, bring it closer to the rods at a hang. So instead of this one, you see
that the button used to be in this hole. Well, I created a new hole, so that way there's less space.
As you can see, there's a lot more space here, and so now it's closer to the rod, and it actually did
bring it up off the floor. So I just got finished organizing all the bins, at least to the best of
my abilities at this moment. They could definitely always change, but for now, they're in a pretty
good spot, and so I'm gonna go ahead and start labeling them, and plus I can use it for, like,
the rest of my house too, because lord knows the rest of it needs some organizing as well.
Okay, honestly, this was, like, the easiest thing ever. I didn't even have to read the instructions.
I just, like, basically put in batteries, put in the tape, and printed a label. It was really fun.
So that's all you do is just type it up, you hit print, and then it prints. I don't know why I'm so
fascinated, and then to cut it, all you do is press this button right here, and now I got my beautiful
little label.
