Five days, 30 blind stages.
The most epic week of my life, hands down.
This was unreal.
Thanks for following along, guys.
Welcome to day four.
Completely exhausted.
The German's fine.
I'm tired.
Eventually it was brutal.
We didn't get into like six, seven o'clock.
I don't even know.
Six stages today.
Supposed to be a little more mellow,
but nothing here is really too mellow.
Guess there's some machine built stuff.
Should be fun.
See you out there.
Day four, I'm tired.
He's not.
This is Bob.
Say hi, Bob.
Hello.
Bob lost his bike and was wicked late,
but now he's got his bike.
He's gonna ride it.
Yeah.
All right, tell me how you feel on day four.
My ass hurts.
Please don't swear.
It's YouTube.
Now it's tingling.
It's time to party.
Oh yeah, she's stiff.
One of the bike truck went missing,
so we're all waiting.
Looks like it just showed up.
Has arrived.
Top of stage one.
A little chilly.
Clouds, but no rain yet.
It's good.
This is Bob.
He's a German.
Get started.
What's up, man?
I love your bikini, man.
Good, man.
Good.
Yeah, today was a nice day.
Yeah.
The stage is amazing.
Yeah, cheers, man.
Obrigado.
Baby.
Cow, doot, doot, doot, doot, doot, doot.
Might see some cows on this trail.
It looks like mama and babies.
It's cow poop.
Cow poop everywhere.
I'm ready when you are, bud.
Yep.
Cheers.
Cheers, enjoy.
Day four, stage one.
Yeah, boy.
Race line.
Oh my God.
Ah!
What the?
That was crazy.
Nice.
Yeah.
Oh my God, I almost died.
There you go.
Yeah, boy!
Just looking right at us.
I almost went OTB.
He was like, get some.
Yeah!
You's never suck.
Oh no, I think that's like not the start.
Yeah, boy.
Ready when you are.
Cheers.
Ah!
All right.
Rocky start.
Wow.
God, everything is so icy.
On the hips.
Wow.
Easy.
So long.
My legs are so tired.
Oh!
This is sick.
Oh!
Come on.
100 meters.
Slick.
Hips.
Ah!
Yes.
Little slick in there, huh?
Ryan, your derailleur's gone, huh?
Dude.
Ryan had a big mechanical, tore his derailleur off
mid-stage in a pedally stage.
Trying to get it to work again,
but two stages and a bit out from the next mechanical spot.
Hopefully we can figure this out.
Last stage was sick, but long way to go.
Progress.
Got it back on.
Cramp's got a little damage,
but I hope we can get it spinning.
Robot derailleurs are wild.
Spins.
It shifts.
Jesus.
Wow.
Friggin' robots, bud.
That is nuts.
Ripped his derailleur off,
swapped the hanger,
frame's a little, puts it back on,
bend the chain back,
and it still shifts almost flawlessly.
Access might be worth it.
Peanut butter mud climbs.
It's a bit warm.
Woo.
Rain has stopped again.
Sun's out, gun's out.
Thing shifts like a friggin' dream.
Go figure.
Think we're dead last now.
Trying to catch back up to somebody
and hope there's a line,
because if not,
pretty sure they'll just abandon us.
So, we'll see.
So we're all just stuck,
waiting for stage three.
These guys went down and did an extra stage,
just for fun.
Got an extra thousand meters of climbing.
Guess some tape was down.
It happens.
We'll get back to it.
Yep.
Yeah.
Super fast.
Oh my God.
So slick.
It's a bit drier.
Big ruts.
Whoa.
Getting tired.
Whoa!
Come on.
That's Kate.
I think she's okay.
So tired.
Oh, almost over the bars.
Come on.
That was wild.
I hope I didn't run it over too bad.
No, you're good.
You're good.
By the end, there were so many oh sh** moments.
My hands were blown.
It got real greasy in the end.
Yeah.
Super fun.
Physical stage.
Smoked.
Slight ledge.
Wow.
Push up stage four.
Well, there's this guy.
Up here with our beautiful friend.
He looks really excited to see us.
Oh my goodness.
Oh, they're running across the trail.
Yeah boys!
Yee-hoo-hoo, boy!
You all right, bud?
Just a little bike park.
Oh my God, look at this.
Ready when you are, bud.
Can't get clipped back in.
Can't tell.
Whoa.
Way to hit the jump, boy.
Right here.
That was different.
Yeah.
Some dusty bike park stuff there.
Nice little gap.
How'd it go?
It was so fun.
Yeah.
A little snack break.
Another snack station.
This one's got a view.
Absolutely amazing.
Finished with a little bike park stage.
Big double in the middle of the cameraman.
Two more to go.
Snacks are done.
Shuttle up.
The last two stages of the day.
Not supposed to be technical,
but it looks steep and physical.
And it's pedal-y.
Like everything else.
Pedal-y.
Fell asleep on the bus.
Time to go ride two stages.
Crack.
Chicken line is on the right side.
I don't like chicken.
Welcome to line racing.
Yeah.
What's this, stage five, six, nine?
Good.
It's a good start.
Whoa.
Oh, this is.
Whoa.
That was horrifying.
Holy.
Okay.
Probably one of the scarier moments I've had
in the whole race.
Whoa.
Holy.
Whoa.
Yeah.
What?
Yeah.
Wow.
High line.
Yeah.
Oh my God.
Oh.
I think I broke something.
Whoa.
Me.
Do you see that pink tape in that launch?
I thought it was a gap.
I sent it so far to flat.
I've never hit so hard in my life.
I think I hit my mud guard.
One more to go.
Stage five turned out to,
even though it was a two out of five technical
and four out of five physical,
which usually means not scary, but pedaling,
turned out to be a straight downhill stage.
Blind gaps.
Probably the most scared I've been on a bike a long time.
Maybe I wasn't in the right mental space.
I don't know.
Wrong lines, but man, that was eye opening.
So hopefully the next one, if it's similar,
I'll be more prepared,
but we've got to climb the mountain first.
It's hard to describe how tired we are.
How hard this last climb is.
None of your muscles are working.
You just want to sleep.
If we sit down, we literally fall asleep.
Just keeps going.
One more day.
Last stage, day four.
It's supposed to be rowdy.
Open ridgeline.
It's going to be sick.
Fast start.
Whoa.
Oh, whoa.
Yeah.
Nice.
Yeah.
Yeah, boys.
So good.
So tired.
Nice.
There it is.
Yeah.
Holy hell.
Yeah, buddy.
That was so good.
I am so tired.
That was a good trail.
Hell yes.
Day four in the books.
This place is absolutely epic.
Madeira is amazing.
Little cliff vadas to finish the day.
This is like, no railing.
What?
Instead of removing the tree,
they just build a step out of it.
Oh, snacks.
There it is.
Camp number four.
Smaller day.
Still tired.
Full exhaustion.
We made it.
Eat, drink, swim.
Ran out of snacks.
We got our own.
Got 15 today.
Pretty stoked.
One more day of racing.
This place is fantastic.
Muito obrigado.
You're welcome.
So good.
Day four is flawed.
Trails got more similar to home,
more flowy, less technical.
Couple downhill runs at the end
definitely scared the crap out of me,
but overall a great day,
about 3,000 feet of climbing.
One more day to go before we head back.
