Hello everyone, welcome back to another Seawest Adventure.
And yes I'm in the van as you would have just seen. It's coming down. Terrible weather,
just how we like it. And I'm back at the original spot where I did the first
van camp video. Check out the view. So I've got a beautiful view of Kirikiri Beach down there.
Nice view of the west coast of Auckland. And look at the weather system. I've got the new
sleeping bag. I've got the new Naturehike Snowbird 2. That's a minus two sleeping bag.
Try it tonight. Organize some things in here. I'm having a ham, egg and cheese toasted sandwich for
dinner. Just a nice basic dinner. I need to tuck out somewhere out of the wind so the gas cooker
doesn't get cut out. It is so windy. Just tucked out of the wind here though. Too bad. Once that
rain comes though I'm going to have to move the other way. Got a beautiful view out here.
All right, what's for dinner? I am going to make myself a, I've got everything here prepped at
home. Egg, cheese and ham toasted sandwich on the gas cooker. So just a pretty simple
basic dinner tonight. And I've also got a bevy. The beverage for tonight is simply titled beer.
You would have seen me consume these in some of my other camping vids. So
I've got a couple of those as well. Nice and cold in the fridge. And I've also got,
I've also got a couple of kiwi fruit just for a bit of a light snack.
All right, so let me talk about this new sleeping bag. So I've got a little bit of
a deal going on with Naturehike. They've been sending me a few things and I give a bit of a
feature on my channel or a review. So this is the Snowbird 2 which is rated minus two.
It's super comfy, feels really good and I have actually already slept in it in zero degrees.
And it was so warm that I ended up just having it at my waistline. That's how good it was. It's
nice and puffy, lightweight and packs away small which is critical for when I'm doing some of my
bush trips. You need as much room as you can. Speaking of other new things, I just got this
light from a company. I can't even remember what they're called but it arrived last week. They
sent it to me. They gave me an email. So it's a USB-C chargeable with a built-in power bank
torch and it's super bright. I won't, I'll turn it on later, you'll see how it performs.
But it is super handy and the best thing about it, it's got these magnets so I can just go and
chuck that there and direct it down wherever I want in the van. So super handy for having it in
the van with the camping. Put it on a real low heat. All things first, grab our butter. Now I
forgot a bloody, I forgot the bloody knife. I always forget something. A pretty simple dinner,
all I'm doing is adding butter, soaking up the bread in the butter and then giving that a nice
fry nice and hot. What I'll do is I'll soak the bread on the plate. So the plan is, all I do is
I fry the eggs a bit, chuck them to the side, butter side down on my bread, fry that, chuck
the cheese in, chuck the ham on, chuck the egg back on and that's it. Fry the other side. Quick
and easy toasted sandwich. Kiwi sandwich it is. Plain and simple food here in New Zealand.
Ham, pre-sliced ham. Are we ready for the flip? There we go. It's going to be brown and crunchy,
just a tad burnt, down a bit. So we've got another wave of COVID here. COVID-19, this time it's much
much worse. We've been in a lockdown for nine weeks now. Reason being I haven't been able to
get out to do content because six or seven of those weeks we were in a level four lockdown,
which means you're only allowed to go to the chemist or the supermarket or whatever. You
can't visit people or anything. So I've been reduced to my back lawn as you would have seen.
I've done a camp in my back lawn and I've done a few other videos here and there, but not much.
So yeah, really slowed down, really slowed me down. I was going good with all the camping and that.
Anyway, I cannot wait to be out of lockdown so I can go and do my adventures as I please
in the places that I can go. I'm not even allowed into any council land because of a hazard. If
something happened to me you would have to get people to come out search and rescue.
Therefore they're risking themselves to COVID-19, which is understandable.
But I want to go and collab with other YouTubers. I want to be able to go visit places. So yeah,
there's going to be a bit of a delay in that kind of content, unfortunately. I've got the
sun in my face here. Turn this way. You can still see the rain out over here. It's moving in. It's
going to be here any minute. It's from Garage Project, simply titled Beer. A little bit foamed
up but it's nice and cold. Close the sandwich down. Cheers everyone. Thanks for joining me on
another van camp in the rain. Once you're in here, it's super cozy. I think I'm going to make a bit
of a backboard here because the pillows fall through the gap. I can push the center seat up. I'll do it soon.
Oh yeah, van camping. It's been a while. I've finally done it after three nights of failures
and interruptions from rude people. I'm out here. It's meant to be the last sort of three or four
hours since I've been here. It's been like one mil, two mils of rain. So in about an hour's time
we're due for six mil, a six mil downpour. So it should be pretty significant heavy rain for a
period of time anyway. But yeah, it's just a constant drizzle at the moment. I was hoping
for something a little bit more heavy. Pelting on the roof. That's all good.
Anyway, I'm going to have some time to myself. I'm going to go over the cameras, some of the
footage I've taken. Give the missus a bell. Let her know that I'm safe and well. And by then the sun
will well and truly be down. It'll be a little bit darker anyway. So we'll see you then.
All right, time for another beer. Well, as you can see, it's a bit darker now. I've got all the curtains
set up. Let me get comfy here. Just a sleeping bag. It can be a little bit difficult in the van. There's not a
lot of, you know, there's no standing up in this camper. It's pretty small, but it does the trick.
That new light of mine is going now, so it's bloody awesome. It's not super bright to look at. It doesn't
blow my eyes up. Right, cheers everyone. Another beer. I've been shaken on the way out here.
Metal gravel roads. Oh, cheers everyone. Another car camp. Another car camp in the rain.
That little fridge is great. So it's a, what's the brand? I think it's called a Waco.
A 12 volt fridge. What are the other specs? I can't think right now, but bloody good. It gets
it quite cold. Doesn't get to the point of freezing, but that's fine for, you know, butter,
milk, beer, water, whatever. So me and my partner have been on a trip down the country and
it came in super handy for all our food and everything. We spent a week on the road.
Oh yeah, really good little fridge.
That rain's a lot heavier now. Not super heavy, but consistent.
So it's 8.30, 8.30pm. I am going to get an early night tonight. I'm quite tired.
Had a busy day before I was coming out here doing this. So the beginning of the video was around,
around 6.30pm. So it was a pretty, pretty late start for a video, but I had to chase that rain.
Couldn't let the opportunity pass. It's been so difficult making content over the last two months,
three months. There's something about the sound of rain. Therapeutic. I just enjoy it. It's calm
and it's the same deal on the tent. You know, they've both got unique sounds. I think rain
on a tarpaulin tent I enjoy a bit more because it's more air-piercing. It's more loud, especially
if it's heavy rain. But you've got the comforts of the sealed, warm cabin here in a vehicle.
It is nice. This is a great beer. I really enjoy this one. A lot of the Garage Projects stuff,
I've yet to try much of their range. I've sort of stuck to three or four that I know.
I need to explore out. I think I might set up bed. I have got an audiobook, a podcast
saved onto my phone, but I do have reception here somehow. It is quite remote, but I've got
some sort of signal. There we go. A bit hard to get into in the van. I didn't open it right up
there. Man, it's super comfy though. Can't beat the duck down, feel of duck down. All right,
that's enough yapping from me. I'm going to wind down. I'm going to turn the light off.
I've got my podcast and a couple of movies saved on the phone as well. It's been a good day though.
Lots of rain, nice toasted sandwich, pretty simple dinner, a couple of babies, a couple of beers.
I'll be falling asleep to rain too. Seems to be getting quite heavy, but it is meant to drop off
as I set around 4 or 5am this morning. We may or we may not see rain in the morning.
With that said, see you all in the morning. I'll be up bright and early. Alarm set for 6.50am.
It's early for me anyway. I need some form of sleep in. I'm bloody exhausted from today's
early start. We'll see you in the morning. What's for a becky? Rolled oats, porridge with brown sugar
and sliced kiwi fruit and maybe a cup of coffee if I remembered to bring my sachets,
which I don't think I did. All righty, so we'll see you in the morning. Take care everyone.
Oh, good morning everyone. The rain seems to have lifted in the night.
But there's a quick fog. Check out this fog.
Probably can't see it much, but it's a fog. And we can now see the beach.
Great sleep. I had a sleeping bag. A really toasty warm, real good sleep.
They had this window creaked open. The fan didn't steam up quite last time it did,
or it made me get hot. It was really nice.
It's the sun. I'll turn up now for the hot sun. I'm going to get breakfast going.
Start packing up. Call it out before it gets busy, and it'll be a bit under that beautiful day.
Oh man, that's nice. All right, so I just got rolled oats. All you do,
boil some water, add it in, real easy. I've got some brown sugar to put on top.
And sliced some kiwi fruit as well, so that's going to be pretty.
Maybe just starting to rain actually.
The perfect amount of water. Getting good at the rolled oats.
That's an easy. If you cook them too much, they go too thick and gloopy,
and they're horrible to eat. Got to have a bit of moisture in them.
Far better with brown sugar in it.
So
just like that, the rain is back. All right everyone, I'm going to start packing the van up.
Defog the windows, chuck the curtains away, have a bit of a cleanup, and then I'll be out of here
because I've got a busy day today. I'm going fishing, off the kayak, trying to make another
video, and later in the week I'll be out in the bush, in the tent, in the rain. So more rain camping
coming, as well as more fishing, depending what you're after. I'm going to try balance it out a bit.
All right everyone, that's this trip done and dusted. It was a pretty brief one,
but I'm a busy man. I've got other adventures to take on. If you enjoyed this video, give it a
thumbs up, and if you haven't, make sure you click the subscribe button. I'll bring you more of the style
of camping. So with that said, we'll see you on the next one. Everyone stay safe, and we'll see you soon.
