I did a little experiment with the nails and watered them. So it's the same wood, chestnut
wood with high tannin. You can see this is steel. These are normal nails. This is a normal nail.
This is steel which is the hardened one but also you can see how much it rusts actually.
And you know when you hit it in and the water reacts with the steel and the wood and you get
a black stain. Now these are zinc. They're slightly different. I think one is a normal
nail and one is a steel hardened steel nail but they're both sort of shiny and have a layer on
top. And you can see it's less. And this is a screw you don't have it either. I watered this
overnight so it's just one day of corrosion basically. But you can even see when you hit
where you hit the hammer on the wood. Because the hammer is steel it already reacts right with the
tannin. It's interesting. But this is a lot better. So I've already replaced these ones.
I've reshaped them so they have a bit of a different color.
You still see it a bit there but I can sand it away. So that's the solution.
Is that a pen? Yes.
I've got my my tarp like two pins in the ground and then two tied to a tree so it's just like
leaning. Yeah the weather is nice so you're good. Yeah exactly. How are the stars at?
Stars are the same here.
Yeah but really dark because we're from the city. It's not so dark here. I mean
it's not. It's a bit humid right now. Yeah where we're from you can't see any sun because sometimes.
Not where I live. Really? I live in this big city. Life solution. Yeah it's probably less here.
But I mean I've cycled through South America you know where it's really dry.
Because the best stars we ever saw were in Chaco Canyon in New Mexico.
Middle of nowhere in New Mexico. That was also very dry. Yeah.
Yeah because you never made it out. The farthest you made it out east in the U.S. was like Utah
right? On that trip from Vancouver to. Yeah I've been in the on the east coast but that was like
more New York and Washington another time. I've never been in South Alabama. This is sounding
good. Something's happening there. I hear some sizzles. Yeah sizzles are good. My stomach's
rumbling. You can kind of give it a spin like that and then we'll spin backwards after that.
So you're originally from Amsterdam? Yeah south of the Netherlands. Yeah I've moved around the
Netherlands a few times and I ended up in Amsterdam. Yeah it's a nice city. Yeah we're
going there after this. Oh you're going there nice. Oh yeah we're going to be there. How long?
A week? Five days. Five days? Six days. Six days. There you go. But those taters are hot.
Oh my. I like that little wheeze there at the end. Yeah when do the. Yeah rotate them sometimes.
Yeah. First video and it sort of exploded around the sixth video.
Yeah. Which is very fast. Yeah. And it's such a. I mean because I make videos for my business
for pottery like something that's really popular. Most of the advice out there is like you know
shorter videos and all this stuff. Quick and snappy. Yeah but like your videos are like you
know 40-45 minutes. Beautiful and it just holds people the whole time just because it's
it's different. A new trend. Exactly. Of slowing down. Because there's so much content we're
being. It's like. It's being thrown at us on our phone right. It's Instagram is fast. TikTok is
even faster. People are getting sick. It's information fatigue. You cannot take in that
much you know stuff and you know when you can slow down and I'm hesitant to say escape into a video
but you know see something different than your life because like this is kind of the dream you
know. So at least the dream for a lot of people. People like me and all of us. Okay so you and I
we can kind of escape. Okay. You guys ready? Let's do it. Three, two, one. Oh easy.
Put a few rocks here so you can put it on top of there and the other one we're going to put
on top of there as well. Alex you swing to the left next to the bench. Are you guys out first
Careful of your hands. When it's on the rocks it's also easier to pick up again.
All right hands. Good. I like the rock thing. Don't crush your fingers.
Right. Nice. It's gonna be a nice shower.
Yep. Okay. You get that side? Yeah. I got it. That is a big rock. Don't hit the camera. Yeah I'm not.
We'll just leave it here for now. Yeah it's right there. Right there. That's beautiful.
Yeah it's heavy. Yeah. Yeah. Easy. You want to double team?
Oh he's a big man. Watch your noggin. We did. There's the stake right there.
Ours didn't collapse. Good. So is there like a sort of a bridge? Is there a big stone there?
Is there like a buff somewhere you're digging? I don't know. I haven't.
I mean if it's not falling down you're good. Yeah I don't think so.
How much longer is it going to take? They just they just want to they just want to.
Oh he's got potatoes for you. I think the dinner is ready right? Uh except for the
monkeys. Yeah. We'll also see if anybody's still hungry after all this time because if not we don't
I have a feeling that we can. How's the hole coming along?
How are you coming along? Feel like it's still stone huh? Yeah I think there's this
this one big stone right here. Yeah. I got under it on this side but like very shallowly
but I don't think on the other side it goes that deep. No so it's maybe just the outside part of
the wall. Yeah. Yeah it's it's gonna be easy. The two pipes down. Yeah. There's about two meters
and I'm gonna leave that there and fill the ditch.
Well actually it kind of needs to be in place because that's this one. Yeah.
Yeah on this side and on the other side. At the end of the tunnel.
Are um the bundles of smaller wood going down there or do you want us to inspect on here as
well? They go on the bottom there. Wow what's this? Is this like uh pipes or something? Yeah
just more tubing that popped out. Yeah it wasn't even really connected to anything. No that's uh
that's a deep gorge it's like that. But I'm assuming that on that side it's not gonna go
deeper than this. I'd say that too yeah. I'd hope so at least. Well we're not gonna get there anyway
so I think for today it's like good for you think about these. Yeah I'm gonna get this out.
That won't be so bad. Now we've got this out everything over here. Once I get that out this
should just kind of like come over. Yeah and then I just this little corner isn't it? Yeah and then
might be a little concrete in there but we can get that out too. And then this side um this rock
the other ones fell free from the concrete pretty easily so I don't see a problem with that. And then
that should be easy to break up. Right. If we don't get to too much of it today. Now this is what I'm
gonna leave. We're going to get this all this rubble out with all with all of us and then uh
then we're done. Yeah. Here. Very good. Great progress. I mean this is a deep hole. How did
you find the wall that you find the end of the wall that you didn't look at it at all?
The end of that wall? Yeah. At the bottom? Like the bottom that you find. Still haven't hit it. Yeah.
It's all stone. It's deeper. It's deeper huh? Yeah. The walls go pretty deep that's
that's a good thing. Yeah. It means I can dig deeper as well. Yeah. I can have a more head
space. It should be like um like the other side then they go like two feet down. Right. Beneath
beneath this level.
So with this stairs I'm coming out quite well with a 45 degree incline.
Basically how I've built that was kind of like gut feel. I didn't really measure it
but 45 degrees works out well and it makes it easier because I can use this tool
which is uh not like uh usually you'd use a tool which is longer and it has measurements which is
specifically used for stairs. I forgot the name of the tool. I don't have it and this makes it
slightly easier. At 45 degrees it makes sense. So I think what I've drawn up is going to work out.
I'm going to cut it and then see how it works and then it's simply just repeating this board
and the stairs are going to be resting on here. And I do five boards I believe that's
probably strong strong enough. Yeah that's good. So these are nice and straight.
Yeah most of them are. Some of them are a little crooked. Yeah no one's going to stand. So we can
cut down the stairs. And also if you took your sander. I think I have like a peeler. How do you
So um it needs to be aesthetically looking good. So the straight ones are good. Yeah let me just
see how that how high they need to be. You know because here they need to be quite low.
Hey perfect timing. Good job bud.
I kind of want to try the newer one.
We cheers but we don't touch. We don't touch. It's just so pretty.
See that like all the way out there. Oh wow. That's Bondolino. That's the first one.
There's something. I think it's a sign. Is that a sign or a tree?
