New Woodcarving Toy! First Look and Go with a Clogmaker's Stock Knife from Ukraine

Hey guys, wasn't gonna give you a video this week. I'm packing my bags and flying the coop as they say, but today Package came in the mail. So I thought instead of giving me nothing I'll give you something if you listen to the uh podcast that Alec and I do you've heard me talk about This order and uh, this is something that i've wanted for a while Don't really know what i'm gonna do with it exactly But uh had to have one first time I saw one was a I think it was jojo wood Robin wood's daughter and she is a clog maker And uh, it's a clog making tool. It's a stock tool. This one's a little bit smaller, but uh, I just had to have one and uh So I bought one This tool actually comes from the ukraine I've ordered uh, lots of uh forge tools from the ukraine through etsy and this is from uh, kirkive So the kirkive forge on etsy has made me quite a few things. But uh, let's just start digging into this See what we got She's bundled up pretty good knife i'm using for this opening is a helby of course I'm, very excited about this. I should note that uh, when you do order something from kirkive in the ukraine It doesn't come overnight. It was a long process probably a couple months coming Hello, thank you for your order look at this So, like I said, this is called a stock knife this is A little eye screw that you put into your uh to your wood And this is how you this is creates the hinge for your tool, which is the hook Nice leather sheath. I don't know if I was even expecting that. Oh my goodness Yeah, let me do that right let's try that again let's go find we can go Look at that Thanks train. Hello train Nice wood handle so look at that that is a uh, It's an eight inch uh Eight inch blade which is was I never know 20 20 centimeters. All right big handle for leverage Like I said, I hook Cutting action so give me a minute actually, let's do some uh, let's do a fun little uh Little b-roll clip of this thing and then i'll have it set up in something and we'll uh slice some wood we'll uh set up here for for quick Quick little display or a trial run. Uh, you can see I just put that eye hook in the uh, two by six here And I take my little blade Put her in there like that So it's a chopper This is a lot of play in here that just means so you can you can turn it sideways and go down sideways go to angle All right, he's got the little stick here let's give her a few trial runs here Oh my goodness that handle just gives me such leverage on there I have to learn I have to learn a lot but I really have to learn how to uh, How to use this properly I'm just going straight down right now Go straight up That end grain Huh That's cool that has so much leverage with that handle like I said, I just gotta get used to uh Knowing where to have the hook when I cut things I brought an extra little piece I thought I was gonna need something for more leverage No You know what i'm getting greedy i'm getting greedy Come on cool, let's say I just have a piece of basswood here. I just want to take the uh, Put it on the ends out here Fun fun fun I'm amazed at that cutting ability right down the end grain just taking slices off the end We don't need no stinking saw Wow Anyway, like I said Going to angle I just have to learn how to set up some blocks I would put those stop blocks here or there or wherever to get these angle cuts So you just put something up against it, you know I'm pulling it Fun fun fun super fun Wow I like it What am I gonna do with it? I don't know. Do you need one? No, you don't You want one? I bet you do anyway Just a real quick look. Like I said, I have zero experience. This is Well, you've seen all my experience with this thing. So there's gonna be lots of little tricks and tips I'm gonna learn where it's gonna end up. I don't know but uh boy I am not disappointed at all What a fun fun little tool Look at that Come on That is amazing so happy There you go. Quick. I know there's different style shapes and configurations for different different uses but you know some form of what I just did is probably what i'm going to be doing and just for quick carving and Like more maybe some green wood carving and whatnot.
