Step Inside This New Southern Sorority House - Southern Living.
Construction for the house started last spring. It's been very exciting. The first level is the
dining area, living area, and the 1872 room. We were founded in 1872 and so that room has
kind of a formal setting there for you know special guests and stuff like our international
president or the chancellor of the university. I think that room is so cool. Downstairs my
favorite area is definitely the dining area. It's really neat to look at and I can't wait to see
our whole chapter eating together. Our chef, Ashley, he's awesome. He loves like the free
reign he has. He loves the girls getting to meet them. We're having like an Italian feast for our
first meal. Super excited about it. The second and third floor, those are just dorm areas kind of.
That's where all the bedrooms are. This artist took our symbols and integrated them in all the
pieces throughout the house. So if you walk through the house, there's an ivy leaf here, there's a
lily of the valley here, and it's very subtle but it's very alpha fee. Older members get to choose
what they want to live in and then we open it up to the younger members. A lot of girls, it's a lot
of tradition. Like their moms are in sororities and their grandmas are in sororities and definitely
at Ole Miss, it's a very family unit type of thing. It's definitely campus culture at Ole Miss
to get with your roommate, get matching pillows, get matching comforters. Everything's matching
with your monograms. They've been preparing for probably three, four months now. Honestly,
I don't know what to expect living with 54 girls. We'll for sure have movie nights. We have
sisterhood nights. Watch Game of Thrones. We all love Game of Thrones or The Bachelorette.
Just being able to walk down the hall and see your sister that, you know, we couldn't do that
last year. It's my first night there last night and it felt just like home already.
