Going to INDIA for the FIRST TIME! (almost missed flight…) — with @Nomad Shubham and @yatri doctor
When you have a lot of money, you don't care about tickets.
Okay, man. Bye-bye.
Okay, man. See you.
Have a nice trip.
Enjoy, Gora.
Gora, Gora, Gora.
Gora, have a nice trip.
Thank you, bye.
Okay, I'll text.
They're just going to wait for me to make sure that I actually do get on.
Because if I miss the flight, I'm going to go back home.
But today we're going to India for the very first time.
It's a fun adventure.
Okay, I really do have to go run and go check in.
That was extraordinarily, extraordinarily stressful.
I'll explain in just a sec.
Stressful, stressful, stressful.
Okay, so basically what happened is that when I got to the gate,
they told me that, apparently for my visa, there's like five different problems.
One from a denied visa in the past,
to, they said that I needed, since it's a single-entry visa,
to India, that I needed a return ticket.
And...
Hi.
You too.
I want a train too.
Three minutes? Okay.
So, they said that they needed the return ticket as well.
These guys are fighting over something.
That's so confusing.
So, what happened is that they told me that I need the return ticket.
I didn't have it.
And the gate was closing in literally eight minutes.
And so I was trying to call Shubham as quick as I could.
And I was calling Yatri Doctor.
I was calling Navankar and Dupanchu.
I was, of course, outside the airport trying to all figure it out at the same time.
I'm sorry I'm speaking so fast.
I'm so, so rushed in my head.
I still haven't made it to the plane yet.
Who knows? I still miss it, maybe.
And we're all trying to get it as quick as possible.
We're waiting for the OTP.
Or they couldn't get the ticket,
so they ended up going to a different airline to try and get it.
They didn't need my passport info.
Oh my god, it was such a headache.
And then the time came when the gate closed.
And they said, you know, sorry, we can't give it to you.
It was a nice Indian guy, but he said we can't give it to you.
So I was trying to convince him, please,
baisahab, baisahab, five minutes, five minutes, please.
He was nice enough.
He let it wait.
And we kept trying to push it, push it, push it.
Five minutes came.
Five minutes went.
I still didn't have the ticket.
Shubham and Navankar are trying to do it as quick as possible.
And then it came literally down to the last second.
Okay, the train is here now.
It came down to literally the last second.
Hello, train.
Down to the last second.
And then the guy said, okay, the gate has to close right now because we need to go.
And he was literally, I'm not even kidding,
he was just about to start ripping the ticket.
And then Shubham said, okay, I got the ticket.
I got the ticket.
I gave it.
He checked it out.
He said, okay, go, run.
So let's run now.
I just realized the next gate actually closes in like seven minutes.
More running, more running.
We made it.
Literally just in the nick of time.
We're boarding like the last eight people or so.
Final call, final call.
But before I board, I'll let these people get on.
I like being the last one on the plane.
I want to note over there.
Take a look over in the distance behind the Saudi airplanes.
There's four of the Airbus A380s.
Those are the double-decker planes, the Emirati planes.
Those are the last ones in existence.
They just delivered the last one to Emirates.
I've never flown them.
I really, really want to fly one.
I really want to fly one.
Okay, I need to board.
Okay, let's go.
Thank you.
So I never exactly explained what the route is for today.
As you might be able to see on the plane right there, that flag, that's the flag of Kuwait.
The flight plan is from Dubai to Kuwait, and then Kuwait to New Delhi.
We'll arrive early in the middle of the night, but let's go.
I really, really honestly cannot believe that I made it on this flight.
This is, honestly, I've taken hundreds of flights.
This is, I think, the closest flight I've ever been.
Because they were literally about to rip the ticket before I got the ticket just in time.
Okay, but we're going to India.
Let's go, let's go.
I'm excited.
I've arrived here in Kuwait with something really interesting.
So, behind me, you see this whole area.
This is the only area I'm allowed to go to.
Just a big circular area.
At least I get to look outside the windows.
I mean, I'll be here until 3 a.m. or something.
See all the other planes and wish that I were on the outside.
So I'm not allowed to enter Kuwait right now.
They're still closed with some COVID stuff.
And so then the connection flight to get to Delhi, we're not even allowed to go to the rest of the airport.
No food, none of this kind of stuff.
And so then we're just stuck all in this waiting area.
But everybody else that's waiting here is all waiting to go to Chennai or they're waiting to go to Delhi.
So it feels like little India already.
I just want to talk about something really, really kind that just happened.
So we were sitting here for about five hours.
They were actually kind enough to bring us food for Jazeera.
I just had one just a little bit ago.
It's just like the very basic food that I think they're like actually required by law to give you.
But there's no drinks or anything.
I think there's a water fountain maybe in the bathroom.
So I was going to go find a vending machine.
There is one vending machine.
I had to actually like technically leave the area back to the arrivals and go past the COVID people.
And I found one vending machine.
The problem is the vending machines here do not take card, which I do not understand because this is Kuwait.
It should be very modern.
Anyway, so I was looking around and I ran into a security officer.
And I was asking the security guy.
He doesn't speak any English.
I was just asking, can I, is there like vending machine like Coca-Cola card?
And I'm showing him a card.
So he understands, puts two and two together.
And he's all, no, no, no, I don't have.
And then he was telling me like maybe ATM, I think, or like, I don't know.
But I couldn't find an ATM.
And so I was just thinking, okay, it's fine.
Anyway, so then as I'm on my way back, I was looking around.
When I'm on my way back, I run into him again.
And this time he's with one of his friends and another one of the military guys.
And this is really small things that make me really happy.
And one of the best things about traveling is that this police officer, then he tells his buddy like,
he basically said, I'm assuming in Arabic that like, do you have any extra spare change?
And so his buddy was going through his wallet then.
And he had given me a half and a one third Kuwaiti currency.
This is what the currency looks like.
It's actually really strong.
This is like the equivalent of a little bit over one US dollar.
It's about three and a half.
Yeah, three and a half US dollar to one Kuwaiti dinar.
I think it's a dinar.
Anyway, so he got his friend to give me like a full dinar.
No, he gave me a third and a half dinar.
And so then I was able to go to the vending machine and got a drink.
That really is the kindness of local people that you run into.
And it actually makes me really happy about Kuwait because it's easy to have a bad experience.
Okay, you're stuck in an airport.
You know, there's no like restaurant, you know, and like all these kinds of things.
But the people are very nice.
And the people will give you their own money to make sure that you're comfortable.
So Kuwait, you're good in my book.
Very nice.
Thank you, Kuwait.
We're about four and a half hours later or something.
So it's past midnight now, I think.
I don't even really know what time it is.
But there was a big rush of people.
Everybody all got up and started running towards the door.
So I can only assume that that's for deli.
Hey.
Huh?
Huh? Video? Okay.
5 a.m.
Arrived here in India.
You know, I have to say the first thing that I feel is that it's like the smell.
It reminds me a lot of being back in like Southeast Asia.
The smell like when you arrive in Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia.
It smells like this.
It smells like humidity in the air.
And it smells like...
I don't know how to describe it.
It smells like very nice.
It's very separate.
I think smells are something really interesting when you travel to other countries.
For example, one of the best smelling countries I've been to is like Israel.
Getting off the plane right away and it's just like...
Whoa.
That's really, really interesting.
Because it's just so different.
You never smelled that land before.
Anyway, I've actually lied before that I have been to India one other time.
But it was 3 or 4 years ago or something.
And I was just connecting through Kolkata.
So I arrived again on that one at like 4 a.m. on Indigo.
I arrived at the airport at like 4 a.m.
And then I had biryani.
I got horrible food poisoning.
So that's my only memory of ever being in India.
So I'm getting flashbacks of this.
Arriving here late at night.
I'm thinking I'm gonna get food poisoning again.
Eating some bad biryani.
So no biryani.
I should be okay.
Okay, they're checking COVID stuff.
I gotta run.
I'll catch you in a bit.
Okay, so we made it to immigration and everything.
Shubham was supposed to meet me on the other side.
But he just called me that he's running an hour late at 6 a.m.
This is classic Shubham.
So I'm just gonna go outside and wait for him.
But as I was going through the immigration,
it was actually...
It was kind of a pain.
But it went through.
It was okay.
Okay, we're gonna go through the exit.
I don't need to quarantine since I came from the United Arab Emirates.
I was in UAE for strategically at least 14 days.
So there's no quarantine.
Okay, let's go.
Okay, so I'm waiting over the metro gate.
Waiting for the illustrious Shubham Manavankar to come.
The yachtry doctor.
Who knows?
Will they come? Will they come?
So far, it's been good.
It's good out of the gate.
Of course, there's the taxi people.
But a really nice guy from Punjab that just walked me over here.
He just told me, okay, this is where your friend will come.
Indians are good people.
Good morning.
It feels like night.
Even he's not awake.
I wake up in two hours because you're calling me all the night.
I'm not gonna say it.
I'm not gonna say the bad words.
We got the good old yachtry doctor that came to pick us up.
It is the yachtry doctor.
I'll link his channel.
He's a new YouTuber.
I want him to get more subscribers.
Thank you for supporting me.
And make sure to leave a like and a comment.
And say that you are from Brayden's channel.
I discovered you from Brayden's channel.
I have no idea what we're gonna do.
We're just looking for some chai right now.
Everything is closed.
Because it's like 6 a.m. still.
Okay, that's gonna wrap it up.
I'll catch you later from here in India.
Okay, bye.
Bye.
Bye bye.
Goodbye.
