I’m just gonna go ahead and say it. You’re paying too much in car insurance. And many of us don’t take the time to actually research which company is going to give you an affordable premium for the coverage you want.
Gabi (now called Experian Auto Insurance) is a car insurance comparison tool that helps you save money on car insurance and more. I’m going to dive into the Gabi app today to show you if it can really save you money.

I hate to start off the video this way, but you're paying too much in car insurance.
Hey guys, welcome back to Debt Free Millennials. It's your boy Justine.
Hey guys, it's Justine with Debt Free Millennials, the channel to help you
crush debt and live a debt-free life. We're going to be talking about Gabi. What is Gabi?
Gabi is a tool that compares multiple car insurance quotes across different companies
to help you get the best deal. Now, I know that a lot of you are overpaying in car insurance
because you just told me. Someone says, I pay $216 a month for insurance on a financed 2015
Chevy Malibu. Someone else says, one recent at-fault accident, she pays $190 per month for
another $140 a month, $108 a month for a 2002 Subaru. I want to let you in on a secret. I pay
$64 a month for my 2015 Subaru Forester, and that's for full comprehensive coverage.
If you don't know what comprehensive coverage means, check out my car insurance video. I will
link to it in the description below that tells you exactly how to figure out how much insurance
you need. Today, we're going to be diving into Gabi specifically, which helped me figure out
if I was getting a good deal on my car insurance. I have my car insurance currently with Progressive,
and I always want to take a look every six months when my premium is due whether or not I'm getting
a good deal. Gabi is an online tool in which you can upload your policy directly into their website,
give them a bit of personal information, and then let them do the comparison shopping for you. Gabi
also compares other insurance policies such as homeowner's insurance, renter's insurance. They
have RVs, motorcycles, earthquakes, floods, you name it. All of those policies can be uploaded
into Gabi, and then they will do comparison shopping for you. And if you have a bundled
policy such as we have renters and car insurance with Progressive, you can upload both of those
policies into a bundle, and then they will comparison shop for you based upon that bundled
price. Let's go ahead and hop into Gabi's dashboard, and I'm going to walk you through
exactly how this works from start to finish. Okay, what you are going to do is you are going to log
onto Gabi.com using the link below, and this is where you are going to figure out how much you can
save in car insurance. So first, you've got to select your current auto insurance company,
and they make it really easy. You can search here. I'm going to search for Progressive,
next step, and then you're going to input some of your personal information. So I'll go ahead and
add that. Then it's going to ask for your birth date and your home address. All right,
how'd you hear about us? Next step. Then you're going to input your email address
and your phone number. I really like Gabi because they are really good at making sure everything
stays secure and private. Okay, once you get inside of the dashboard, you should be prompted
to add a policy. If not, you can click here in the upper right corner and add a policy,
and then select from the dropdown menu exactly what you want. And what I like about Gabi is it
does have a variety of insurance types that they can compare against. So I've already done this
for my auto and renter's policy, and you can see that I'm paying $762 a year plus $145 a year for
renter's insurance. So an annual total of $907 for my bundled insurance policy. And then once
you add all of your drivers, we have one car and one apartment and then two drivers, Kyle and I.
Once you add all of that, then they'll see, okay, this is what you have in your insurance coverage
because you have to upload a PDF of your coverage from your current insurance company in order for
them to do the comparison correctly. Down at the bottom, you'll see the top quotes and you'll see
that Clear Cover, Kemper, Lemonade, Safeco, Travelers, Allstate is listed here at a $723
increase, including that multi-policy discount and Nationwide. So all of these are way more
expensive than my current policy. And they've been very honest in saying that there's no
additional savings found. And you even get a text message saying that somebody has reviewed your
policy from Gabi and that you're currently getting the best deal, or you're currently paying way too
much for car insurance and they found a better deal for you. So some quick simple steps to help
you get started with Gabi is step number one, sign up inside of the Gabi platform. I will drop my
affiliate link below for you to sign up. Step number two is go inside your current car insurance
policy, go online, download your policy coverage in a PDF form. And then step number three, you're
going to upload it into Gabi so they can do the comparison shopping for you. You're going to get a
text message if you've opted into that, or at the very least an email the next business day
telling you whether or not you have a good deal or if you're overpaying for car insurance. Now
here's what I really like about Gabi is I didn't have to get on the phone with any of their people
or doing this by myself and getting on the phone with multiple insurance agents trying to do this
myself. It saved me a ton of time. Also when you try to do this on your own, going directly to
places like Geico or Allstate, they're going to ask for all of your information up front, which
means you're susceptible to more marketing campaigns, more emails, more direct mail. Just don't do it.
The second thing I like about Gabi is the dashboard is easy to understand. In fact, you can
access this from your phone, you can access it from your computer, and the steps were really easy
to follow. I didn't feel like they bogged me down with a whole bunch of unnecessary information.
Also a very cool feature that is millennial friendly is that they sent me a text message
telling me that I was still getting a good deal on my current policy. And finally, it only took
one business day to figure out whether or not I was getting a good deal on my car insurance. It
saves you a ton of time and I didn't have to worry about whether or not I was dealing with a pushy
salesman. Now while Gabi does save you time and looking up multiple car insurance quotes, there
are some drawbacks. So for instance, when I was going through that list of results, I didn't see
other big car insurance players like Geico or State Farm listed on that results page. So it
almost makes me wonder if Gabi has certain affiliations with certain car insurance companies
where they're getting a kickback from that and if they haven't done that with people like State Farm
or Geico. So it seems like you would have to do a little bit more information if you wanted to be
completely thorough with your research on car insurance. Or maybe they're just too too dang
expensive. Geico and State Farm just too dang expensive. They didn't even show up on the search
results. Okay, another drawback about Gabi that I'm kind of taking pause with is that Kyle and I
only have one car. I work from home so it didn't make sense for us to have two vehicles.
Which also leads me to I'm curious about pay per mile car insurance and I didn't see pay per mile
car insurance formats from Gabi listed in that end results page. So it makes me wonder if I need
to look outside of Gabi to see what that comparison would be between what I have with Progressive and
what I could have with something like Metro Mile. So that was another drawback that I saw with Gabi.
Obviously your premium amount is going to vary based on location, age, driving history,
the number of accidents. Holy cow guys, I almost witnessed an accident last night. It was crazy.
These California drivers are nutty. So all of those things come into play. Also if you have
multiple cars under one policy, obviously your premium is going to be a lot higher than mine.
But you want to make sure that every time that your premium comes up, at least once a year,
you need to be checking to make sure that you are still getting the best deal. I notice Progressive
has increased their premium amount for us over the past two years and we've driven this exact
same car. We've had no driving accidents, no tickets, no nothing. And so now I need to go
back in and use Gabi to make sure that I'm getting the absolute best deal. And according to them,
I still am. Okay, so the easiest way that you can save money by digging into your budget and putting
that car insurance savings back towards your debt, back towards things that you actually want to
spend money on, is using Gabi. Use that comparison tool. It literally takes two minutes to make an
account, upload your policy, and spit out the results. Again, you've got to be using these
things. I think car insurance is one of those things that as a millennial, I just kind of
followed what my parents did and I didn't really take the time to figure out what it meant.
And once I did, holy cow, game changer. Now I've gotten my policy down to $64 a month on one car.
So check it out. Let me know what type of savings you've earned by commenting below.
