The Summer Lemon Kitchen | Lemon Decor, Lemon Cleaner, Lemon Everything! Calming Vlog

Hello, it's Becca, and welcome to The Carriage House, a little place to find cozy inspiration for your hearth and home. It's all about lemons today in my kitchen at our little farmhouse on the northern plains of Iowa. I just lit a lemongrass scented candle that I recently bought on sale at HomeGoods just to lighten the air and the mood a bit. And I already have this kitchen decorated with a little bit of lemon decor, but since I don't leave my house all that much, I decided to get out of our home for a little while this past week while my husband and older kids watched the little ones. And it was nice enjoying the drive into town and do a little shopping for a change. But in addition to lemon decor, I'm also going to be making homestyle lemonade, sweet lemon drop cookies, I'm going to be making a lemon balm all-purpose cleaner, just a little bit of all-over lemon aromatherapy, so to speak. But first, I'm going to decorate. And I know I could just use bottled lemon juice, but there's something about using fresh lemons and going through the whole process of squeezing them, smelling the scent of them, and enjoying the whole process. It helps remind us to slow down and appreciate the good old days. And I never make a simple syrup or anything because that would involve heating up the stove and the kitchen's already pretty warm from the essence of summer seeping through from outside. Plus I'll be making those cookies after this. So I just mix the sugar and lemon juice together first and then add water so everything will dissolve well. And we'll leave our recipe down below.
