Is This the PERFECT BLUEWATER Cruising Catamaran [Full Tour] Learning the Lines
What's up everybody we just got back from Fort Lauderdale and boy do we have
an awesome catamaran to show you. We also wanted to briefly mention that
we've noticed we have a lot more viewers but not necessarily a lot more
subscribers so if you haven't already go ahead and hit that subscribe button it
would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys subscribing to the channel
helps us a lot and let's get to the tour.
Hi this is Jim Ross, yacht broker with Just Catamarans. I want to introduce a boat
we have for sale. It's a 2010 St. Francis 50 footer. She's one of the most capable
blue water sailing catamarans on the market today.
So I hope you enjoy the tour. All right Randy first thoughts.
Oh it's a massive ship. It's beautiful. So far from what we've
seen I've taken a peek inside the salon. The cockpit is very nice
but we'll show you those things in a second. We're going to get started on the
deck. All right so moving forward I'm noticing
very wide side deck so easy movement. I also notice that this hard bimini has
handrails along it which is really good for moving along a deck.
I see jack lines already. I've seen a lot of safety features that I'm going to try
to point out. Again handrails extending on the cabin
top.
You know this is something we used to point out all the time and I just
realized we haven't been pointing out. It has
exterior chain plates so it's easy to inspect.
Large side decks also allow you to have large hatches if you ever need to get
out of those but also excellent ventilation.
I'm seeing just on this side deck there's four here so
definitely a lot of ventilation there because again
these large side decks you have room to store things that are fun like your
kayaks or your stand-up paddle boards and things like that
which is a great feature to have more room is always nice. Yeah and that's not
in the way at all right there. I was curious about this
front hatch if this would be to a bow locker or if it would go inside the
cabin and it looks like it goes inside the cabin. I'm going
to show you what's in there later it's kind of cool.
You do have bow seats up here like the dolphin seats. I also noticed there's
seats in the back as well along the side deck. Up front you have two
large trampolines and a really neat feature here this actually
folds down into the water and becomes a ladder.
Yeah so it folds down right there so you have another ladder
on the bow so we have an electric furler for the genoa right there.
It looks like this is a secondary bow roller because the actual anchor is
down there. It also looks like there is a pop out little
pole right there for a spinnaker. Looking aft
gonna give you an idea of what this very large foredeck looks like.
So on this side this is a bow locker. I don't know if you can kind of see through
it. Looks like there is some some toys down
there maybe a dive compressor or something but it's
it's locked so i think we can get to it from the inside so we'll show you that
in a little bit too. While we're up here i'm just going to
point out there is a fill for diesel and i noticed while i was walking on
the exterior of the boat the water fill and the waste out is
actually like on the side of the hull which i thought was interesting. More
jack lines already rigged up. There must be a lot of
diesel tanks on here because that's a diesel fill
and this is a diesel fill and this is a diesel fill.
Yeah so i wonder how many tanks there are. Multiple tanks probably we have
multiple diesels i guarantee you there's two diesels on a
generator on this boat. All right and then we've got some
lockers here. Hard to tell how big it is. Yeah full sail
locker there it looks pretty big. Chain locker in the middle. So just
forward of the chain locker there is also a
interstay for a staysail. I always like that feature
on any cruising boat. We've got another sail locker up here
packed to the brim with stuff. All right above the cabin you can obviously
access pretty easily. We've got an in boom furler which is very nice
and then all the line angles look like they're
they're not very sharp so it'll look like they go back to
the cockpit which is great. Looks like there's
lots of electronics up there. We got a radar
probably some type of satellite some lights looks like there's some
some loud speakers but yeah lots of stuff up there. Just getting a better
view of the boom and everything for you guys.
Looks like there's more horns or speakers right there.
Got all kinds of just like internet different instruments i mean i don't
even know what all these instruments are so
going up onto the coach roof. A little detail that i always appreciate
on the top here we have rub rails for your lines
to help prevent chafing which i think is a great idea. Yeah the maverick does that too.
And then we have bucket loads of solar. Yeah tons of solar. How much would you
estimate? Don't quote me on this but i would say
maybe one and a half kilowatts. All right i'm
noticing two of these big windows for the cockpit area actually
open which would be really nice on like hot days to like
let the breeze in while you're in the cockpit and open up that area a little
bit that's really nice because these are big.
Definitely. Let's go aft and check out that cockpit. Absolutely.
Another kayak on the port side. And the last one we had
toured had like two side decks so this one actually does two because you can do
the big one on this one's a lot better than our last boat. These are the little
seats i was talking about in the aft there's one on each
side then obviously you have your sugar scoops
but would we like to do the cockpit or the sugar scoops first? Let's do sugar
scoops and then the cockpit. So this is actually a little tricky i will mention
that because there's a there's a port here that has a blinder
that you don't step on but you've got a nice little handle here
and you just kind of swing over to this step over here. This transition is
definitely not the most elegant. I did notice this earlier i thought this
was cool how deep these go oh it's hard to see on
this side maybe we'll show the other side.
These lockers are very deep they actually they look like they fill the
whole length right there so you can store long things. We've got
your dinghy back here it's actually sitting on the deck right now there's
like a teak deck extension i don't know if
it's considered an extension it's probably part of the original boat
but it's sitting up there the davits do come out more
so that they're over the water instead of over the deck but it allows you to
easily put your boat up on deck out of the way which is nice.
We've got a large sugar scoop pretty big you can see it extends pretty
far aft and you can easily get on and off the dinghy from them.
You've got two mechanical compartments one on each side
looks like that might be a generator or something or maybe part of the diesel on
this side and then going down in you've got more
technical storage and just technical area.
Walking from the port side to the starboard side you've got this little
compartment right here looks like we've got dive tanks so i'm
guessing that was a dive compressor i saw earlier
lines this is that really deep compartment here
you guys can see that it was really deep yeah perfect place for long things like
brushes i'm on a starboard sugar scoop and we've
got the other technical compartment right here it looks
like you got your water maker
access to other systems so you enter the cockpit
mid ships right here i'm looking forward
you've got randy you have your captain's area
to starboard side with some additional seating
here's your helm station and then on the port side you have more of like a
sitting eating area we've got all the lines coming back
on big winches winches there and then let's look at the helm station
so i would consider this a fully loaded helm station you've got dual bng
big displays bng electronics wind instruments
there's your emr diesel engines right there engine panels
you've got more lines and then most importantly in my mind
really really good visibility and really good protection underneath
this coach roof what do you think i like that it's a very good setup and as a
short person i would note the adjustable leg thing under you
oh okay let me look at that as you're sitting up here at the helm station
you've got these adjustable places to put your feet
so it's a very comfortable situation right there and it looks like it's big
enough for two people i noticed the little things i can't help
we also have the life raft below the captain's chair
eperb easily accessible as well as a man overboard rescue system a throwable
they really went top notch with their safety equipment which is great because
this is an ocean crossing vessel and if you're planning on crossing oceans you
want to emphasize safety for sure there's even i noticed it looks like
something can be added here to keep people in the cockpit which is a
good feature i think as well got a big locker right there kind of
looks like a nice chest too we've got more lockers right here
randy's opening up the other locker wow that's big yeah yeah just
storage for days and then the fisherman in me
really likes these two storage compartments down
on the cockpit sole because they look like they would be perfect
as fish boxes i don't know if they're insulated or not but
throw a bunch of ice in here throw some fish in there
that is a good good fish box the same on both sides
wet storage it looks like it has a drain which is nice
all right randy you ready to go inside yes if you're jordan beware
there's a step down i am just gonna let this
saloon speak for itself for a few moments here
my god let's start with the galley uh okay it starts kind of right as soon as
you enter so you have a refrigerator here and an
ice maker there jordan already joked that the ice maker is specifically for
the fishbowl yeah so once you make ice it goes right
in the fish box there is a little awkward step up i'm
sure there's probably a reason for it into the galley but just
to be aware of if you're in here looks like there's tons of storage
something that i do appreciate about how they did the storage in this boat
is that even though you have upper cabinets they worked those in and still
allowed you a window here which seems silly but when you're
cooking and things it's nice to be able to see what's going on in the cockpit
yeah definitely so you've got your uh range and oven
it looks like this is a dishwasher yes yeah that's a dishwasher
dishwasher a dual-sided sink microwave tons of storage everywhere it looks
like you've got trash here so it's probably
just an empty or trash can um that's pretty much it for the
galley but i really like the shape it's super secure i mean i know you're not
really unless you're going this way it's not
necessary but it's always nice to have handholds in a boat in my opinion
definitely and you guys are going to probably notice or you might have
already noticed the owners definitely liked bamboo it seems like
pretty much all of the wood finishing is is bamboo yes
so forward of the galley you have a dual person
nav station now i know a lot of people say you don't need a nav station jordan
and i actually really tend to like them this
nav station is fully equipped you've got all of your
access to your electrical it looks like you have your own
gps over here and engine controls you can monitor your tanks you can monitor
everything about the boat from this station
even the air conditioning can be controlled here i just want to emphasize
this nav station this forward facing nav station which
we really like is pretty much perfect so you can see
forward you can monitor everything about the boat right here while you're
on passage you can monitor your sails from right
there i mean this is where i feel like you're going to spend 90%
of your watch and also two people can sit here
and this doubles as essentially an office
for the boat you know and something i always think about when people say like
you're most likely not going to use your nav station is i'm sure most of you
watch sailing le vagabond or a good portion of you watch sailing le vagabond
and riley is constantly at the nav station i feel like we see him there
all the time especially on passage absolutely so i feel like if you
are actually like an ocean going vessel you're going to use it looking to
starboard over here we've got just a massive
settee table i can pretty much guarantee you that table goes all the way down and
becomes a berth there too we've got
a very large entertainment center for a boat right here
and then let's see what this is right here
oh and a bar place to keep your adult beverages and then i saw this
earlier this is the access to the helm station so very very good
access to all of these systems that are behind
the helm station so randy finally figured out
you just pull it up it was pretty simple how to lift the shade so
there you go there's your visibility and then
while you're at the nav station this is what you can see so
pretty much perfect textbook exactly what we want in our future
nav station just in a smaller package another thing i noticed
while i was in here is there's a motion sensor there so this boat
is rigged with a security system randy's just playing with stuff
it's a good good canned food storage if you need it
yeah there's another one on the side too let's go to port first
good handrails again coming down you've got two options actually
you've got another refrigerator here and it looks like
basically food i would say food storage area
i'm guessing this is going to be a cooler yep
freezer or fridge you think probably a freezer
this is kind of behind the nav station the nav station so there are
some electrical kind of components in here it looks
like the compressor for the ac and then this is just general storage
more storage down there electrical ac compressor it looks like
more storage up there okay this is like the back of the computer
moving forward you have a doorway if you would
like some privacy this is a berth it's a very
nice size berth probably a queen that looks like a queen to me yeah it's
very luxurious too with that it has a headboard
yeah very a lot of headroom a fold down television television steps up
yeah these are nice and then you've got like a little seat there
so there's clothes storage and more storage over here i'm sitting in
that little seat very cool i'm gonna go even farther
forward and we've got the head full head
and then a separate separate shower very nice stand and then this is
really cool the escape hatch is in the shower this is
access to the bow locker that was locked
and that is that does look like a dive compressor
so nice big bow locker with a dive compressor in it
couldn't be any more perfect looking apt what do you think granny this is a very
nice layout um a lot of times the heads the toilet or
the head like faces the door and then you kind
of have to awkwardly get around it but this is a good layout for the head for
sure yeah let's go act looks like again you've
got access to the bilge areas along the way
that's a lot deeper of a bilge than i would have expected more just
general storage little drawers and things like that
here this is a interesting storage area
different kind of corner unit yeah i mean they
they utilized every last square inch of this boat
this i imagine is a head yes so you've got
a full head with a stand-up shower in there as well
so this is the full head with the separate shower there's the
head so two heads in this hall already
and two showers i feel like it's going to sound like we're obsessed with storage
because we keep pointing out but it's literally everywhere
so this is another queen or double this is going to be another queen size
queen size there's plenty of storage along the side
of the berth i didn't reach over to look into it
it looks like there's some even built in on this side of the berth
all all along and then you've got storage here we're gonna have to stop
opening up all these storage compartments because this video is going
to be two hours long i know this one is like huge though look at
this you can turn that way too all right
enough with the storage the engine is going to be in each hall
underneath the beds and there we go there's access to that
so very good engine access you can definitely get down in there you've got
two yanmar diesels in this boat very nice
can i point out how thick the soundproofing is too very thick
let's check out that other hall we've got a whole nother hole a whole other
hole uh the starboard side back across the salon
got a ways to walk wow at who you have a berth right now it
looks like they're using it to store all of like the cushions from the cockpit
area you obviously have engine access below
here as well for your starboard side engine oh it looks like you might have
access here too yeah tons of storage yet again
let's go ahead and look at your oh this is a standalone shower
standalone shower or wet storage which is perfect
those falleys i know i just said i'm done opening
cabinets and i opened a cabinet so there's so many cabinets everywhere
it's ridiculous how many cabinets let's go forward now
this is like a storage room so i think jordan's uh let's stop opening
i think we can i think we can leave these ones closed
okay i think they get it there's a lot of storage guys
so you have another berth here that's a queen size again
so this is just like the queen on the other side there are some similarities
between the sides they're not exactly mirrored but i wouldn't call this a
owner's side necessarily it's an interesting layout
forward of you is a head with some interesting features and i did say
so we've got full head here and then forward of that
got a tub big tub stand up shower this is very much like the maverick that we
toured that i really liked that had a tub in it
and then got access to the bow locker which there is a washer dryer
in that so this boat is fully loaded all right guys i'm going to do the full
continuous below decks walk through and i'm starting in the
starboard side bow portion of the tub so this is the
separate shower slash tub and turning aft we've got a massive
storage area right there we've got randy queen size berth right there
looking aft we've got more storage i mean i don't know how many times we can
say how much storage this boat has but it has a
lot of storage and that is an understatement
so right here there is a standalone shower and aft of all that is
another queen size berth so looking forward we
have randy again turning to port
going up over the bridge deck into the salon we've got the galley
looking forward got the perfect nap station
starboard of that is the salon table randy again who's following me through
the boat we've got the kind of entertainment
center over here and looking back
to port going down into the porthole we're gonna go aft first we've got your
queen size berth again storage literally everywhere
the other full head is right here we've got the
overflow kitchen area right here float storage queen size berth
and then finally forward of all that we have the full head
and separate shower and i'm sorry but if you were staying in this hall
you don't get a tub so what do you think about this one right this is a
beautiful boat well thought out it has a ton of safety
equipment which is always good to see because i feel like this is a very
blue water capable boat and it's ready to go definitely i mean
it's pretty much perfect for blue water cruising i mean it is
absolutely an amazing boat there is nothing that it needs at all it has
everything and there's really nothing wrong with
it it's it's pretty crazy because like you rarely ever see a boat where you're
just like damn i feel like there was so much to see
too this is probably one of our longer videos just because
there was so much like you said if there was storage
everywhere there was equipment everywhere instruments everywhere
it is like fully decked out you really don't need anything
yeah positives everything yeah everything's a positive
negatives it's probably too big yeah it's that that's a huge boat yeah i
mean i would say it would be great for like
co-ownership with another couple or even like if you're real friendly like
four couples could live in that boat easily so
just something to consider if you're looking for like a shared ownership
situation we obviously really liked it there really is nothing wrong with the
boat the fact that we think it's too big is kind of our own
opinion so you know that's you know however big a boat should be
it really is an opinion of the person that owns that boat or if you have a
large family a large crew i mean you need something like that
exactly so i mean for us this boat is too big but for someone else it might
not be and obviously for the previous owner they loved it and they
they cared for it and it was awesome so speaking of the previous owner
i do want to mention that you know there's no way for us to cover
everything on this boat in a video for you guys on here i mean there's just so
much so the previous owner paul he went out and
made his own video about the boat it's like 45 minutes long but it's extremely
detailed so if you want more information on this boat just all
of the systems everything from bow to stern the link for
paul's video is going to be in the description below
also the contact information for the broker at just catamarans will be in the
description below as well as the current asking price as
always guys if you enjoyed this video make sure you leave a like and a
comment down below if you haven't already hit that subscribe button to
follow along with our journey and the notification bell if you want to know
each and every time we upload a video see you guys bye
i've got it but i learned my lesson
