Private La Costa Estate (Exceeding Expectations and Beyond Imagination) 7229 Almaden Lane

Here we are in beautiful sunny La Costa on the 14th fairway to check out this spectacular custom estate. Just as spectacular as the owner and artist Ruth Ko. I cannot wait for you to see the home, the grounds, and just really all the detail that's in this property. Without further ado let's go take a look inside. Welcome Ty. Good to see you. Good to see you. Thank you for having us out. I am absolutely delighted. I love the home and before we get in there tell me a little bit about it. Well this is Haleakani House with Friends and we're about 7,000 square foot of living space. Very nice. We're greeted by the koi pond that wraps around the front of the house. This really sets the tone for the property. I feel like I've just transported myself to Hawaii. Then I've achieved my goal. Very nice. The pond is about 11,000 gallons. Wow and the waterfall going in the background. I don't think anything can be as peaceful as this. Oh you're very kind. You're very kind. So where should we head to? Let's go over the bridge and I'll show you the entryway. Our water wall purpose of it was very good feng shui for the whole house. Yes. So and it leads you into the living room. So much attention to detail. You really designed the whole property. My husband and I did spend a year building it and then we've added on subsequently but the house is kind of a living art museum for us actually. So wow as we walk in just so open and this is really what everybody's looking for Ruth. It's very very comfortable and it's indoor outdoor living. Every room in the house leads out to the pool. And that's so special. I can feel that breeze coming through right now off the golf course. Well we really love it. You know we're located on the 14th fairway here at La Costa and every day is a new adventure. This was really a special dining room in that we put eight spotlights over each place setting. So I am in love with the property. I can see that this is a smart home. We have the the brains of the property. The brains as we call the rack and controls the lighting throughout. Before we get to the kitchen let me show you the step-down bar. My husband normally is hanging out here. It's got all the goodies. Wine locker, ice maker, all the granite. This is how we operate the theater. One touch of the finger. It's a smart home. Crestone operated. And how large is that screen? It's nine feet. I like to cook so the kitchen has a Gaggenau steamer, a wok, double ovens, five dishwashers in the house. So you don't have to do the dishes just throw them in the dishwasher. But what makes this house very special is our teppanyaki room. My husband Michael designed this. I have a little bit of input on the finishes but it is a professional cooktop where we have a chef come in. All the dishes and all the things for this dinner party stay in this room. This top comes off and the poker table goes on and it becomes a full poker room. Wow. It has a custom copper hood so all the air goes up. He can sit in here and smoke cigars and I don't get any the cigar smell the next day. This room has heating, has a outside humidor, wine bar, TV, pizza oven. This is a very intimate area where our friends love to gather and share stories. So this area here has heating so we can sit out here when it rains and have dinner. The floors are all heated for the winter so it does radiate heat and it's warm on your feet. The bar is all lit. The countertops are also heated and as well as the floor. You can turn that on in the winter and stay warm. And everything's staying right? Right. We would like to just walk away. Wow. Take our clothes. Wow and then probably do this all again. Yes. I'm looking forward to another project. We built a full outdoor Viking kitchen. Kind of a chef's dream and we call it the catering kitchen. It's got dishwasher, refrigerator, large barbecue, smoker oven. Wow. Two warming drawers. What else do you need? And the nice thing about having this over here is it's a little bit separate from the party so that you can still have all the action without seeing any of the mess. Absolutely. Absolutely. This bathroom is one of my favorite rooms in the house. It is pure Hawaii. All turtles. Everything is so thoughtful. I mean everything has been thought of. With a TV above it so you don't miss anything. I can't stop looking at this pool. I could talk about just a statement piece right here in the middle of the backyard. We decided to tile the entire pool and it's absolutely gorgeous. It really sets the tone for the backyard. And here's the 14th fairway and we have our own private putting green. Well, do you think I could try one real quick? Oh sure. Go ahead. Whoa. All right. This area here is right off our master bedroom which you haven't seen yet. We see all the golf tournaments here. Actually Tiger Woods' wife came in and used our restroom. No way. Very nice. This is a whole different feeling than this garden. This was very zen for me that I'm able to sculpt and design with this peaceful waterfall. This tree here I mean. Isn't it magnificent? Wow. We saved this tree. It was dying when we bought this home. It's really been thriving. We have an automatic gate that actually opens up and you can take your golf cart right on to the golf course. From this pathway. From this pathway. This is the golf path. Very nice. This is the private entrance to the studio. Here is where I sculpt. Great workspace. It's also a mini exercise area. We went the extra mile and put a TV in the ceiling for when you're stretching. Let's head up the stairway to my husband's office. We added this office and studio on about five years ago. Wow. And it's the ultimate man cave. It really is and I mean the detail continues. I love the wall here. The ledger stone. It has three built-in big screen TVs so he doesn't miss a thing. And then it's got a custom desk. Yeah talk a little bit about this desk. Well I found this beautiful piece of wood and I believe it's from Thailand. Wow. And then I had our cabinet maker make the bottom part into a desk with drawers. So Michael just loves it and it stays with the home. Michael had an industrial strength fan put in here in case he wanted to smoke a cigar. He hasn't but you could. So as we go this way we're into the guest suite. Our guests come and they don't want to leave. It has a full-on wet bar refrigerator. You shut that door and your guests almost have their own apartment. They do. It has its own private entrance. It has a big walk-in closet. Its own private bathroom. Now what we've all been waiting for. Oh okay. This is the master suite. Wow. Oh my gosh. I just redid this room about a year ago. It has a comfortable seating area that we use quite a bit. A full-on bar and it goes out to this private patio that we just showed you a few minutes ago. This is another room where you just literally you have to stop and just take it all in. The special thing about this room is the tv. Let me show you real quick. This room has what you call vision art and vision art was developed by my dear friend Bill Anderson. You can take any picture or painting you like and make a frame out of it. So let me show you the master bath. We added this shower and it's a walk-through so there's no glass doors to open and close. It as well has a tv in front of the jacuzzi tub so if you want to relax in the tub and watch tv there you go and you have a view to the golf course. This room is very very comfortable and I can retreat in here and not come out for days. Let me show you my favorite room. Here we have the master closet and this is my closet and I love it in here. I can see why. I love it in here. This is any woman's dream closet. Any woman's gonna fall in love with this. All these doors have been sectioned so they're all custom. And as we walk back the closet lights up which is all the lighting is automated. Wow. It has a custom shoe area enough for 400 pair. All the women right now are crying because of this closet. This area is right off the living room and this is kind of an outdoor living room. Have a seat. Thank you. So this is a lovely time of day to sit here, read a book, visit with your friends. Talk a little bit about the inspiration behind the heaven. Well Michael and I have traveled quite a bit and in our travels some of the finest hotels in the world there are things that you just everybody loves and you go I want that and we've recreated it in this home. The way that it sparkles at night is one of a kind. You really feel like you're at a resort when you're here and the bar area phenomenal. Just look at that at night. You know this is really a special spot with the water wall and the fire below it is it just is so intriguing. We have so many of our guests we can't find them and they're over there. It really lets you appreciate what you're getting because it's so different than any other home in this community. Now talk a little bit about your home and how it's positioned here on the golf course. Well we're located on the 14th fairway here at La Costa Resort and Country Club. Our home is one of the few that has direct access right to the golf course and we're located right across the way as you can see from the clubhouse. What are some of the other amenities here that maybe even the Country Club offers? Full gym, three or four wonderful restaurants. There is a member's lounge if people do join the club. Tennis courts but very close are the Carlsbad outlet mall. So there's a lot going on here. If you happen to have a private jet you just fly right into Palomar and you're four minutes to the house. And if you happen to have children Legoland is close.
