Hey guys, welcome back to my channel. Today I'm going to talk to you about a movie that I've
been waiting for for a while now because it's by one of my favorite directors and it's Isle of Dogs.
Isle of Dogs is the newest movie by Wes Anderson aka the king of symmetry, whip pants and quirky
characters. It's about a young boy named Atari who is looking for his dog after the mayor,
who is also his uncle, ordered a ban on all dogs in the city of Megasaki, Japan. Atari lands on
Trash Island which is where all the dogs were sent to. This place, as you can tell by the name,
is disgusting. All of the dogs eat whatever they can find and it's often trash. They're all sick
and sneezing. Everything is just not looking good for them on Trash Island. But there's a group of
dogs who join Atari and help him on his quest to find his dog spots. This is stop-motion animation
in the style of his last stop-motion movie which was Fantastic Mr. Fox, which is great by the way.
This movie is typical Wes Anderson and if you have ever seen a Wes Anderson movie then you
know what I'm talking about. Symmetrical shots, quick whip pants that land perfectly in a
symmetrical, perfect shot. The very specific color palette, the monotone voices of the characters,
everything is very in his style. The movie was really really funny, at least I thought it was
really funny. I really enjoyed the dialogue, especially between the dogs. I thought they were
very smart and witty. It was just very unique, I guess quirky. And of course paired with how they
deliver their lines in this very like monotone, straight on, like all of the character stuff like
this, you know? I don't know if I did a good job but that's basically all Wes Anderson movies. I just
find it very charming. In this film you can only understand what the dogs are saying. You can't
understand anything that the humans are saying, unless you speak Japanese of course. And also with
the exception of the foreign exchange student who is an American girl and also a translator. I know
there's been a lot of controversy towards this but I didn't really mind that you couldn't understand
what the Japanese people were saying because you could always figure out what was being said. Also
I kind of like the notion of understanding the dogs but not the humans because in real life we
can't understand the dogs. It was kind of like a reverse thing where we could understand everything
the dogs were saying but not the humans. So I kind of like that in that aspect but then again
you could understand what the American girl was saying and the translator. So it's all very tricky
but looking at it in a did I enjoy this film kind of way, I think it didn't really matter that you
couldn't understand what the people were saying in Japanese because at the end of the day you could
you could always figure out what was happening. So yeah, that's my take on it. There's been a lot
of controversy around this so if you want to get more info on that you can always, you know, go to
another review or google it. To be honest, I didn't really mind it. I did think that some of the things
especially towards the ending happened too quickly. Don't worry, I'm not going to spoil anything but
I thought that the way that things got resolved was a little bit too out of the blue kind of.
I think this movie was a lot more complex than any of his other movies. It dealt with many
different themes such as feeling like you don't belong, standing up for what's right,
aggression and you can even pick apart some political themes within the movie like the use
of propaganda and other things like that. So I think it was a lot more complex but overall it
was a classical Wes Anderson movie with a lot of whimsical and charming characters and settings
but I also think it was less of a quirky movie and more of a serious one in the Wes Anderson
spectrum. I honestly really really like this movie and I want to watch it a second time because I
think I'll be able to discover a lot more things about it. There were several different storylines
happening in this movie. It was the storyline of Atari and the dogs, the storyline of the mayor,
the storyline of the scientist trying to find a cure for the snout fever, then the storyline of
Tracy who's the foreign exchange student. So there were a lot of things happening in this movie so I
think I need to give it out a second watch and I would gladly do so because I really, like I said,
enjoyed this movie a lot. So with that said, I give I Love Dogs an 8 out of 10. Also, I didn't know this
but after I watched the movie and everything and I saw some people talking about it, I Love Dogs
is supposed to sound like I love dogs. So I love dogs and I love dogs. Okay, thank you so much for
watching. I hope you enjoyed this review. Let me know if you have watched this movie, if you like
Wes Anderson, if you think it was better or worse than his other films. Let me know if you disagree
with me on the people speaking Japanese in the movie and stuff. I really want to know. And yeah,
let me know if you want to watch this movie also, if this review maybe changed your mind about
watching it. I don't know, just leave me a comment and like this video if you liked it and also don't
forget to subscribe if you haven't. Yeah, I'll see you guys on the next video. Bye!
