So today I teach a private lesson and I get the idea from her that she was using the rib before
you even shape it. Usually I tell people to use a rib to do the final shaping but
she used it right after she opened the hole and I think that's a very good idea so
I might want to introduce doing this so that you will form a very nice curve before you start with
so later on you might be better for making a nicer curve on the inside. So this is what she did
using the rib to compress it on the inner part there. Yeah this is the three inches rib so
you already start with a very nice curve on the inside so later on you are using that curve to
guide you through. So this part here is nice and then you just build it on the same
kind of a curve and you pull it up instead of doing at a very last step
and once it's coming bigger you can use a bigger rib to do that too.
Make sure this is slippery and then I just keep on pulling it from the same kind of a curve
created from my second the medium size rib which is four inches and once it grows bigger
maybe you could use
the largest rib to
compress it right and then the very final step is just shaping it remove the slip from outside
let me use a sponge to wipe up so you can see
the very perfect curve from the ribs but when I gradually increase the size
of the bowl I use the larger size of the rib
if you want to get rid of the throwing mark you could use a metal rib to just slightly compress it
okay so it's much easier than if you are not good at making the bowl especially inside parts here
you got a lot of finger marks this is a very good way to throw
I just got this idea from the student I have today
so when you teach you're also learning too
okay so this is much easier if you are not good at pulling
having your too much finger mark inside this is the way to throw okay three different size of
the round rib after you open up compress it so you make a nice curve inside and once you
grow bigger change to the bigger rib and then compress that and even bigger you use a larger
very easy to get a nice perfect form of inside and outside it's okay because you
always trim so it's much easier to take care of it when you're ready to trim
all right so hope this demonstration helped that the three ribs I never thought of
doing it at the beginning so this is much easier and quicker way to throw a nice perfect bowl
right thanks for watching and I will trim this one I'm using my other tool to show you
how to use the tool a lot of people are confusing how to use the tool and I will
show you when I'm doing the demonstration on trimming but see you next time
