So if this is something you want to partake in, just watch till the end of the video,
but let's get into, would you save or would you splurge?
So I'm going to go through a list of a couple of like staple pieces for a home and we're
going to have a discussion on if you would save or if you would splurge, I'll give you
guys my opinion.
Again, there is no right or wrong answer.
This is really just me wanting to have conversation with you guys.
So make sure to sound off down below in the comments if you agree with me on some of these
or if you don't.
And the whole reason this whole video came to be about was because of one item in particular
that was kind of a controversial item in Arvin Alano's video that I did with him about a
week ago.
So if you guys have yet to have seen that video, I'll make sure to link it in the cards
for you.
But there was one item in particular that just people thought I was crazy for.
So let's talk about it.
So first item, couch, save or splurge?
For me personally, I would splurge on this.
But when I say splurge, I don't think you need to spend $15,000 on a cloud couch.
I spent $3,000 on my couch and we got it from Living Spaces and it has been the best couch
that we have had.
I love it.
It's held up.
It's great quality.
We've had absolutely zero issues.
So I think when it comes to investing in a couch, definitely invest, but I don't think
you need to spend thousands beyond thousands of dollars on a couch.
But just keep in mind that anything that you're going to be sitting on, family, friends, this
is going to be an item that is going to be very well used.
So make sure that you do your research before purchasing and making that big investment.
So sound off down below, splurge or save on a couch?
Go.
Next item, lighting fixtures.
Definitely for me, you can save on this.
I think do your research before purchasing lighting fixtures.
But I think there are so many companies out there like Lulu in Georgia, Rejuvenation that
make really great lighting fixtures for not that much money.
You can even find some stuff on Amazon and other areas, Wayfair, Houzz.
There are so many different websites that carry actually really good quality lighting
fixtures for not that much money.
Just make sure that the style, the style is very important for your space.
So I definitely think lighting fixtures is an area you can save on.
Rugs.
How do we feel about rugs, you guys?
For me, my answer on rugs is a 50-50 because I own both good hand-woven quality rugs and
I also own the not-so-good rugs.
Here's my reasoning.
Without a doubt, you guys can tell a hand-woven rug versus a rug that is not good quality,
however you want to slice it and dice it.
I like to say that.
The quality is there between one and the other.
However, I'm a mother.
I have a husband that comes home with his boots on.
I have a 90-pound pit bull.
I have a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter and another one-to-be.
I know cheap rugs or cheaper rugs are more realistic and practical for a lot of us.
That's why people get ruggable.
That's why people get cheap rugs because it's hard for them to invest money in and I 100%
hear you on that.
I only have two nice rugs and it hurt my heart when I had to buy them, but they are really
great quality.
However, I definitely think when you are buying a rug, there are so many companies that make
actually kind of medium, when it comes to price point, medium price point rugs that
are good quality.
They're not the best, but they're not the cheapest that you can definitely settle on
to make a space in your home feel really cozy.
So again, I'm 50-50 on this because I have been on both sides of the spectrum of splurging
on rugs and saving on rugs.
So I'm 50-50 on this, but definitely can appreciate a really good quality rug versus a not-so-good
quality rug.
So let me know what you guys think.
Next item, window treatments.
Now we have not really talked about the bones of a house when it comes to stuff like that.
I didn't even think about window treatments until we moved into this home.
Now for those of you guys who are new to my channel, we moved into our current home about
a year and a half ago.
It is a brand new build and with that comes no window treatments on any of your windows.
So after you buy your house and you go through all the closing costs and stuff and then you're
like, oh shoot, we don't have any privacy.
We have to buy window treatments.
So my husband and I invested in window treatments and this would be an area that I definitely
say scores on.
Window treatments makes a huge impact on your home and we invested in three different rooms.
The windows that are in front of me, the living room windows, and the windows in our bedroom
are all on remote control so we actually can press a button and they will rise or press
another button and they will go down.
So that has been honestly such a game changer when it comes to window treatments and like
definitely feels like so luxe at night when we just click a button and our window treatments
come down.
And so I definitely think window treatments, I would definitely splurge on.
We didn't do remote controls on every single window because that definitely gets costly.
We prioritized it for the rooms that we use the most.
So window treatments for me, splurge on.
Alright, the next two items are dining table and dining chairs.
Arvin and I did talk about this in my video and I said that I would splurge on a dining
table but I would save on dining chairs.
My reasoning for this, I definitely think investing in a staple dining table and then
saving a little bit on the chairs because trends are constantly changing.
What's popular today might not be popular tomorrow as we know things are changing so
quickly in the home decor category.
So I figured you would invest in a really good table and then you can switch out the
chairs if you get over them in 1 to 2 or 3 years and that changes the entire look of
your dining table.
Now again, these are just my personal opinions on this.
Let me know what you guys think but again, splurging on the dining table but saving on
the chairs.
Alright you guys and the last category for this video is accessories.
Now the item that people came after me about on Arvin's video was a freaking olive tree.
So I said that I would spend $3.99 on the Crane Barrel Olive Tree because it's realistic
and it has a really great volume to it and people blew me up saying I was crazy, I'm
unrealistic, why would you spend that much money, just buy a real tree, just buy a fake
tree for half the price.
I hear you.
My reasoning for spending $3.99 on a Crane Barrel tree is I've spent more money on purchasing
live fiddle trees from Home Depot or Costco and killing them because I just don't have
a green thumb when it comes to indoor plants and I've spent more money on buying faux plants
and faux trees from Home Goods or wherever it might be and them just looking so cheap
and so tacky.
I feel like if you have really cheap looking faux stuff, it can cheapen a room so much.
So for me, I would rather just do a one time investment of a $3.99 olive tree and call
it a day.
Now sound off down below, am I crazy, do you feel me on this, again I've spent more money
on trying to keep trees alive here or buying cheap trees and them looking like crap and
tossing them or donating them or whatever.
So that's just me but getting off of the olive tree, I just wanted to see what you guys thought
about that.
Accessories, I definitely think save 100% on accessories, all the accessories in my
home and behind me, they're from a variety of Home Goods, Target, TJ Maxx, Marshalls,
I don't think you need to spend a lot of money on accessories because to be honest, we're
constantly changing them, I'm constantly selling stuff off, repurchasing, do not invest money
into these things, these little small trinkets and shenanigans, just save your money and
invest in good things like a nice olive tree because yeah, that's my input on that.
So yeah, that is it you guys, I hope you guys enjoyed, I'm really curious to read these
comments and see if I'm crazy or if all of my opinions are kind of valid within this
