Hi guys, this is Megan with the blog wilsonhomestead.com
and today I am doing another vlog. These have been a lot of fun to do lately.
You guys have been seeming to really enjoy them and it's just a lot of fun
for me to show you guys what we're doing on the homestead. So,
Demi wants more sauerkraut, hold on. Anyway,
so yesterday I forgot to film much but Luke was home.
It was Thursday yesterday, now it's Friday, so he had an extra day off this
week which was a lot of fun and he worked on
drilling some holes out in the pasture. Fruit trees we're getting soon
and worked on building the chicken coop. So we're kind of on hold with the
chicken coop project because we need to get some more
supplies for it but he's going to be borrowing the neighbor's big auger to
make drilling holes go faster out in the pasture.
So he's just out there measuring and marking it out with some
orange spray paint so we know we can just borrow it for a day,
go through and drill all the holes real quick. Well,
I say real quick but we're getting 600 trees in so
that is a lot of holes. So I'm just working on
starting dinner in the crock pot. I'm putting in two rabbits
and I made kind of this sweet spicy sauce and
that's always really good. Either rabbit or chicken with that sauce on it.
But we're just about to eat some lunch. We're having leftover soup
and sauerkraut and raw milk. So I hope you guys enjoy following along with our
weekend and I'm gonna go feed this baby
because she's getting a little fussy.
How are you doing?
By loving him.
Doing what he says.
She is.
By loving him and doing what he commands.
I'm doing what he says.
Oh no, not yet.
Not yet. Has daddy been helping you memorize that?
Yeah, is it fun?
Yeah, all the countries are there.
Okay, give him.
Give me what you're doing.
Are you reading?
Show me your baby.
Oh, it's got a blanket on.
Yeah.
Walking back to the house now
and I love how
the duck's little log cabin turned out.
It looks so cool. This is really
starting to look like
a homestead.
It's so much fun to do all this stuff.
We just feel so lucky to be able
to live this life.
It's what we've been working for
for the last five years.
You always want to make sure you
close gates when you live on a farm.
That is one of the worst mistakes
you can make is leaving gates open
when they were closed when you went through them.
I learned that lesson many a time
as a kid growing up on a farm.
Vivian's just hanging out here with me.
We're on the way back
inside to make dinner.
We're going to have that rabbit
and I'm going to start
the mashed potatoes and
Luke and the kids are just going to work on that.
Who knows if they'll
even come in for dinner. They're going to be having
too much fun out there.
It's dark in here.
I just made some chocolate chip cookie dough.
I just used the Nestle Tollhouse
recipe but I
substitute the flour
for gluten free flour since I can have gluten.
It always turns out the
best ever. I'm going to get to
baking those cookies and making the potatoes for
dinner. It's the next day
now. It's Saturday and
Luke
started out this morning drilling holes out in the
pasture with our neighbor's auger
and then it started leaking
hydraulic fluid and it
needs to have a part changed out.
Long story short, that's on hold
for today so Luke
is working on the chicken coop again
and moving OSB
into the garage because it rained a ton last
night and we weren't expecting it so
all that OSB got rained on so we're moving
it before that happens again. I'm just
in here. Vivian's been
so fussy all morning and now she's
finally asleep so I've been able
to get an order out. I had to
make some pregnancy herbal tea
to ship and a bar of soap
so the order's finally out
and that feels a lot better
to have that done.
And yeah, I like to try to have
the house cleaned up a bit before Sunday
so we can just relax and not
be stressed out about, you know, how dirty
the house is. So I need to do a little
bit of tidying, I need to wash the dishes
and it's just, it is ridiculous
how fast the house gets dirty when you have
little kids or even just in
general. It just gets
so dirty so fast. It was literally like perfectly
clean yesterday.
I don't even know what happens, it's
constant. And then
if I have time, I have a bunch of
apples I want to slice up and dehydrate. I don't know if I'll
get to that today. But I mean
too soon before they start going bad. But
yeah, we're just going to start working and see how much
we can get done.
Well, we had a really good
weekend. Although it did seem like
our plans kept getting foiled.
We had a couple issues with the
auger and so
Luke only got like
20-ish holes done and
had to take it back and
we're waiting for it possibly,
hopefully he'll have it fixed by next weekend and we can
borrow it again.
It was something that was like totally not
Luke's fault. It was just
was going to need to be replaced anyway and it
just happened to break when we had it.
But he did get more work done on the chicken coop,
got more of the walls up and
that's going to be nice. So hopefully
you guys enjoyed seeing some
of what we did this last weekend.
Thank you for watching and I will see you in
my next video. Bye!
