Hello my name is Jon and in this video I'm going to give you a few tips if you're planning to travel to Vietnam
I was in Vietnam a few weeks ago and the truth is that it's a country I really wanted to visit in this part of Southeast Asia
It's one of the most touristy places in this area but I hadn't gotten around to it yet so I was really excited to go
Vietnam is a country that despite not being very large is quite long
Then the best way to travel between different points in the country is by plane
Depending on the distances you can also do it by train or bus just in case you want to save money
For example there are night trains It's a very popular option just like in Thailand for traveling long distances
But anyway since domestic flights are quite cheap I think it's worth it to move by plane if you want to save time
If you're wondering what the best time to visit Vietnam is I would recommend going in the winter
Why Because in winter when it's already late November December even January it's the dry season in Vietnam
Yes because I had always seen Vietnam and they had always sold it to me as a super humid super hot country
I'm saying this about places with higher levels than Thailand It's more humid than Thailand hotter than Thailand
Then there are people who told me that it was even unpleasant
And I was actually expecting that Well it's done now If it's humid and hot then I'm prepared for that
But when I went in December the truth is I found the exact opposite For me it was a perfect climate
It was even cold for someone else but it was perfect for me It was warm during the day so that was great
It was about 23-24 degrees which is a perfect temperature for me There was almost no humidity
Then you're not constantly moving around and always soaked and sweaty but rather you're perfect
Then it's true that at night when it gets dark the temperatures drop quite a bit
And when I say they drop it's 15 degrees and even a bit less
Then you need to bring something warm like a sweatshirt or something to keep you warm through the night
Because really if you go with short sleeves or no sleeves as I would say you're going to get cold
In fact one day in Ninh Binh I was returning from some temples by motorbike and I was freezing
Because I was wearing even shorts I put on a very thin jacket
But even so the wind from riding the motorcycle plus the cold of the night made me shiver
Then if you go at this time keep in mind that it's cold at night
Also if you're going mainly between April and September November
With warmer temperatures comes more humidity but it is also the rainy season
So you may experience more rain
I think it rained on me for 10 minutes throughout the whole trip
So for me that's why I'm saying that for me it was an ideal climate
Also it's much less touristy so there are way fewer people
So it's also much better to be in the places and have them practically to yourselves
Regarding this this is what I told you before I visited Sapa
Sapa is a well-known area in northern Vietnam as I have told you near the border with China
It is near Hanoi about three hours away
And the main attraction of this area is that there live some ethnic groups some local ethnic communities
They have their own traditions their own culture
And it's interesting to live together with them
In addition the typical photos of Vietnam of terraced rice fields are also from this part of the country Sapa
Then they are the most beautiful photos
But in winter like when I went it can even snow everything is brown
Then I didn't want to waste days
going there to encounter this kind of landscape It didn't attract me
But I had no problems anywhere else in the
country The truth is that everything was perfect in terms of the weather
And that's why I recommend that for me the most beautiful part of Vietnam in terms of nature was Ninh Binh
Here you go well Ninh Binh itself is a city that isn't very beautiful it's quite ugly
But it's right here nearby where all the attractions are
Oh I recommend that you stay in the Tam Coc area which has a very beautiful lake
That's where these large mountain landscapes begin which are located inside the lake
And in this area there are various points including even a temple area
And then all of that can be done in a couple of days on a motorcycle or have someone take you or even by bike
Yes this area is
very very beautiful Ninh Binh I recommend the entire area
Then in Da Nang Da Nang itself I didn't really like the city
But it has very beautiful parts like the mountains the Marble Mountains or the marble mountains
There are some beaches here although the water is rougher but they're still nice
As an option if you are not going to the Phu Quoc area which I mentioned another beach area
Well if you're looking for something like this Da Nang is also a good option
And you also have the Vanna Hills which are the Vanna hills
They are a bit hidden about an hour or so by car
Here you can see for example the bridge the Golden Bridge
I know it's a bridge it's a place that has become very popular since it opened a few years ago
Because it started to go viral on Instagram and social media
Then many people will visit them but even so if it appeals to you it's a good spot
I know I wanted to visit him but it's true that it takes an hour to go and another hour to come back
Then many people will already be there when you arrive
It's at the top of the mountain so you take a cable car
The car for example I was with Grab so my Grab driver dropped me off
You take a cable car that takes you up you stay a while you come down and then you get back on it to take you back
Sometimes this app has not been talked about but Grab is like Uber
It's the one that works best in Southeast Asia it's called G-R-A-B
And it works very well because for example in cities like Hanoi
or Ho Chi Minh they not only have cars but even motorcycles
Because in the end they are super crowded cities there is a lot of traffic
so the best way to move around is by motorcycle
You can choose to go as a package with a rider
I haven't used it as a motorcycle because I usually walk around in cities
And when I have to go to the airport I just take a car
But for trips that you don't want to take too much time it's a
very good option and Grab is a super affordable app in Vietnam
In Southeast Asia in general but in Vietnam it's very very cheap
Then as I mentioned to you Hoi An is for me well
It is considered the most beautiful city in Vietnam especially
at night I recommend that you spend the night in Hoi An
By day it's beautiful but at night everything is illuminated all the
markets the river too with the little boats with the colored lamps
It's amazing super beautiful so I especially
recommend spending at least one night in Hoi An
Then in Hue which is very nice because it's the old imperial city of Vietnam
then you can also be here I would dedicate a full day
Visit the fortress the different temples and places of rest
that were inside the imperial city which you can do on excursions
or at your own risk
Then Ho Chi Minh which is a city that many people dismiss
because they don't like it because they see it as very chaotic
And I really knew what he was looking for in Ho Chi Minh
the chaos of seeing all the motorbikes which wouldn't take up more people
But I didn't think it was that big honestly
I thought it was very similar to Hanoi in that aspect
There are definitely many more people it's a much
bigger city but I didn't find it unpleasant at all
It's a super cool city I felt really comfortable there are
beautiful streets there are quite a few tourist attractions
There are no cathedrals because in the end it was a colony of Vietnam
a colony of France for a long time
Since there are many buildings there is a lot of architecture from the colonial era
Then there are for example cathedrals that resemble Notre Dame
there are other buildings that are also very similar operas
Then it's well worth spending at least a full day in Ho Chi Minh
But since you're in Ho Chi Minh there are other places you can visit around here
For example the Mekong Delta the mythical Mekong Delta
featured in movies like Apocalypse Now can also be visited
You can also visit the Cu Chi Tunnels which were
used by the Vietnamese during the Vietnam War
To hide from the Americans and also to fill them with traps
just in case they were looking for them and it's very interesting
You have the option to enter those tunnels and
I strongly recommend it as it is very close to Ho Chi Minh
You can also go on your own but well I went on a one-day tour
which is a very good option for me because being away from the city
What would the transportation and entrance cost you going on an excursion is
actually cheaper and they would also act
as your guide and explain things to you
And finally what I recommended to you before which is Phu Quoc
Phu Quoc is an island located in the southwest of Vietnam
It is an island that is very small really tiny but
it doesn't get much tourism and it has amazing beaches
Then they are white sand beaches with crystal clear
water super quiet with amazing weather super good
There are many resorts and there's very little tourism
so you can have beaches practically to yourselves
There is tourism the majority of which is Russian you'll see there are many Russians
but still it's very very quiet the food is great there
It's very much worth it to go I recommend it
to you if you want some quiet beach days go to Phu Quoc
A very important aspect of Vietnam is its food in
Vietnam it is great like in almost all of Southeast Asia
So if you like rice if you like pho which is
one of the most traditional dishes in Vietnam
They are the typical noodle soups also the spring rolls
there are many types of spring rolls
Many dishes use fried bananas in Vietnam bananas are
widely used both in savory
and sweet dishes in desserts
Vietnam is also the second most important coffee-producing
country in the world I recommend you try Vietnamese coffee
It's very good they also serve it in different ways
in more traditional ways
and sometimes they even use condensed milk
It's very sweet but it's also worth trying
And finally I visited Halong Bay
It is one of the seven natural wonders of the modern world
and the best way to visit Halong Bay is by taking a cruise
There are one-day cruises two-day cruises with one night on the boat in the bay
or even two nights and so on
I think one night is enough in the
end the landscapes are very similar
it's all very beautiful it's precious because they are the Halong Bay
It is a bay with mountains submerged in the water
but it is true that the landscape is quite similar
Then one night is enough to give you a sense of what it is
and there are cruises of all kinds
From budget cruises to luxury cruises I stayed in a
luxury one which was quite
expensive but it was worth it
We were ten people on the whole ship the
food was exquisite the service impressive
Then it was worth it because I also had a birthday
then it was like a gift I wanted to give myself
So you can find these cruises on Booking as well
so nothing else there you will have the entire offer
And everything they offer you each
Vietnam is a very safe country
the truth is I didn't have any problems anywhere
I was using the camera with which I recorded which
is big with the microphone and such with the drone
And no one ever said anything to me I didn't see any strange
looks or anything so overall it's a very very safe country
So that's it this is the end of the video if you have
any questions don't hesitate
to contact me and that's all I'll be happy to answer you
So nothing else
until next time Goodbye
