HIGHLIGHTS Germany keep their hopes alive with a draw against Spain World Cup 2022

Asensio, still with Spain! Very nearly 1-0 to Spain. Dani Olmo, let him fly. This is from Manuel Neuer, again Germany trying to press high and Spain being able to break through it. He has a go, guarded as his weaker one. Very unselfish from Dani Olmo there, made the run in behind which allowed Jordi Alba to get on the ball. Cutting inside on his unfancied right foot and good strike with his weaker foot. There is a VAR check for a possible offside in this and indeed the goal has been disallowed. Great ball in and yes, he's just gone early but nevertheless a great header. It's a really difficult one for Petri and it's Gundogan and it's Kimmich! They're so insistent, Spain, on continuing to play out the back even though Germany have dispossessed them a few times and this one was almost the one that was costly for them. Busquets, Dani Olmo, Jordi Alba. A lovely tap, the substitution has worked to perfection. It's the recently introduced Alvaro Morata. They haven't had a striker with that killer predator instinct to get across the near post but Morata comes on on the first occasion, just sniffs it out. And it was actually a really good finish because he's in front of the near post and it's always difficult to score when you're in front of the near post but Morata does it expertly there. Kosterman to Sane. Volkrog, means for the Germans. And it's his presence that's made a real impact on this game. Initially it was a running behind for Musiala Volkrog which has allowed Sane to get space in the pocket and it's those two guys there who combined to bring Germany level. And that's the final act. Niklas Volkrog played the rescue role and Germany are still in with a fighting chance of reaching the knockout stage.
