Okay, I'm going to test these three pieces of a new tool that is in development. It's made out
of a little bit harder stainless steel, 420J2 stainless steel. I designed it to make this part
here a little bit thicker. My regular one is one millimeter, this one is 1.5. This one should be
stronger and I made it using a beautiful wooden handle. This is Wenge, W-E-N-G, wooden handle.
This will be available soon and I'm just going to test it to trim on this piece and see how it goes.
All right, I'm trimming right on the back. This is my other development tool.
It's made of a very strong plastic.
So I will first use my number two. They are all having the number, the
shape of it just like my regular stainless steel trimming tool or the tungsten carbide tool.
So the shape is similar but it's just different material. So this
will be somewhere in between the regular 300 series of a stainless and tungsten carbide tool.
So this will be in between. It's 420. Because some people are afraid of using tungsten carbide,
even though it is very hard material, but once you throw it on the hard floor, it will just
be broken. So I'm developing this tool. It's somewhere in between.
And all my tools I designed so it will be easier to resharpen them.
As long as you have the right sharpening tool, it's easy to resharpen them if the tool gets dull.
So this is my number two. As long as it's very sharp, it's cutting the clay like cutting the
butter. For Boston, I think this is a good tool. Probably not hard enough for very groggy clay.
So if you have a groggy clay, maybe you could use a carbide tool to do all the heavy lifting
and final finish using this kind of a trimming tool. I have to use this to trim a couple pieces
and the edge still feels sharp to me. Usually my regular stainless steel, if you trim several
pieces, you will start to feel the edges a little bit dull. This one is still good. It's heat treated
so the edge is a little bit harder. Usually I do a number two for the footing, also a little bit of
outside part here. I'm going to try the other one. So this is my number five and like I told you that
the thickness of this blade is a little bit thicker than my regular stainless steel.
It's 50% thicker so it's harder for you if you want to get the chattering mouth visited harder
to get the chattering. But sometimes people don't want to have the chatter mark then this tool would
be good because this is stronger so it doesn't vibrate like my regular stainless tool. Usually
I've been using number five for this kind of a curve but I don't have this kind of curve so
I'm not going to use this part here. Just use the straight side to cut
this curve. This is number five and then this is my number three.
So this tool was designed for cutting the nut. If you're making the lidded part, the part with the
this part here, this curve is nicer. It's going to take care of that little finger grip on your
nut and also the straight edge is for trimming. This kind of curve is good too. If you want to
cut the ridges, this is also good for cutting the ridges because this curve here. So bring
back my number two to take care of the corner here.
I use that tool to make the different texture ridges here and small lines here.
A little bit of chatter here on the belly.
All right, so the three of my five pieces, five different shapes, three of them, I tested them
and I think they are quite good. The edge is still very sharp here even though I have trimmed several
pieces. The handle is very beautiful too. A little bit of angles here, like a six-sided angle.
A little bit flat and hold it here. It's good for holding. Either way, you hold it on your hand like
this or you hold it like a pencil here. Especially when you trim the bottom, you hold it like a
pencil and for the side, you hold it like that or you can hold it like a pencil too.
Okay, so they will be available soon and stay tuned. I will announce it when it's available.
So you can go shopping from my Squarespace or my Etsy shop. It will be cheaper if you
directly order from my Squarespace because if you leave it out of state,
it's a little bit tax advantage, so it'll be cheaper there.
All right, so thanks for watching and see you next time.
