Recently, I went on a mountain bike road trip with Richie Rude (2x Enduro World Champ) and Willem Cooper (Owner and head trainer at Cycle Craft Fitness) down to North Carolina. For the first leg of our trip we spent 2 days shredding the new Ride Kanuga pedal access park. Check out Part 1 here: https://youtu.be/gL4JNwjaCMk
For part 2, we headed over the The Riveter, an indoor dirt jump and adventure center that is an absolute blast. Come along for the ride!
Huge thanks to Richie and Willem for an awesome trip and to Max Beaupre and The Riveter for the hospitality!
Feel free to add your feedback and thoughts in the comments section and as always, thanks for following along!
What's up everyone? Jimmy from MTB Travel Review here. Just pulled into Riveter Bike Park Adventure
Center in North Carolina with Richie Rude and Willem Cooper. We're gonna do some riding,
see what we can do with some dirt jumps. I haven't been on a dirt jumper in oh I don't know 20 years
so we'll just have to see how this goes. Let's go! Before 15 in the morning taking a trip down to
let's go. Stop number one, Willem Cooper's house.
Number two, don't feel about cameras Richie.
I'm flexing on the ground. 18 hours. We're on canoes. Satisfied mountain biker right now.
Wrap on Canuga. We're all out of here. Lululemons bro, you're talking about your skinny jeans?
Y'all so flexible. Look at this, look at this schwag.
Not the best weather here. No Canuga today. We'll get some breakfast, check out the Riveter
with our buddy Max Beaupre. See if we can ride the dirt jumps. Yeah, yeah, that's how it is.
What up boy? How you doing? Good man. What a day, just keep getting better.
Thank you. Are you Jimmy? I am.
He's a wicked fan of you too. Nice! So am I gonna be on YouTube? Yeah, oh yeah. You're
awesome. Thank you. What's your name? Jesse. Thanks Jesse.
How are you doing boy? Easy because the first lap I went to pull the brake and I'm used to my
really touchy ones. Yeah, this is gonna be interesting. It's a workout. Jesus. Oh dude,
I'm gonna get so many followers bro. Are you ready bro? Yeah bro. It's gonna be steezy.
Waited for this moment my whole life just to be Will Cooper's shadow.
All right Max, tell us a little about the Riveter and what you do here. All right, so my name is Max
Beaupre. I am a part of the trail crew here at the Riveter in beautiful Mills River, North Carolina.
This is an indoor and outdoor dirt jump facility. In addition to that, we also have a climbing gym
in the inside. So me and my boy Jack make sure all this stays nice and intact throughout the
season. We are open 10 to 9. It's a lot of fun here. It's only $20 to $25 for an entry fee.
Our rentals are really affordable as well, which enables a lot more people to get on bikes and get
stoked on because that's our main focus here is we want to make sure that people are excited to
ride and that they're comfortable. Yeah, it's a great community here. The vibe is unbelievable,
like it's one of the most positive cycling environments I've ever been in my entire life
and we'd love to have you. What's your name? Thomas. Thomas, how long you been riding?
Since I was two. Wow, that young huh? What's your name? Ben. What's up Ben? You guys have
fun at this place or what? Yeah. Yeah, it's a blast right? Yeah. Nice. I was just doing laps
with my buddy Roop here. What's your name again? Theo. Theo. I was just doing laps with Theo. Hi
buddy. You want to do another lap? Get it on camera? All right, let's do it. See you boys.
Good job man. You got an album? I got a YouTube channel. Kate Spaz. Thanks man.
But you make me so nervous. End of day three. How's it feel? Pretty good. Where were we? The
Riveter. That was really fun. Thanks Max for hooking us up with that. Very tired and it's
weird to say it but I guess I'm ready to go home. Got work to do. Two days of Canuga, one day at
Riveter. Lots of miles. Good times with Willem and Richie. This was a rad trip. We're gonna get
some sleep and be on the road at six in the morning for a casual 16 hour drive home. See you tomorrow.
Morning of day five. 5 a.m. Time to go home. Well, we're on to the final stretch.
Last hour and a half but about 18 hour drive in total. Left at 6 a.m. this morning. One of the
most epic weekends I've had in a long time. So I'll be signing off. Thanks for following along
and as always, keep riding.
