If you hear any background noise, it's we're cutting and we're doing some installing here.
Hey guys, Sean with American Window Concepts, and today we're actually
doing an install that I've been involved in, and here's an opportunity to kind of tell you
the difference between a casement window and a double home window. There's a lot to go into,
so here we go. So here's our casement window, and as you can see, it's basically a frame
instead of a middle frame. With this guy, this is going to swing out much like a door,
to a 90 degree angle. The benefit of this is the seal that you actually get.
The screen is on the inside, not the outside itself, so it's really, really kind of like
that plus picture window is the only window that you're going to get that has that option,
where the screen is on the inside. Picture window has no screen at all, but it's a very,
very sleek look from the outside of your house, and you see nothing but glass and frame.
Neat looking. Okay, so here's our double home window, and with a double home, both the top
and bottom slide up and down, and for that, you have to have a screen that's able to completely
cover the entire opening. That way, if you want to slide the top down, you got screen. If you
want to bring the bottom up, you have screen to cover it as well. So that's the first thing you're
going to notice about a double home window is that full screen. Guys, here we are on the inside,
and here's our casement window, and like I was saying, the screen is on the inside. So here is
our screen, and this is your lock for the casement window. So when you pull this down, it's called
the tie rod locking system. So that basically runs up and down the inside of this frame here,
and it grabs this panel and pulls it in tight. Really, really nice locking feature. So you unlock
that, and then all the air. I love casement windows because these things, I mean, how much
air you actually get from this. I mean, look at how huge this is, and it's a small, small window.
So maximum airflow, and then you have the weatherstripping, the compression seal on the
outside, and then you have your... Let me pull the screen off so you guys can get a better look at it.
See how easy that pops off? So if you're getting a little closer, you'll see that the weatherstripping
is here. This is your triple thin mole hair weatherstripping, and then on the edge of the
compression seal. So this compresses against the outside of the frame. So when you lock this window
up, now watch this. See how it here, this gap? Done. So, and this is a very, very quiet window.
Now this is going to be the highest rating against wind infiltration. So if it's a windy, windy day,
this window is not going to give it to you. This window here, the double hung would be
the weaker link in that, but this is an amazing little system as well.
We haven't finished this one completely. We still have to clock this in, but this window just,
you know, just to kind of give you an idea. This is an Anland Coronado window, and these tilt in
for cleaning. Most double hung windows will have this feature where you can, you know, clean your
windows from the inside. And again, mole hair weatherstripping only. You're not going to have
any compression seal on these, but that doesn't mean this is a slouch window. This is a great
window. All right, there we go. Pocket that. Cool thing about this as well is you have the ability
to vent from the top. So if, you know, this is a bedroom. So if the kid wants some air,
they have some air coming in through here and, you know, it's going to take a lot for somebody
from the outside to get past this. You know, they're going to assume it's locked and call it.
Same thing can be said for the bottom. You can do it like this as well. Hey guys,
